I decided to try Skip the Dishes, but have always been afraid in the past because I can't do gluten. The menus don't always show the gluten-free options or whether a particular restaurant has any. I was delighted to see Burrito Boyz had GF burritos right there on the Skip site menu. Beyond that, they have burrito options that include sweet potato, one of my favorite foods! I ordered a steak and sweet potato burrito with pretty much every topping you can think of. I like lots of topping options and heat. They did deliver on that. My hubby got a steak burrito with just a few toppings. He's more of a meat and potatoes guy and doesn't have the same adventurous taste buds as I do. Let's get to the disaster....the (and this is what they are officially named) Cheese Nachos. Because of our different tastes, most of the toppings I ordered on the side: jalapenos, salsa verde, sour cream, guac, etc. We chose nacho cheese and I also ordered refried beans on the side. We got our order in good time. It's really cool how you can see exactly where the driver is on the app. He was nice enough but really too rushed to be friendly. So, we open the order. There is NO CHEESE FOR THE NACHOS. They also left out the refried beans. I was seriously put off. How can you even eat nachos with ZERO cheese? I immediately went to the site and lodged a complaint. I did get a refund for the nachos, but I still wasn't happy. Hubby had to use a block of cheese I'd bought to make something else, but at least that saved the taste. I was still missing those beans though. This review was going to be three stars for the lack of those very important items, but then I bit into that burrito. OMG steak and sweet potato, so many other flavors. The GF wrap was grilled and had a nice char--best tasking GF wrap I ever tasted. I did pay for extra for extra cheee though, and I didn't feel the burrito had that. I also asked for hot flavor and although the nachos had that the burrito did not. We actually asked for mild heat on the nachos for hubby, so maybe they got that backward? The taste of that burrito will have me ordering again, along with the fact that they care enough to cater to the GF crowd. I just really hope they never leave the beans and cheese off the nachos again. Nachos with zero cheese is a major fail...but the burrito almost completely made up for it with the explosion of flavor. read more

After moving to the tri city area from London I was so excited to see we had a burrito Boyz here too! I ordered through SkipTheDishes and boy do I wish I just avoided it So incredibly soggy, bland, and unenjoyable. It's so much better in London! I was surprised at the poor quality of the burrito. I ordered the huge chicken burrito, with everything in it. When eating the chicken, it felt chewy (in a bad way) and the burrito wasn't enormously stuffed to the max. I may be a bit biased because last week I had eaten at Fat Bastard Burrito that is just across the road from Burrito Boyz. I have also had the Burrito Boyz in downtown Toronto, and even then it felt like the burrito was filled more. The redeeming factor was that it only cost ~$8, while the Fat Bastard Burrito cost ~$13. I think the Fat Bastard Burrito was packed a little more and had some better ingredients to justify the price, but I am stuck between a better price point, but also lesser food for Burrito Boyz. read more

Of the many burrito options in Waterloo, Burrito Boyz is definitely a top options. They have some excellent protein options, including my favourite, calamari. I would definitely recommend trying the calamari burrito. Although I prefer the toppings options available at Fat Bastard, Burrito Boyz's meat offerings bring the two options to an equal level. Amazing burritos! One semester it was on my walk home from school and I don't even want to think about how often I used to drop in ;) I started off with the veggie soy burritos but I've since shifted to bean & cheese. Both are super tasty. The veggies are always so fresh and the burrito sauce brings everything together really nicely. Beware of the hot sauce: three dots is usually enough for me, although I've witnessed people get FOUR LINES! If you want to go for lunch I'd suggest getting there early because it gets packed! I've heard only good things from burrito boyz, so I was very excited to try it. I am vegan, and I've heard from a few people they cater to a vegan diet, and do it very well. I went in tonight, and asked the man at cash, what would be vegan. He told me only the guacamole was vegan... I asked "that's the ONLY thing that is vegan? The guacamole?" He told me yes. So I explained to him that I heard from a few fellow vegans that they had been able to get a meal there. He shook his head and said again, guacamole was the only vegan option. So, at this point im confused. He then asks a coworker, and she looked him and also said nothing is vegan except for guacamole and the soy something rather. So I said I was going to pass, and left. Came home, and checked online. The online menu, states what is vegan... meaning there is in fact vegan options. So what the hell! Even if I had known before hand, what the online menu had said, the people working there obviously were not aware, and that makes it very difficult for a person with dietary restrictions to feel safe eating here. read more

