Update from my review of 11/1/2020: in which I gave Burke Asphalt a 5-star review. As a result of that work, I re-hired Patrick two years later to repair my tar and chip driveway after it was damaged by Hurricane Ida. I had asked if it could just be patched and was told that the entire driveway would have to be re-done. He quoted me a price, then proceeded to re-do what he termed "the whole driveway". The photos attached show what I was left with: two halves of a drive that do not match in addition to the use of what is termed in the industry as "screenings", loose, fine gravel that is typically used as the material between flagstone or other stones in garden pathways to pave the lower half of my driveway. It has the texture of sand and when confronted about it, said he was at the mercy of what the quarries had on hand. Additionally, no draping of my shrubs and trees adjacent to the driveway where, on a windy day, weed killer was sprayed, vaporized and burnt my evergreen and Japanese hollies. The last I heard, he said if he was in the area, he would throw some more stone on the driveway as a good will gesture. Have not heard from his since and have since paid out-of-pocket to have the entire drive re-done. I extended loyalty and trust but received neither. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN! He does inferior work, lies to customers and provides no corrective action once he has been paid. Not only that, but he appears to be training his son to follow in his own unethical footsteps. Initially, seemed like a well-run family company. Responded to my email request for estimate within 30 minutes and Mr. Burke's son came out the next day. He did the usual high estimate, and then offered 20% off if I agreed to have it done the same day, which I did agree to verbally. While he left to get materials, I checked the website and found the "30% off" offer. When he returned, I asked for the same discount as was on the website, and he said he had given it to me. When I pointed out the $50 difference between 20 and 30%, he shrugged it off as a "math error." That should have been a warning sign to me, but I felt obligated since I had verbally agreed to the job. He worked for a few hours, while babysitting his younger brother in the parked truck. I had to leave prior to the job completion, and foolishly left him a check for the full amount. Second mistake - when I returned, I found that the cracks were poorly filled, areas of moss on the driveway were just sealed over (and of course very shortly thereafter flaked off), and depressions had been filled with mounds of patching material that was neither tamped nor feathered properly. I contacted Mr. Burke, sent him pictures, and was told he would return within the next few days to check the job. Third mistake - over the course of the next four weeks, I got the same promise four times. Each time, it turned out "things were too busy" for him to return (although it hadn't been so busy when the job was taken on the next day). I finally responded to him that it was clear he did not stand behind his work and was just stringing me along with his promises to return. Since then, complete silence. I am in the process of repairing the mess he left behind. read more

Price was great, scheduling to get the job done was great. Results, not so much. I had our driveway resurfaced and seal costed because of the warranty and the good price. We had some river stones next to the driveway at a mulch bed and instead of moving them they paved on top so now they are embedded in and can't be removed without damaging the asphalt. We also had the driveway widened 3 feet, but they didn't use enough stone or do a good job grading away so now that extended section is sinking and sloped away and incredibly noticable. It is very thin in some spots and feels more like a kids rubber playground than a driveway. It also dents quite easily. Called, texted, and emailed and I'm told someone will come back to look but it has been weeks. Sealcoating spray got on house also. Not happy with the results. I'm sure I'll have to pay to get this fixed by someone else in a year or two. read more

Burke Asphalt came out and did my driveway. They did the job and when finish I had to get them to come back . At the same time I had my driveway finish my son got his done. Both of us were not happy with the job. On Monday they came out just to make my son's driveway better but they didn't make it better. With my driveway they were supposed to take the lines out of the driveway and there are about 6 holes in the driveway in which I wanted patched up. Short story they didn't do anything to my driveway. I am not happy at all. I would never recommend this company. read more
