The hostess was very pleasant and accommodating, the server greeted us quickly, waited for my wife to come back from the washroom to take our drink order. We both had coffee which was very good. The server said it was from a local roaster. We ordered and our meals came out very quickly, and was served to us by a different server who appeared to be new. We had a few questions that he didn't know the answer to and then I dropped my knife. The server quickly brought me a clean knife, and got the answers to our questions. He was very friendly and professional even though he was new. Both of our meals looked delicious and were. I asked to substitute an item and it seemed to be not a problem. My huevos rancheros were scrumptious and I thought it was a lot of food for the price. My wife and I couldn't finish our meals and got take away boxes. Over all the experience was great. We both have jobs where we eat in restaurants almost daily and we can be very critical. Antojo's decor was super interesting, everywhere you looked. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. The food was delicious and plentiful and the price was reasonable. It was our third or forth time here and each time was very enjoyable. Another time on a busy Saturday, we didn't have a reservation and they were full, yet the hostess took a few minutes, worked some magic and we were sat comfortably at a makeshift table for three. We were all very impressed. We have some fantastic restaurants in Halifax and Antojo's is one of them.

Suck on *that*, big cities. But, every now and then I'm reminded of one thing that we lack that hurts me to my very core: great Mexican food that isn't North-Americanized to death. Short of moving into Mexico Lindo in Fairview, I often times find myself in great need of a Mexican feed. And that's why the folks at El Gallo at the Seaport Market deserve a big giant hug. Their tostadas and tamales bring me to a whole new level of happiness every time I decide to indulge and a healthy selection of fresh salsas and sauces take my vision from black-and-white to rainbows of peppers, tomatos, avocados, and more. I'm serious about my love for Mexican, you guys. Can't find 'em? They're upstairs in their own lovely little corner so that you can enjoy your feast in peace without having to worry about someone knocking your tostada on the ground. Because, let's face it, that should be a punishable offense.

I really like their corn tortillas and I can't get enough of their guacamole and cilantro sour cream. Actually, I think it was their sour cream that finally turned me on to cilantro. While I'm still a huge fan of Burrito Jax - I think El Gallo is giving them a good run for their money.

It can get pretty busy at lunchtimes so it may not be a great choice if you're on a 30 minute break, but I lucked out the other day and only had one person ahead of me. Considering they make everything fresh to order service was pretty quick. It was also very helpful and friendly. I ordered the 3 tacos for 8ish$ plus tax. You get a choice of chicken, beef or pork. I just chose all three. There is quite a selection for toppings and I had cheese, pico de gallo, green onions and cilantro on everthing. I tried the corn salsa on the chicken and medium on the other two. The staff is great at recommending pairings and I wisely took their advice on the sour cream sauces and had a different sauce to match each taco. All in all it was a great experience and fantastic lunch for about 10$. My chief complaint was having to wolf it down on a break, I would have liked the time to enjoy it. I will definitely be going back. I haven't tried them yet, but I hear the pickled red onions are a must have.

I hate rating places with a 1 star but this place really disgusted me…read more First off I was already iffy on ordering breakfast as I had already eaten but I didn't want to have my Aunt sitting there eating by herself. So I i asked the waitress for just a piece of toast and a poached egg. Simple enough right? Well apparently that means two pieces of toast heavily buttered, with two poached eggs in some kind of vinegar type liquid and home fries. The eggs were almost revolting to be honest and I didn't enjoy the toast as I'm not a big fan of butter or margarine. The walls looked like they were not washed in a while and the atmosphere just felt depressing. I really hate to be so negative but I will never come back here. The only positive thing I guess would be that the waitress was very kind and nice.

I didn't even know this place existed, but, while hungry and not wanting "fast food" or to go anywhere further out of our way, we ended up here. It wasn't so bad. The server lady, manager, maybe? Was friendly - and fairly fast, but very informal; yelling at the guests from here little stand, loudly re-asking what you had so she could make up your bill, you know. We weren't super hungry, but did want food - we ordered the munchie platter and the fried pepperoni (healthy, ya?) It was all super good. I don't know if any of this was made in house, or out of a box, but it was good! Deep fried to perfection! The deep-fried zucchini sticks were my favourite, the mozza sticks were a close second! The menu items were very wallet friendly, the restaurant seemed clean. All and all better than what I had expected.

I was pleasantly surprised to only have to wait a couple minutes to order, and the service was great. I decided to go for the 3 tacos for $7-something deal and my friend got nachos. I found the prices very reasonable - more so than Cheesecurds. I decided to experiment with 3 different tacos. Meat aside, I got the same toppings on all three with a little guidance from the servers: lettuce, cheese, corn salsa, medium salsa, guac, hot peppers and plain sour cream. I started off with a classic crispy taco with spiced taco beef. Then I tried a soft taco with pulled pork, and finished with a soft taco with fajita chicken. All 3 were delicious and really hit the spot, but the star of the show was most definitely the pulled pork. It was so flavourful. I've been thinking about it ever since and plan to make a trip back very soon. Maybe next time I'll try a lobster and shrimp taco too. My friend devoured her nachos - she was definitely a fan. The decor is fun and fresh. Mostly counter seating in addition to some picnic tables outside. Habanero's is a very welcome and needed addition to the Dartmouth dining scene. I can't wait to go back.

I'm a big fan of Mexican food, and thanks to my half-Mexican boyfriend (who lived in Mexico for 4…read moreyears), I have learned what actually constitutes "authentic Mexican food" and "Americanized Mexican food" and find myself on the lookout for the former whenever I have the chance. Unfortunately the choices in this category have been severely lacking in this city (with the exception of Mexico Lindo) until the past few months so when I heard Habaneros had opened up I couldn't wait to get my gringa culo in there to check out their ingredients. Well, clearly this place is consistent because I can definitely echo what everyone else has said about friendly and fast service - the guys behind the counter are super nice and I had my order within minutes (although there was only one person ahead of us so it not being busy I'm sure helped with this). Now that that's out of the way, onto the really important part - the ingredients. First of all, I was impressed that they had corn tortillas on the menu (definitely "authentic Mexican" as opposed to the more traditionally Americanized white flour tortilla), although I was disappointed to hear they only had them in hard/crunchy form, not soft. This is a tiny complaint though, because flour tortillas are still fine in my book and theirs were good. I just kinda hope they carry soft corn tortillas sometime in the future. I ordered a BBQ pulled pork and a fajita chicken soft taco, with pico de gallo, house-made salsa, corn salsa, lettuce, and lime-cilantro sour cream on top. OHMYFREAKINGODTHETOPPINGSWERESODELICIOUS! It seriously was all super-fresh and I loved the variety. The pulled pork was so good I couldn't get it into my mouth fast enough. The chicken wasn't as good - I liked it - it was tender and lots of flavour, but I found it was a bit too spicy (gringa, remember?) and just nothing...special. I think next time I would either get two pork, or try one of the beef ones (speaking of which, the beef is SHREDDED, not ground, which is 'authentic Mexican' as well and preferred by me, so that was nice to see). My particular favs were the pico de gallo and the sour cream (love that they added a few herbs to it rather than just serving it plain, which is fine but bor-ing). I made my order a combo, with a drink and tortilla chips, and it came to just over $10, which I think for the amount of food and fresh ingredients is quite reasonable. The chips were good too - a little salty, but def better than the generic, no-name ones that are clearly from a grocery store. I'm not sure when I'll be back here just because it's not close to my work or home, but I would actually go out of my way to stop by just because the ingredients and service are so good. Or they could just open a location in Clayton Park...*nudge-nudge*
