    Spiked watermelon lemonade

Had the honour of having bubbles serve our table. Everything came out great and the drinks she suggested to us was delicious. Definitely recommend the spiked watermelon lemonade. The food was also bomb, and she even asked if we wanted gravy for the fries #thelittlethings

    Service is a ZERO here.

I can't believe the lack of service here. Seated at a table and waited 5 or 6 minutes before deciding it might be faster to get dinner at the bar. Not sure if that was a good idea. Bartender is rarely behind the bar. Brought over chips and salsa, I had to get my own silverware and napkin. The salsa is impossible to scoop out of the tiny cup onto a chip. Dinner served, still no bartender. Still no "how's your meal, can I get you anything". Someone from the kitchen came out to offer a $10 off next time for the long wait. On the bright side, the Southwest Salad with Chicken was tasty. Really can't believe it. Completed meal, empty plates siting here and nothing. Not even anything else? I had to stand up and put my jacket on to get the check. I would have said something to a manager on the way out, but not only was no manager in sight, there was no one anywhere near the entry foyer or hostess stand.

Was I excited to see the latest Lone Star Texas Grill open in the Smart Centre on Pinebush? You bet! Choosing to eat here, well that is not a gamble! My family and I are big fans of the Lone Star, and since the Ottawa-based chain has been open, we've been to locations around the GTA and beyond, including Whitby, Pickering and Kingston locations. We've always been happy with the food here. The main attraction is the Fajitas! We often come on a Sunday and have the special, which feeds the three of us... You can have all the sides, including lettuce and pico de gallo and grilled peppers, among others. You also get plenty of fresh-baked tortillas. They are great! People must love the place because it is very very busy. You should be prepared to wait for a table, especially during peak periods!

Review Highlights - Lone Star Texas Grill

After a frustrating experience trying to leave Cambridge on the Saturday Go bus (50 mins between each), my partner and I decided to get a drink instead of waiting in the frigid cold.

To be honest, it was a little hard to figure out where the restaurant was cuz there are three different restaurants in the building, so I went through the front door and then found the entrance. I decided to sit at a table rather than at the bar, and I'm glad I did. My waitress, Sadia was awesome! He was attentive, made great suggestions. And was very very gracious. I started off with fried calamari, which was a little bit underdone, but still very tasty. Tasty. Next up was a side Caesar salad, which was very good and on point, on to the main course which was the steak frittes which was cooked perfectly. I also had dessert, which was the lemon tart and that was the perfect capper for a meal. Bottom line? This was one of the most delightful meals I have had, perfectly paced, well cooked, and served with a smile. I will definitely be going back anytime. I am definitely coming back to this restaurant when I'm in the area!

We had a private dining area with Michelle, as our Host with Mary & Lauren in her team. She made sure all our needs were met, provided exceptional service and was attentive at all times . Everyone in the group enjoyed the evening with delicious food, tasty appetizers, great wine and delectable desserts. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, several dining areas and a central bar with an inviting atmosphere. All dishes including Chicken, Salmon and prime rib were delicious as the Main course and the chocolate brownie and crème brûlée were decadent. The soup and salads were on point.

I understand keeping the food menu tightly local, but when it comes to cocktails, folks just want what they want. Borealis has some opportunity here. They don't carry any of the most popular beers, wines, whiskey, gins, or vodka. They insist on taking that choice away and they've made a conscious decision to do so. Aside from making the simple task of ordering your favorite beverage a time consuming task, the end result is mediocre. We couldn't even order a pina colada because it isn't local? The food was generally good with some hits and misses. I do like the fact the the food menu is local themed, but it takes execution to make an impact. We had children and adults in our party so the opinions were mixed. The appetizers were good, notably the prosciutto feta flatbread and soup of the day hit a positive note. Duck satay was mixed but I personally found it tender and flavorful. The crowd was 50/50 on entree's. The fish & chips, confit duck, and lamb garnered positive feedback, others did not. Steak frites was an disappointment. Gray, flavorless, and overcooked. The buttermilk fried "Ontario" chicken was viewed as over-breaded with a thick burnt crust and dry throughout. And the slaw it is paired with was watery and old rather than crisp and fresh. The steelhead trout was overcooked, dry, lacking flavor. The accompanying barley risotto was overwhelming and overpowered the delicate nature of steelhead trout. Ambiance was ok and somewhat modern but some found being seated in the lower dining room at what seemed like a picnic table to be off putting. Service was good and staff was friendly. To be honest, many locals really like Borealis. But for me, as an open minded foodie, they have some opportunities around execution and preparation as well as expanding certain offerings at the bar. And let's be honest--bar happiness equals margin and profit.

I left 15 minutes later having received NO SERVICE, not even a glass of water. I have complained to head office, 2 feedback responses on their website and a follow up email a week later. Over the last 3 weeks with their only response was to ask for a receipt and told they would expedite my query. OBVIOUSLY, they failed to actually read my complaint to understand that one does not have a receipt when one couldn't even place a drink order let alone a food order. I was told that people in the area actually travel to another location for service. Frankly, as I again stated to the customer service person I spoke to at their Head Office that this is truly an indication of their total lack of customer service. Too bad one cannot leave a 0 or Minus Star review.