Ordered a small halibut burrito... CRAZY good. The fish was so tender and didnt have that nasty fishy smell. Make sure you put everything in the burrito (hold off on the jalapenos if you cant take spicy). It was a decent price, and definitely very savoury. The portions arent as ridiculously large as chipotle, and taste just as good, if not better. Chipotle is probably healthier though. But amazing burritos overall!! read more

I went here last week with my family, I was served by the nicest girl, a short blonde. She was able to make our food fast in a friendly manner. There was a huge line of people but she still took her time with my small children to ensure they got exactly what they wanted and labeled our bags so no one ate the wrong thing. Not a fan of the decor or the ambience as another reviewer mentioned. The music was way too loud and crappy; no way we would ever, ever eat in there. Take-out is a must. The food is quite good, but does take a long time to get to you; over 10 minutes usually, without a line in front of you. We waited over 25 minutes one time, but it was a lunch rush. Still that was a long time to stand. It is more of a grilled wrap, than a burrito, as another review mentions. Tasty though. No debit though. Seriously? It's 2011, get with the times Boyz. The first time i had Burrito Boyz, I was at a meeting where the food was catered. I had no idea where my mystery burrito fell from. My first impression? It was the best burrito I've ever had. Brain: "Wow there like avocado in here too". What else can i say? They put everything you could possible want (and things you didn't know you wanted) in your burrito. This location is horrible. I love the Burritos at the other locations, and I have been to this location a few times expecting the same quality. I've been at this location 4 times since moving to the city. The have managed to mess up my order 2 out of 4 times. The first time they messed up my order, they gave away my order and handed me someone else's (I ordered chicken and ended up with shrimp). Order was corrected and the staff were friendly about it. The last time i went (and it will definitely be the last), I ordered over the phone for pick up, had the staff read my correct order back to me and upon pickup, they added the wrong toppings and hot sauce. While halfway eating my burrito at home, there was a piece of raw beef inside. I am absolutely disgusted and will not be returning to this location. I would rather get somewhere else that can get your order right more than 50% of the time. read more

It's a good place to get cheap burritos and it is conveniently open until late. Waterloo unfortunately does not have many Mexican cuisines and this is one which is popular among many students in this college town. I had a big steak burrito. The steak burrito itself was delicious but a bit too oily for my liking. The service was quite slow and I had to wait approximately 20 mins to get my steak burrito whilst I usually get burritos at chipotle in no longer than 10 mins. It was this or the shawarma joint at university commons. Decided to see what the buzz around boyz was since I haven't been to the Toronto location. My first impression was that it is a huge step in comparison to Bandidos or big fat. The restaurant is easily 4x the size of the former and 2x the latter. I feel like this was to capture the weekend partying from Phil's and probably does a good job at handling the volume. The pricing was a bit confusing as they do not offer two different tortilla sizes, instead the sizes indicated the amount of filling used. I got a small bean burrito without the cheese, and extra spicy w/ the works. Pricing was good and comparable to Bandidos! Meaning big fat's is still the most expensive of the three. The cook time felt longer than Bandidos and they also do not use a flat press to help with the grilling do maybe that's why it took longer to cook while coming out fairly soft. I enjoyed the softness of the burrito, though personally I do enjoy a slightly crunchier wrap. The longer cook time might be a liability during the post club rush =/ just a thought. I felt that the initial bite was underwhelming as the tortilla wasn't proportional to the quantity of filling, they really should get two sizes of tortilla. As I worked my way through the burrito it started getting better, their formula for the beans is very good though I would pass on the burrito sauce, and hot sauce. Both were poor quality with the latter being mild at best. Overall food experience was decent, but they haven't won me over as a loyal customer. Considering that it's in waterloo, the burritos here are very delicious :) The service is a bit slow sometimes, but it's worth the wait when during those late late nights when you're craving a big fat burrito. I'm honestly shocked people didn't rate this higher. Burrito Boyz is awesome. A small is more than enough food, the hot sauce is super hot (I'm up to six drops!) and the ingredients are great. Out of all the burrito places I've been to (Chipotle, Fat Bastard, Mucho Burrito, Burrito Boyz), hands down Burrito Boyz is the best I've had. First off, it has guacamole included without additional costs. Most places charge you around $1-2 for it. Also, the burritos are very filling especially if you get a large. I normally get the large chicken burrito with everything on it which is excellent. I also highly recommend trying the veggie soy if you want something different. I ordered naked bowl which has one set size for $7 + additional for meat. I added $3 for steak/chicken mix and $0.87 for a scoop of guacamole. It does add up but the portion size is great! How could I have waited so long to try Burrito Boyz? Sacrilege. But I now understand why everyone raves about it - it's just SO GOOD. I'm not a vegetarian, but I often opt for a veggie meal when I'd like something light and I feel like great, flavourful options to that end are generally in short supply. Not here - the sweet potato bowl (with all the toppings and sauce) that I had was SUPERB. The sauces were on point and it was quite spicy which was perfect (if you like spice, do get at least medium-level spiciness because the habanero sauce is unreal - so tasty!!!). The beans, cheese, lettuce, onions and sweet potato were harmonious, filling and altogether extremely satisfying. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is because I would have liked another option for lettuce (romaine instead of iceberg, for instance) but I am forgiving!!! I can't wait to come back the next time a burrito craving hits. read more

