Burger Urge is tucked away in a corner underneath The University of Queensland Biology Library (a library which no longer holds any books), in what was once a refectory. Swapping the remains of the refectory, with it's soggy over-buttered sandwiches and undifferentiable curries, was a blessing upon those who have to frequent the university. The location is small, but well fitted out, and the staff are all very friendly albeit inexperienced. There are some quite obvious but excusable opening week jitters, there were no credit card or EFTPOS facilities and the chips, both sweet and regular potato, were not up to the usual Burger Urge standard.
The focus though is, and should be, the burgers. Burge Urge has what are without a doubt the best burgers to be bought in Brisbane. Whilst this isn't a hard task, it is something that has taken a while to happen. The meat is juicy without being soggy, and is very flavourful. The lamb burgers are clearly lamb, which is something that is often a problem at competing outlets (looking at you Grill'd). The patties, whilst probably not 100% meat, are not burdened by fillers such as bread or onion (looking at you Purple Gorilla). The toppings are expertly balanced with none overpowering the others. A good decent burger that is worth the cost and the wait. read more
