He won't keep in contact with you, he won't read any documents you provide to him. The only contact you will have is with his legal assistant and then all the person does is apologize to you because they know he hasn't touched your case. He drags things out for months at a time instead of working towards final orders, essentially just bringing in more money for himself. We are at over the one year mark and still no final orders date yet. If you want a high dollar, no action attorney that you don't mind bank rolling higher Mark otherwise stay away!

I am in serious need of a lawyer for a probate dispute and the only way to hire Chris is to pay a $250 for an hour rate to discuss the case. Feeling he would be a good fit I went for it. First, he got on the call late. Then, the first 30-40 minutes was spent going through tedious explanations of the the family tree - which not relevant at all to my questions about the case at all. "So this aunt is related to the guy in what way?" I asked several times to please just condense - as this part of the exact family tree was not in dispute. He refused and said it was important. Additionally, he kept forgetting what I just said "So, wait, this person is who's brother?" etc. It was driving me crazy - yet I felt trapped by his clock. How many times can ask to skip it. By the time he allowed me to get to the actual issue, I was told repeatedly how busy he was and how a case like this would require a $10,000 retainer. Again, he let me know how small his bandwidth was and this type of case would be really hard for him to fit in. I see it as a standard case. At about the 50 minute mark we were getting to the questions I wanted legal advise on. It reached over the hour - but since there was so much BS - I figured we were still within the $250. Wrong. Ultimately, Chris Mahre is too busy for my case without a huge retainer - but said he hoped to have shed some light for me. I said he did not. There was nothing new he brought to the table that was helpful. That is not an exaggeration. Free consultations from other lawyers gave me more info - and at least it felt like they were a fair attempt from both sides to find a match. This felt like I was a complete "sucker" expedition and I lost. He charged me for every second - $375.00 total for his time and money for a family who desperately needs a lawyer and does not have much budget to spend let alone waste. I hope this warning helps someone not go through what we did for a consultation. I do not feel good writing this - but feel worse paying his inflated worthless bill.

My ex-daughter-in-law then proceeded to take my grand daughter out of state for the rest of her child-life w/o no provision to require anything but voluntary 2day periods every month for my son to visit his daughter. And he was told to keep her on the payroll so she could get an apartment and set up home in CA 1000 miles away. Now he has no recourse as the clock is ticking and when it hits six months my granddaughter will be domiciled in CA and my son will have to appear in court for every filing and be considered a hostile outsider by the courts of CA with zero rights there and he will have to travel to CA and beg his ex to allow him to see his daughter. If you ask me this settlement is totally one sided and extremely unfair. So I highly recommend that if you are faced with a similar situation, that you not engage with this lawyer unless you are the party with the upper hand and are taking a child out of state to tilt the law in your favor.
