Wonderful food and wonderful experience. We went to this restaurant on holiday in Germany and it was one of our trip's highlights. The restaurant was buzzing from the minute we walked in and never really stopped. We got to watch the owner tap a new keg, then pour full size Bavarian beers and serve the table. I'd never had roasted pig knuckle before, but sure wish I lived in Munich so that I could have this one again.

UPDATE -- This wound up being the ONLY restaurant we visited twice during our two weeks in Munich. It didn't disappoint! On visit #2 we enjoyed a delicious curry wurst plate with potato salad and some fabulous soups. This place is great! ---- We had a WONDERFUL dinner here. We cannot recommend it enough. We were the only non-locals and we don't speak German but we felt welcome and got by just fine. The food was exceptional. The pork with dumplings and the steak which came with kasespaetzle was all really well prepared, fresh and tasty. The portions were HUGE but they kindly let us take some home with us. Our server was very nice despite how busy they were. It's clearly a local favorite. This was one of our favorite German meals for sure!

We enjoyed our dinner at Burg Pappenheim. We tried the guinea hen with fried potatoes, the fried fish with potato salad and bratwurst with potatoes salad. Everything was very tasty. The service was good and prompt. We aren't beer drinkers but they had nice fruit spritzers for a reasonable price. It wasn't crazy crowded and loud like some of the beer gardens can be. We would recommend it.

Came here a bit buzzed after consuming some rather large beer prior. Their special of the day was a Curry Wurst, which I thought what the heck I've always heard of these but never tried. It was good, even though there was quite a bit of ketchup on it and I very much do not like ketchup. The Curry powder made it palatable and I actually enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the beer I drank with it. Cute little spot that is off the beaten path. You'll get great friendly service, beer, and tasty bites. What more could you want?

Best restaurant I have eaten at since I been in Germany for vacation. Even my 10 year old thought the food was delicious and that the server was very kind. He made the best recommendations and made us feel welcome.

Loved the roasted chicken salad! It was tender, juicy and fried in pumpkin oil. The coffee and dessert were delicious as well. The host was so friendly even though we didn't speak any German. My husband enjoyed the Radler (beer with lemonade). Definitely recommend this place!

Everything from the drinks, bread with special butters, soups, truffle pasta, chicken with a pastry top version of a chx pot pie and some other entrees were all terrific. The apple dessert did not disappoint either - yum ( need to order ahead to give it 25 mins or so ) First rate -don't miss this gem of a restaurant! . Thx you for a wonderful dinner! Enjoy

The soup was refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The bread was good as well. One of the spreads was obazda dip which I love. I thought they made it ok. We started with the veal ravioli. They were tender and tasted pretty good. I had the restaurant special which was basically a chicken pot pie. I thought it was good but I've had better. I thought the chicken was over cooked and the capers inside was a bit off putting to me because there were so many and made the whole dish too sour for me. It was a bit off putting. My friend had the fillet with white asparagus and potatoes and hollandaise sauce. It was basic but I preferred her dish. The dessert had strawberry and tarragon I believe. It was well balanced, not too sweet, and I liked the herbs with the dessert. They also had a nice drink menu and a good variety of wines. They did not let us try the wine before pouring it which I expected since this is a nice place. Overall thought the service was decent but not great.

I stopped by here by myself maybe around 6pm on a Monday and was seated at a table because the bar was full, but told I only had an hour since they were full for reservations. That was totally fine and knew I wouldn't be more than that. If you are coming here with other people, you definitely need to make a reservation. The servers are dressed in traditional German clothes which is a very cool touch. Everyone I spoke to also spoke English. I ordered the schnitzel and whichever beer they recommended with it. I am typically NOT a beer person, but of course I had to try one and whatever this was, was very good. The schnitzel was so crispy and also very delicious. Highly recommend this place!!

The service at Haufbrauhaus was terrible. I ordered a seasonal beer and it was fantastic and the outside seating was wonderful on a perfect day. Our server was awesome and spoke perfect english. I ordered the charcuterie board and it had a couple of hummus scoops and a beef stick and this scoop of stuff that was way too rich for me with pieces of butter in it, but the Germans love it. The pretzels that came with it were great and the cream cheese scoop went perfectly on the pretzel. One of the best meals in Munich, give it a try.
