My review is almost a year overdue but let me start off my saying Lauren is an amazing photographer and such a wonderful person! In April 2013, Lauren took my wedding photos. She was simply AMAZING. My husband and I booked Lauren for 2 full days. She was tireless, smart, funny, and so warm & caring. My wife and I have had two photoshoots from Lauren now and both were amazing. The first was with the super-hyper, always excited family dog who Lauren had no problem handling. My Fiancee dreamed about having our engagement photos done in NYC since that is where I proposed this summer. Since we didn't know any photographers she did her homework and stumbled upon Lauren Colchamiro Photography. First let me start by saying my husband and I have never been moved to write a review, but after getting all of our photos back, knew we wanted to share our recommendation of Lauren as your wedding photographer, immediately. Where do we start? Lauren is amazing. Throughout the entire process, from initially emailing with her about our interest, to sitting down and chatting with her about our vision to the day of the wedding- she was professional, organized and mindful of our needs. From the beginning, I expressed to Lauren my concern about being photographed, given how admittedly unphotogenic I am. I have a very forced and unnatural smile when taking posed photographs and I was anxiety ridden thinking we wouldn't get one decent portrait or family picture the entire wedding. Lauren assured me time and time again that I would look beautiful and natural and that she'd make sure we had lots of great photos to choose from and my lord, did she deliver! The fact that we walked away with hundreds of amazing photos is a testament to how comfortable she made us feel! Having her photograph the wedding was like having a close friend with us, rather than a random wedding vendor. Lauren made it her business to draw the most sincere and genuine smiles from everyone she photographed. She is the perfect balance of professional and fun and we received tons of photos where our guests are in hysterical laughter because of her! My husband and I were blown away at the incredible photos she was able to capture- moments in time we weren't even aware of during the night of the wedding. Looking through our wedding gallery we were able to relive our wedding, because every facet and scene of the night was caught in amazing photographs. Lauren was able to place herself exactly where she needed to be for what seems like every photo. I don't know how she does it! She's everywhere all at once! We hired Lauren for our destination wedding. She was a great communicator in email with listening to the kinds of pictures we wanted and giving suggestions. We ended up started in Brooklyn and ending up in Central park. Lauren is so sweet and likable. She immediately put us at ease. She had to work extra hard without her assistant and we had a lot of heavy stuff to carry plus two huge brooch bouquets that she lugged around while taking amazing photos. Lauren gave us a couple of sneak peaks while we were shooting, and they looked so beautiful. Seeing all of the pictures- I couldn't of asked for better shots. She even took pictures that I had no idea she captured. There is a great variety and it is exactly what I asked for- and more. We wanted unconventional pictures with graffiti and grit. We got edgy photos, but we also got so many that captured our outdoor venue so beautifully. Lauren is amazingly talented and you will not be disappointed. read more

Every wedding photographer we contacted was already booked when I turned to Yelp and found Lauren who was available. Since I live on the West coast, my daughter (who was her sister's wedding planner) met with her in Brooklyn and, based on her website's photos, we all agreed we liked her style and thought she would be great. It looked like Lauren was getting a lot of good shots. She emailed us 20 'teaser' photos about ten days after the wedding. Then 90 days later, I received 450 photos on two flash drives (they came in the mail from Lauren in a sad, torn envelope) - not edited nor color corrected, with so many bad, blurry, washed out, over-exposed and repetitive shots that a professional photographer would have edited out. I reached out to Lauren twice but she never called me. I know stuff happens and photography can be tricky but I wanted this to have a positive outcome (and a positive Yelp review). Months later I'm going through all the photos again, trying to put an album together and am unable to understand how our experience with Lauren is so completely different from all her other reviews. read more

For the first few months of my daughter's life the majority of our group photos were coffee shop selfies--her sleeping and me looking like an exhausted mom. As the days wore on, she got bigger and I looked a little more rested in the photos, but they were still coffee shop selfies. At five months we felt like we were getting the hang of things and having fun and I wanted some photos to capture these moments. I emailed Lauren and she responded promptly. We discussed some dates and picked a package. Lauren came to our home to photograph my family. She was patient, fun, and engaging. I hardly recognized our home and felt like Lauren captured the joy of being parents. Lauren used the natural lighting in our home and was terrific at getting our five month old daughter to look at the camera. We are very happy with Lauren's work. I hate pictures. I have always hated pictures. Prior to my shoot with LC, I equated premeditated "headshots" with literal headshots, something like a blow to the head but with evidence that people can hang on their walls, frame, or decorate. However, the other commentees are right in their reviews. Lauren rocks. I felt comfortable, without anxiety, and even managed to keep both eyes open and maintain