Best burritos I've ever had, and fantastic prices. Don't go in there expecting to find somewhere to sit down. It's optimized for the to-go crowd and there's plenty of standing room. A really nice touch is that all the burrito prices end up rounded to a quarter after tax (eg. the $4.87 small bean and cheese --my favourite-- after tax is $5.50). I eat here at least twice a month. I usually call ahead and they have the food ready for me when I get there to pick it up. read more

The first time I came here was when it was like the opening week of this location, and I do admit, it was pretty good (I got the large chicken burrito with everything on it) The second time I came here was terrible. I ordered the same thing as I did the first time, and it tasted COMPLETELY different. The burrito was just straight up bland and tasteless.. I ate 1/4 of it and threw it out because it was so bad. Third time coming, i decided to give it another go, maybe they had an off-day or something. Nope. Ordered the chicken burrito again, tasted like cardboard. For fans of spicy, ask for 5 or more dots of hot sauce. If Frank's Red Hot is about your limit, ask for 2 or less. Probably paid minimum wage and only there to supplement their OSAP, the staff always seem rushed and disengaged. But I'm only there for a burrito, so I don't really care. They do have signs warning about wait times, but 15 minutes seems like an eternity when you're waiting for a burrito, so call ahead because the atmosphere in the restaurant isn't really all that engaging...or pleasant. read more

My sister had just written her last exam of the semester, and so we decided to go for burritos to celebrate. Burritos rank pretty high up there for me on my list of favourite foods, so I was pretty excited to try out this new contender. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the ambiance. I'm not generally picky about things like this, but the lighting was so bizarre and dim, and the ceiling felt unusually low - I felt like I was a mole stopping for some food whilst digging my way through an underground tunnel. There was a row of seating by the window and a couple of high-top tables, which seemed really sparse given the space. There was a huge menu posted on one wall, and after a cursory glance at it, my sister went for the bean and cheese, and I chose the halibut, after reading the rave reviews about it for another location of Burrito Boyz. Our burritos were customized to order, and then tossed on the grill. The whole process was a bit lengthier than I had expected, about 10 minutes or so from start to finish. I was apprehensive about the grilling of my burrito, and rightfully so (not to mention that, to my dismay, two people handled my burrito with their bare hands, despite there being a box of gloves sitting in plain sight!). Once I received my hot and hefty bundle and bit into it, it tasted far more like a "wrap" than a burrito. There really was very little that felt "Mexican" about it. The ingredients were fresh enough, and the hot sauce had a nice kick, but apart from that, it didn't hit the spot. Additionally, the halibut tasted a bit greasier than I had expected. It was disappointing on the burrito side of things, but it was a reasonably priced and filling meal. Chipotle is probably my favourite fast food restaurant, but with limited options in Canada, I am forced to find a good burrito elsewhere. Upon walking in and seeing a great selection on the menu and the walls lined with awards, I thought this was the end to my search, unfortunately, this is not. I had the steak burrito with almost all the toppings and it cost just under $9. The steak seemed like poor quality seasoned ground beef, and I think this ruined it for me. The hot sauce is pretty potent even with just a few drops (a welcome change to some restaurants). The serving size was ok, but not impressive compared to Chipotle. To be honest, Chipotle makes this restaurant seem like Taco Bell. read more

I would rate this place SOLID. Excellent value for price and my the lines at times, albeit broke canadagoose wearing students, shows it is proper. The size either small or large is sufficient. Meat or sweet potato has flavor, is grilled well and ready in a few minutes. There is nothing special about the burrito but being a solid meal in a town with terrible food options is great. read more
