My new favourite is the Chicken Bunnuce with Bacon. The crisp crunch of those latticed leaves, the molten cheddar and the slop of aioli all ensure you will be licking your fingers with burger juices.... Burger Burger never fails to deliver fresh, delicious and original food.
They run a special burger every week - but I usually stay loyal to the set menu which offers a range of meats (chicken, beef, lamb, pork) and also vege and falafel options for your herbivore friends. You should note- that all the burgers come with different fillings and none have "standard salad" toppings. There is a lists of "additional" fillers you can add to their listed burgers which include bacon, eggs, beetroot.... etc etc - but a surprising required addition is cos lettuce. Most burgers you get... come with lettuce? But Burger Burger have taken that assumption out of the equation by making lettuce a paid addition ($2). You can however make any burger into a low carb bunnuce (lettuce leave 'bun') free of charge.... so if you want lettuce- maybe opt for ditching yah bun instead for a cheaper option. I love my bunnuce's though -so I can't say I can relate to this first world problem :)
Dont forget to add on some sides to your group order - the shoestring and kumara fries are served with another slop of aioli and are an obvious match made in heaven for your burgers. And dont forget to check out the shakes on the drinks menu - but milk or thickshakes that come in 3 flavours. The pricetag is a little hefty in my books ($9/shake) but if you share 1 between 2, its probably worth it for the Instagram shot.
Finally - you cannot leave without trying the burnt broccoli. slighty charred/slighty black... tossed with almonds- they take the 'guilt' out of eating at a burger joint completely. I personally eat my broccoli with more aioli, but even on its own its delicious. This week they had the delicious Cauliflower Cheese on as a special side - I couldnt get enough of that absolutely delicious smoked cheddar cheese sauce. If you visit while this is still on the menu - you must try ! A little steep in price ($12)... if you're trying to pick just one "healthy" option for your visit, maybe stick to the $7 broccoli to keep your wallet happy.
This place just keeps getting better and better, and the burgers have certainly improved in both taste and size since they first opened. Parking can be difficult and getting a table here in this teeny strip just as hard - but trust me - all good things required patience and the team at BB will definitely make you a meal worth the wait :) read more
