We hosted an event at Burly Axe with a very large group, and the staff we absolutely amazing. The owner was extremely generous and flexible, and the staff working that night was professional, warm, and accommodating. The event was so much more successful than I anticipated, and everyone had a blast throwing axes. The bar is great, and there are great food options closeby to bring in takeout. Him going around from stall to stall also seemed to help. My husband wanted to throw one handed and the instructor taught him the best technique to get it to stick. My boyfriend and I were visiting VT for a vacation and were looking for something new to do. We had never done axe throwing before and it seemed like something that was up our alley so we reserved 1 hour time slot to learn how to throw. The location is easy to find and staff very friendly and helpful. I loved the polar bear painting on the walls for sale! You do have an option to buy some alcohol but since there weren't many food options to pair with it (as its a very physical activity so it makes sense) we opted to stay sober and throw. It was SUCH a fun experience! Our guide explained pretty well what to expect, how to react and how to adjust our throws if we aren't nailing it. My boyfriend was SO good at it, but me, not so much. Once we got a grip on how to throw were told of some fun games we could play to test our aim or rank up points. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking to expand their horizons and try something new! It seemed like a lot of people who came were excited to throw, so come with a positive attitude and you can't go wrong! read more

I booked Burly Axe for a 120+ person event, not only were they a no show, but there was also no phone call or follow up to apologize or explain. Nor did anyone answer the business line the day of the event so I could find out what was going on. Leading up to the event there was minimal communication and zero communication about how we could prepare the event space to accommodate Burly Axe. The entire experience was not just frustrating and unprofessional but disappointing. I strong caution anyone in booking an event with this business. read more

Wife and I went to Burley Axe on a recent getaway to Burlington. My wife had been pleading with me to try axe throwing despite neither of us doing anything like it before. Not only did we have a ball, it was the highlight of our trip! We preregistered on the website for a one hour evening time slot. Upon arrival we told our instructor (Olivia) it was our first time. Her comforting words and positive demeanor immediately put us at ease. She gave us as much instruction as we requested and after 15 minutes, we told her we were good to be on our own. My wife even shot a bulls-eye that I was lucky to catch on video using slow motion. We highly recommend it! (We're in our 60's too) read more

This place is great!!! My girlfriend brought me here on a date and we had an awesome time. At the end we didn't want to go when it was time to leave for dinner! We interacted with 3 staff members while there (October 16th 2020) and all of them were super friendly and helpful. There was a big(ish) party of people in a different area next to us and a staff member stayed with them the whole time. So with my experience and witnessing that groups, l would say this place is good for just about any size group that the fire code would allow! 10 out of 10 for Burley Axe, and I will definitely be going back next time I am around the area! read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for something to do on a Sunday night and we found Burly Axe Throwing through a Google search and a recommendation that we got from a waitress while out to dinner. I highly recommend reserving your time slot on their website and the staff was accommodating with changing the time of the reservation. It was perfect for a fun date night activity! It was socially distant as we got our own section and there was only one other party of 3 with us during our time slot. The staff member told us that if you are vaccinated you don't have to wear a mask, so that was good. The employee was very friendly and helpful with a funny demonstration and tips. It definitely took getting used to throwing an axe, but once you got the hang of it... so much fun! They offer drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic if you want to make things more interesting. If you think axe throwing sounds weird, guess again! It is like throwing darts, except with hatchets. It is a great place to bring a group for something new! The staff is great - they teach you everything you need to know to get started. The hatchets are light enough that pretty much anyone can participate. And they serve beer! Brought a group of 11 to Burly Axe last night....entertaining family from NJ, NY and DC. Everyone loved it! Great edition to Burlington activities. Fee to participate ($25) is right on. Staff is very helpful and friendly...engaged nicely with everyone. Could totally see Burly Axe expanding to include food/beverages. read more
