I had a very disappointing experience with Heathwood Photography, and William Michael (the owner)…read more It was a reminder of why you can't trust any service provider. I hired William Michael of Heathwood Photography for an event and we signed a contract. He requested that his fee be paid in full before the event, which I did. Everything went on smoothly during the event and I thought that the relatively high price he charged was paying off with good quality and service. That was until the date I was due to receive the photos. The contract stated that I was to receive the photos within 8 weeks. This seemed like a long period of time but I was assured that it was the maximum amount of time, that it usually takes less time, and that it was in order to allow the highest quality of work done on the photos. To make a long story short, when the due date arrived I did not receive the photos. When I contacted William, he told me the photos were not ready and kept putting me off with vague timelines. This went on for close to a month. When I mentioned the contract stated 8 weeks William was unimpressed and just flat out told me it would take longer. Only when I started to suspect I was scammed and start looking into lawyers did I finally get the photos, close to 3 months after the event. Before the event, he showed me various album options I could get my photos in, but when I asked about albums I did not get a response. I decided to cut my loses and get one elsewhere. In summary, William Michael comes through as a very honest and reliable individual but unfortunately that is not the case. He did not respect our contract and caused me lots of stress and aggravation. I would strongly discourage anyone from using his services.

Let me start off by saying that I should have done more research on this woman before hand,…read morehowever, I had a month to plan my wedding and this is what happens when you plan last minute: some things turn out nice and some don't. This is one of the latter... It's been a little over 2 years since this happened, but I remember it vividly, and have always meant to write review... well I finally got to it now lol. First, while we did take just a 3 hour wedding package, that does not mean that the job should be in anyway ill-treated or rushed. Well it felt very rushed, and very half-a$$ed. She had no sense of angles, or artistic sense towards my photos. At least none that were apparent in the photos. I literally (and luckily) had better pictures taken by a guest at the wedding (and for free). Not only was she rushed, but we had to give her all of the ideas for the pictures!! On top of the stress we already had! She never took a picture of me alone with my dress or my husband alone. that saddens me, since it was my wedding! To boot, she took just 1 picture at my reception, only because I begged. Mind you, when we first arrived to the city hall, we were busy with paperwork issues, and didn't take any pictures for the 1st hour, so technically she only worked for 2 hours...at a whopping $600, which she demanded we pay in full right there in my reception!! Since I was just married and in a good mood and all I made the mistake of handing her the money... Then we had to wait...and wait....and wait some more...until we were finally able to reach her. She mad some excuse that she couldn't meet us, and gave our picture CD to her doorman!!! WTF! Since I was leaving abroad, I didn't have time to do anything about it at the time, but really who does that?! She couldn't even give us the courtesy to face us! Anyhow, I took the CD home and when I viewed it, I was disgusted. The pictures were RAW, she didn't even take time to correct flaws, such as red eye, or ill lighting....something that can easily be done from any home computer in a matter of minutes!!!! Out of roughly 200 photos, there were maybe 10 (being kind here) that were nice enough to re-touch and fix (which I had to do). I don't know how she handles her other work, but I would definitely NOT recommend her for WEDDING Photography.

James made a house call to my mother-in-law's in Queens. We sat down and spoke for an hour, looked at albums, and talked about the vision for my wedding. He was polite, courteous and charming. We decided to move forward with signing a contract. Through multiple family look throughs (everyone wants to make sure the contract is right!), and many revisions, James was calm, assuring and really made us feel that we were getting a service tailored specifically to our needs. He insisted on an engagement photo shoot (included at no additional cost) to get to know us better so that when it came to the wedding day we were all comfortable with one another. We did our photo shoot on the streets of Manhattan and then made our way over to Central Park. Working with James and Mike was fun. They made both my husband and I feel comfortable in our own skin, and recommended ways that we could angle ourselves to really get our best angle, while not making us feel uncomfortable (no weird positions with our hands, or unnatural poses). Our photos came out beautiful and we were excited for the wedding. Wedding day came, James and Mike were on time (early even), and took photos everywhere and of everything (shoes, dress, jewelry, nieces and nephew, family waiting around). Everyone was smiling and happy while their photos were being taken, and all our family members commented on how professional, personal, and funny both James and Mike were. It is January now, we have looked through our incredible photos many many times, our parents have both received their beautiful parent albums, and we excitedly await receiving our album at the end of this month! Even though I only gave them a week's notice, they were able to accommodate my request and assigned a gentleman named Guy to photograph ny event. Guy was awesome! He called me a few days before the party to gather details about what I was looking for and executed my shot list perfectly. He was polite, friendly, on time and best of all has a great eye for catching special moments. Guy was also really good at gathering groups together, kind of had the personality of a good MC. He also made sure to make sure our frames were clear of nonsense (phones, tissues, bags, etc). Thank you so much Sorel and Guy for helping to capture such an important day for my family. Not only am I upset that I don't have pictures for this year but I'm so disappointed about how poorly they treat their customers. I sincerely hope they are not the company the league is using this upcoming season. If they are, we will make other arrangements.
