Cakeaway Bolton - Gluten Free Blueberry Swirl Cheesecake

I was excited to try their gluten-free cheesecake. They have a wide selection of desserts as well as a great choice of gluten-free and vegan products, and luckily for me, they have gluten-free options with the dairy I love and crave. It's so annoying that many companies try to make a "one purpose fits all" with products as I can't stand dairy-free milk or cheeses, and I'd rather do without. The prices are a tad expensive, cheesecake starting at £6.49 considering the size it is overpriced. The £4.86 I paid after the promotion did seem to make it more than reasonable, however. The delivery experience was poor, I really do think they're expanding too fast with a delivery area too large which they struggle with, they do all deliveries themselves and my food ended up taking around 2 hours with the Uber ETA just going up and up. Whenever I did phone, the staff did seem friendly and considering the delivery driver was out for over an hour with my food, the fact the cheesecake didn't crush and remained cold is quite impressive especially with the days getting much hotter now. Most of my cheesecake was enjoyable, a tiny bit of it was a little hard but I think that is just because of the storage. The biscuit overall could have been softer but the generous filling made it moist and enjoyable nonetheless. My friend also ran out of superlatives to describe her Malteasers themed cheesecake which did look better than mine sadly, but I'm just happy they did a gluten-free one even if blueberry isn't the tastiest or exciting topping. Would I order from here again? Yes, it does make a treat every now and then and it is one of the few places to do a gluten-free cheesecake (I mean come on, I'm sick of getting just brownies everywhere which ironically they do too!), but I wouldn't order when I'm hungry mainly down to the fact deliveries can take hours and take much longer than the UberEATS predicted time. Reading other negative reviews from this place on both Uber and Google, I learned that there wasn't a single review complaining about the food quality and every issue that came up was delivery, I think other than the timing they are getting back on track as the delivery driver did seem friendly and professional. The advice I would offer is only delivering at certain timeslots and removing orders for "asap", meaning Cakeaway know they won't have repeated trips to the same far away area and the customer will have a more positive idea of when the item will arrive, which would remove that part of the feedback. 3*
