(Honestly, I want to get them a gift, and I realized a gushing yelp review might be the best option here. They are also now my liquor store 4 lyfe.) TLDR: my purse was stolen from my car this afternoon when we stopped by on our way home today. I've always known from prior visits that the owners were super-duper nice when we've stopped by, but I wasn't expecting the level of help they offered while my boyfriend and I were dealing with the aftermath. The proprietors were amazing: after I told them what happened, they asked where I'd parked and pulled up security recordings to try and ID the person who stole my purse, offering up both footage (and additional details because they also recognized the person from the recording). After we ID'd the person and were waiting for the police to show up - we saw that same person further down the street literally rifling through my purse, and one of the proprietors followed me while I went to confront her. (Folks, please don't do that, it's a terrible idea but I was really hyped up on adrenaline and pissed tf off - and it was incredibly nice to know I had a backup.) In the end: I'm a super-rare exception that literally got all of her stuff back after a robbery, including a work laptop this woman had already started trying to scrape the stickers off of in the half-hour she had it. Boston + Somerville Police (and my boyfriend, who followed this woman until they got there!!!) were all lovely and helpful, but none of this would have happened if Blue Label Liquors hadn't interrupted their day to help me ID the person in the first place, and then backed me up while I tried to recover my belongings. They checked in with me periodically while I was anxiously hovering nearby (no car keys!) and then kept an eye out for us during a clearly busy time for the store. So: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Also, you have a pretty good selection (oh man, so many great red wine and craft beer options!) and you're really super-nice. But still: thank you so much.

Instead, you can find them at just about every farmer's or community market in the area. Check their website for locations and times. The folks that run the booths are friendly and knowledgeable, and you can sample all of their products there. Their website is very well thought out and informative. They have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic products. What I like best about these is their variety of products/tastes and the crispness of the mead (all filtered, I believe). You can find something that would pair well with just about any dish, or just enjoy one on its own.

The only thing this liquor (beer and wine only) store has going for it is convenience. The rest of the staff rarely engages, and rarely stops doing paperwork, eating, or talking on the phone. So you stand there, waiting....waiting.... Depending on who is working that day, the desk/ checkout area can be a total mess with papers and half-eaten food all over it. There is one woman here who is the biggest issue of all. She is filthy (check the fingernails) and licks her fingers before getting your bag and counting out all of the money that she gives you for change. I'm sorry, but hygiene really counts in my world.