a toothy smile (that looked sincere) for the camera. She was laid back, fun, and made occupying a random warehouse space with a stranger a - surprisingly - comfortable experience. It was actually kind of fun. Lauren is FANTASTIC!! My sister-in-law hired her to do a family photo shoot for my husband, kids, and me as a Christmas gift. Lauren was professional and friendly every time we spoke. The day of the shoot was so much fun! We have rambunctious twin boys who were 1 1/2 at the time and Lauren was the first person (outside of our nanny and my husband) who was able to get them to smile and even pose for shots. I told her exactly the type of photos I liked (not always so posed, but just candid, "life-as-it-happens" kind of shots) and she captured everything we could've wanted perfectly. Lauren and her work are PHENOMENAL. My husband and I cannot rave enough about the exceedingly positive experience we had with Lauren for our wedding in late June! Looking for a photographer was one of my least favorite and difficult tasks of the wedding planning process, as most of the wedding pictures I viewed online seemed painfully cheesy and artificial. I was also dreading working with a photographer, mainly because I'm awfully camera shy and far from photogenic. After having gone through a countless number of websites with pictures that made us cringe, my husband finally discovered Lauren. Looking through her previous work, we noticed and really loved how she is able to capture genuine expressions and moments. Lauren was always responsive and accommodating leading up to the wedding. Not even a month out from the wedding day, my husband and I decided we actually did want to get our "engagement" photos taken. We asked if Lauren had availability, knowing it was a long shot given the short notice. Despite her full schedule, she was kind enough to make time for us. I was initially very nervous about being in front of the camera, but Lauren's way of putting you at ease and great sense of humor had my husband and I laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire session. On top of it all, we were so surprised when she got the pictures to us only a few weeks after - in the middle of peak wedding season! - just so that we could have an idea of what our wedding pictures would look like. As for the wedding day, working with Lauren was one of the highlights. Her positive energy was contagious and all of the guests only had great things to say about her. Several asked how we'd found Lauren and noted how she's extremely detail-oriented and meticulous with her shots, unlike other photographers they'd seen at weddings. Family members mentioned how impressed they were with her work ethic and professionalism. In addition, she got along and worked very well with our other vendors, especially the videographers. Lauren also went out of her way to make the day less nerve-wracking for us, which I'm especially grateful for and found so touching. I was harboring a nasty cold and cough, and Lauren at one point made me a special drink that helped calm my coughing and nerves! She was discreet and unobtrusive, yet at the same time, always present to check in on me or my husband. She played a big part in keeping us relaxed and it very much felt like we had a caring friend instead of a wedding vendor. Finally, and most importantly, the wedding pictures came out *beautifully* and much better than we could have ever imagined! Between the engagement session and the wedding, Lauren seemed to have really gotten to know how we are in front of the camera, along with our style and preferences from the engagement session, and then used this all to deliver STUNNING wedding photos. We're still in awe of some of the emotions and special moments she was able to capture! We cannot recommend Lauren enough! Deciding to work with Lauren was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we're so thankful and happy that she was a part of it. We were moving back to TX a week later and wanted to memorialize our time in NYC with some professional photos. We booked Lauren for our mid-September maternity session and I can not say enough good words about this experience. First of all she is an incredibly warm person and it felt totally natural to walk with her around Central Park. The photo session itself was very fun and did not feel like hard work (I had some tough previous experiences with other photographers). Now, my husband can not take pictures, he feels awkward and you can usually read it all over his face. Lauren was able to put us at ease very quickly and we felt relaxed through the whole session (had a couple of really good laughs. My major request was to avoid stagey photos by all means, since it was a maternity session and I personally felt weird attempting to look graceful while holding my bump (kudos to those of you ladies, who can actually pull it off ). Not only Lauren managed to give me everything I asked for, but she also caught some moments I do not even remember. All pictures look very natural and tasteful and I can not be happier. Communication was great the whole time and booking process was a breeze ( Finding photographer in NYC can be a real pain). It is super easy to reach her by email, which is my preferred method of contact. Final result was stunning and she provided a sneak peak within a couple of days. We got our gallery up in exactly three weeks, which is terrific for a hot season. I have already ordered a bunch of prints and a canvas to finish my nursery and we are now waiting on a book, which I am sure will look amazing as well. Lauren captures the inner and outer beauty of her subjects. I don't even consider her to be a photographer, I think of her as a portrait artist. My wedding photos by her were absolutely stunning - every single one of them. I can't believe how lucky I am to have the best day of my life shot by her.
