At the meeting of I-80 and I-476 there sits an Arby's. It shares a parking lot with a Burger King…read moreand from the outside looks as though no one has loved it for a very long time. The lot is cracked and patched in the manner of old knees. The edges are tufted with weeds doing their best impression of prairie grass. The stop sign by the exit has given up on vertical life and now leans against its pole like it is waiting for a bus that will never come. But step inside and you find yourself in a different story. The place is clean and bright, and the people who work there seem to have won some secret lottery for friendliness. The young teen at the register was a trainee. We may have been her first solo customers. Her manager hovered at a respectful distance, smiling but silent, like a lighthouse keeper watching a small boat navigate the channel. She did just fine. The food was exactly what you want from Arby's if you are the kind of person who occasionally wants Arby's. I had my usual Beef n' Cheddar with curly fries. It was good. My wife and older son split a cheeseburger and potato wedges and declared themselves satisfied. My youngest had mac and cheese and loved it in a way that suggested he might dream about it later. This Arby's is perfectly positioned for an easy on-and-off stop that feels like a rest area without the inflated rest area prices. In the world of Arby's, this was about as good as it gets, short of someone coming outside with a weed trimmer and upright stop sign.

Now, listen up folks, because I've got a story to tell about the Burger King in good ol' Scranton,…read morePA. So, I know I've been away for five years, but let me tell you, things have changed! Apparently, they're now serving beer at Burger King. I mean, who would've thought, right? I was driving back to Philadelphia and decided to stop and charge my phone, but little did I know, I was in for a surprise. I placed my order for some chicken fries and turned around to find myself face-to-face with a whole case of beers. Talk about a plot twist! I kept walking, trying to process what I just saw, and guess what? There was even more beer! I don't know what's going on in Scranton, but they sure know how to have a good time. And let me give a shoutout to the genius owner of this Burger King because they've mastered the art of impulse buying with their product placement. I mean, who can resist the temptation of grabbing a cold one while waiting for their chicken fries? It's like they read our minds! So, if you're ever in Scranton and craving some fast food with a side of unexpected beer options, head on over to this Burger King. It's like a party in a fast-food joint! Just remember to enjoy responsibly and maybe grab some extra napkins because things might get a little wild. Cheers! In other news, the place was clean, bright and so was the cashier.

Definitely the best value restaurant in town. My entire family goes here all the time, and the owners are super cool! They always have a huge beer selection with new things on tap every week. The poutine cheesesteak is the classic here but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

After having our GPS take us a ways around we got to Union Publik House and there were regulars in there already. There's a few tables and we were greeted warmly and since we were a group of five, took the larger table in the back by the kitchen. Our server was also friendly and helpful. He recommended the burgers but said just about everything we would order would be good and he was right. My wings were big and tasty, the burger we ordered was cooked as requested, the Ceasar salad was good but the chicken add-on was a bit overdone and dry, the other salad with add-on salmon was a nice big piece of fish that was quickly eaten, and the BBQ sandwich my kid had was gone in what seemed like seconds. We started with some mozzarella sticks which were fine, the pirogies were better than fine, and the homemade chips with salsa were also quickly eaten. Drinks were canned sodas at $3 each and I also had an unsweetened ice tea for the same price. I think you'll also like UPH for your lunch or dinner. We'd come back. $125 total including tax and tip for five people.
