The blacktop I needed to fill and smooth a large area at the edge of the lane and my backyard was not a huge job but BB did the job quickly and efficiently. The crew were great, friendly and professional. They offered some ideas to improve the "plan" I had in mind. The results were impressive. They curbed the edge at the lane and they sloped the whole patch so water runs off and it is easy to wheel waste bins in and out of the small shed I have. These guys know what they're doing. We hired Burnaby Blacktop to install an updated asphalt driveway in our Port Moody home. Their team was responsive, and the asphalt driveway looks good, except for one important thing: the heavy equipment that the company brought to lay the asphalt left behind an incredibly stained, trashy-looking mess on the roadway in front of our home, which has rather spoiled the look of our nice little cul-de-sac and left the neighbours furious with us. Burnaby Blacktop subsequently acknowledged that their team seems to have released a big puddle of used diesel fuel on the road, and then tracked big black tractor-trailer marks in big spirals around the street. When we expressed our distress to the company, and asked how to get the street cleaned up, their polite reply was "sorry about that - the stains should fade over time." We're putting our home on the market soon, and suddenly the street in front of our house has become a public eyesore. read more

I did not hire them, nor am I ever likely to. They were hired by an owner or contractor re a house across the lane from me, it appears. First, they blocked the lane without even a sign at the end. As there is a hill, you don't know if you can get around or not until you drive up. Second, they parked a digger in my back yard/parking area without permission. I really don't think in the 3 years since initial install there should be so many cracks and breaks. Please SHARE SHARE SHARE. This for me. I don't want anyone else to have our experience. The kicker is when they were coming to complete the job they were issued 1 ticket on the way to get the supplies for not properly securing their load and then they were returning to our house and they were issued a second ticket for the same infraction. We have no hesitation in recommending Burnaby Blacktop. The job was to remove the asphalt driveway, side carport and in front of gate and replace it with asphalt. They also suggested adding a curb which we did not have before and that we are happy with. All staff we dealt with were punctual, professional, polite, friendly and very knowledgeable. One disappointed we experienced was when we phoned to confirm the original date of the paving and were told that there was no one home when the prep crew came to remove the driveway. Had we carefully read the email from Burnaby Blacktop, we would have seen that there were two separate email messages regarding dates - one for prep and one for paving. The work was automatically rescheduled to 3 weeks later. It would have been better had Burnaby Blacktop ensured that we knew the date for the prep work, e.g., via a phone call or that we confirm receipt of the email (like they asked for when they sent the invoice to pay). Also - after the prep crew left for the day, I discovered that the automatic gate closer was not working and that there was minor metalwork damage. Burnaby Blacktop immediately (within a few hours) repaired these problems. We are impressed by their quick follow-up and great service. read more

This review is based on the customer service as I haven't gotten services done as of yet. I was calling on behalf of a client who was interested in upgrading their home and having some paving done. Rather than have the client call directly (they're a bit of a diva cookie) I felt that being the middle person would be easier communication wise for them to deal with directly. Out of all the companies that I've called this was the only one that was patient and spent 20 minutes explaining the process and cost of different materials by square footage. I tool the information to the client and highly recommended their company to them. I am big on customer service and detailed information, therefore, was extremely impressed by the way the conversation and information was presented to me which was more than I had expected. The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is 'cause this review is based on part 1 of the project, quotes and communication, however, suspect that this will change for the better (will upgrade) once the project is underway. read more

We just had our driveway done. It was 40 years old and did have some areas that definitely needed replacing as well as some 'hills' starting to show. We expected to have to replace the whole driveway and did budget for it. After much researching and checking information and reviews and working with a neighbor, this company was our choice of contractor. It was recommended that instead of a full replacement, they could just replace the nasty areas and then do a resurface. The results are excellent and we could not be more pleased with it. Makes the curb appeal so much better. Clean up was second to none. The crew were polite, respectful and courteous as well as knowledgeable in what they were doing. We do recommend this company. The icing on the cake? Their pricing is very reasonable. We will invite them back next year to prep it for next winter! read more

An update to my earlier review (see below) - after several weeks, the owner responded with an apology for the poor communication and offered to redo the work. This time they did an excellent job and to my complete satisfaction. Original Review: A small blacktop pathway job (8'x12'). Owner said that they have a minimum $1300 call-out fee but accepted $800 which was the same as two other quotes that I received. A tricky job that was handled well (I thought) - it required blending into an existing driveway and included working around a couple of utility covers. That job was done reasonably well. One of the workers convinced me to seal the driveway and new blacktop for a discounted price of $300. It was only $100 more than it would have cost me so I agreed. Unfortunately there were a couple of scabs that lifted off the next day and they had sealed the City water shut-off cap. I contacted the owner the next day and he said he would send somebody to fix it. I reminded him a week later and he said he would send somebody to fix it. That was more than one month ago and nobody has contacted me yet. I've since cleaned up the water shut-off cap so it can be removed and it looks like I'll need to fix the sealing job myself. read more

The first thing I notice about this company is how polite they are when you call it's not that often you hear good morning or thank you anymore I was also surprised at how fast they called me back I left a message in the morning and they called back that afternoon he was really informative to I thought I would have to dig everything out I had gotten an estimate from another company and they told me the only way to fix it was to dig it out for thousands of dollars when Burnaby Blacktop showed up they walked me through all of the different options turns out I didn't have to dig it all out only a portion these guys saved me big time would for sure recomend read more
