This is a used bookstore that is very reasonably prices at $3 for paperbacks and $5 for hardbacks with a few other prices in between. They do game nights and have board games spread throughout the store. I really enjoyed having D20 die to figure out a drink because I happen to be very indecisive when there are lots of choices. We ended up a red wedding (17) and a stygian jungle night (18). Both were really good and my friend and I cannot wait to stop at this store again when we are back in town!

Whenever I go to the mall I always park so I *have* to go inside Barnes & Noble. Unfortunately I was looking for a series of books that was online only. The employee that helped was very patient and helpful. Then onto my next favorite section. Looking for a specific style I went through the mass selection available, happy they had so much to offer. I didn't find exactly what I wanted, but it meant so much they tried to cater to different personalities/people. While their prices can be on the high end with some products, they also have great bargains on other items. During my hunt for a book there was a lovely lady with a tray filled with mini Starbucks samples. What a wonderful way to end my day!

This is a great used bookstore located inside the Quincy Public Library. Most paperback books are…read more$1 each, and they often have some books on sale for 50 cents or half price. There are romance, science fiction, and other novels as well as non-fiction books and cookbooks. There are even some audiobooks and DVDs. The books and items sold are from donations and older library inventory. They also make coffee, hot chocolate and cappucino for cheap. Proceeds benefit the library.

Selection of "spiritual" books is very slim, and occupies a very cramped area of an low-ceiling upstairs. You can find all of this kind of product cheaper online. In a big city, a gift shop like this can work, but the selection of gifts are usually much bigger better and more original. I felt like I was visiting a 1985 bookstore. There is just something about going into independent bookstores that feels like taking a step into…read morethe past. This was definitely the case when I stepped into Prairie Lights Books. I was in town visiting campus and needed to bring something back for my kids. A friend recommended the store so I walked the couple blocks over from my hotel to check it out. A lot of bookstores neglect books for kids. To my amazement the entire lower level of the shop was for kids. It was fantastic. I walked around for a good 30 minutes checking out what they had to offer. The upstairs has more traditional selection of books. I was in a hurry so I didn't have time to check it out. It was a place though you could easily get lost just browsing the shelves. Looking at some of the reviews I somehow totally missed that there was a cafe attached as well! I'll have to check that out the next time I'm in Iowa City.
