I have been a fan of Lauren's work for a long time. Lauren was my first choice to shoot my wedding, and I'm so glad I went with my gut and hired her. There is so much more to wedding photography than shooting and editing. Lauren is quite good at both of those things, but her star attribute is her confidence and ability to direct, frame, capture and highlight. My wife and I do not find ourselves to be photogenic people, but Lauren made us feel like rockstars. She is a true creative who puts passion into all of her photography projects. During the planning process, Lauren was extremely proactive in getting to know us and our families. We had a lengthy FaceTime chat, corresponded via email, and filled out an in-depth survey about ourselves, the wedding, the people in it, and all of the important shots/portraits we wanted. She came to our rehearsal the night before to meet everyone, and she and I went to the venue morning of to scout locations. She has such an attention to detail, and works hard for the client to make sure everything is perfect. When it comes to the most important moments and events in your life, hire a true professional. Lauren is just that, and we can't begin to express how much we enjoyed working with her. Thanks, Lauren! read more

Lauren Colchamiro Photography - Event Photography Near Me

As a wanna-be photographer, I am very picky about who I let shoot for my events. Sometimes its not just about the right angle or color (although she gets that right all of the time), its also about catching emotion and depth. Lauren catches those perfect moments every time. From wedding photos to birthday photography, she can basically do it all. She came highly recommended from a friend who just did a birthday shoot with her, and after looking at the portfolio, It was clear she was the right choice. My photos came out perfectly, and that's even with my pterodactyl shaped face. Definitely first choice when I'm on the East Coast. Will have her do more work for me soon. Thanks Lauren! read more

Lauren has an incredible eye and is great at directing you in your shots. She asks all the right questions and figures out how to capture who you really are while making sure you look your best. She is also so much fun to work with! I've worked with her on headshots and absolutely love her family and wedding work as well! read more

There is no photographer I trust as much as Lauren. Her eye for composition is unmatched, and her photos always come out absolutely gorgeous. She's willing to lend a kind ear to your complaints about your making sure your smile looks okay or hiding a zit you're worried about, and will do everything she can to make you feel 100% comfortable. Her positivity, charm and sense of humor will have you let your guard down, and the resulting photos will make you look happier and more confident than you could've imagined. I've had her do headshots for me a few times for various career-related ventures, and I really don't understand why anyone would hire anyone else. Now that you know that she exists, you have no excuse. read more

My review is almost a year overdue but let me start off my saying Lauren is an amazing photographer and such a wonderful person! In April 2013, Lauren took my wedding photos. She was simply AMAZING. My husband and I booked Lauren for 2 full days. She was tireless, smart, funny, and so warm & caring. From the beginning of meeting her, Lauren's process of explaining the contract and booking was done with ease - she was always available for me to talk to her on phone, email and text. On the first day of our photo shoot with my entire family & my husband's family as well as some of our close friend - SO MANY PEOPLE and across five locations in Brooklyn, NY!! Lauren was patient with me and helped me shaped my vision of my 'Brooklyn' theme wedding shoot. Even before I saw the pictures, Lauren's work ethic made me know for sure the pictures were going to be amazing and they were! She was so focused and determined to get the shot. My family & friends all loved her. My pictures are a dream come true. On the second day of our photo shoot, our wedding day, Lauren took such great care of me. She was calming and helpful. I was so nervous and wanted the day to be perfect and Lauren knew exactly what I needed. She was not intrusive but always present. I had the most wonderful days and Lauren captured them so amazingly. Please don't even hesitate to hire Lauren. You won't be disappointed. I already plan to hire Lauren for baby photos, anniversary photos, and anything else I need! She is the best!!! I still follow her work, read her blogs, follow her Facebook & Instagram because I love her work so much. Thank you, Lauren for such amazing memories! read more

I contacted Lauren about a month and a half before the eventual proposal date. Lauren was really quick to respond to my email and provided detailed information as to how to make this special day happen. We were also able to meet beforehand in Dumbo, Brooklyn to scout for good locations. Lauren was a really amazing help in all my preparations. On an already nerve racking but exciting day, she was able to give us good direction and also provide professional insight on how to position ourselves to get better shots. The photos came out really well, and my now fiancee really enjoys showing them to our friends and family. If she's happy, I'm happy. We couldn't have done it without Lauren Colchamiro Photography and look forward to working with you in the future, so thanks Lauren! read more

Lauren is beyond brilliant. I sent my fiance to her for professional business headshots and am FLOORED at how amazing each photograph is; we could barely choose just one favorite to feature prominently on his various profiles. Lauren's visual style is contemporary and approachable--perfect for a young business professional. I will definitely be back for photoshoots of future important events, or, heck, even just my cats. She makes everything look gorgeous! read more

My wife and I have had two photoshoots from Lauren now and both were amazing. The first was with the super-hyper, always excited family dog who Lauren had no problem handling. He has since passed and we're incredibly thankful that she was able to capture his personality so perfectly. The pictures are a wonderful everyday reminder of what a great part of our family he was. The second was a post-elopement photo shoot in DUMBO which was one of our first date spots. She knew a lot of great spots and the whole day was a lot of fun. Lauren made the whole session very comfortable. We had a lot of fun and the pictures really show it. Lauren is a great photographer and we will definitely be back for our next big life event :) read more

My Fiancee dreamed about having our engagement photos done in NYC since that is where I proposed this summer. Since we didn't know any photographers she did her homework and stumbled upon Lauren Colchamiro Photography. We scheduled are session a couple months out and we completed the session a couple days before Thanksgiving. It was cold and gloomy but the photos she took were amazing. Everyone we have showed the photos too were amazed and said they were the best they had seen in terms of engagement photo sessions. Lauren was nice, on-time, upfront, and fun to work with. We plan on using her again each year for update pictures. read more

Lauren just shot our wedding this weekend - I haven't seen the photos yet, BUT I have the utmost faith and confidence in the final product from her portfolio and seeing her work at my cousin's wedding a few months ago. This review is about Lauren's professionalism, approach to work and personality---have no fear--they are all awesome! Lauren was right on time, had a copy of my shot list handy and proactively sought out creative photo opts for our portraits in the neighborhood. To get the pefect shot/angle, she will climb on walls! We never felt like we were with a "vendor", but instead with a good friend who was taking some shots. Do not hesitate to reach out to her for your next job--she's great! Follow-up to my original post: I received my photos from Lauren 6 weeks after our wedding. (This is a small miracle in wedding world.) And they are A-MAZING! Very happy. read more

My wife and I hired Lauren take the photos for our wedding ceremony and reception at the Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia (June, 2017) and we were seriously amazed buy how beautiful they were. She was extremely knowledgable and professional, guiding us through the process leading up to the event and making sure to get a clear timeline of the day from us so that she would know where to be for each important moment. She even got to the space early to scope out picturesque locations in the neighborhood. It is so important to have a calm, collected, and experienced photographer on a day where you have so much going on! The photographs really captured the joy and energy in the facial expressions of our guests, which is a true trademark of her style. I cannot tell you how many compliments we have received on our photographs from the wedding. Hire her for your wedding - you will not regret it!! She is amazing and was a joy to work with :) read more

First let me start by saying my husband and I have never been moved to write a review, but after getting all of our photos back, knew we wanted to share our recommendation of Lauren as your wedding photographer, immediately. Where do we start? Lauren is amazing. Throughout the entire process, from initially emailing with her about our interest, to sitting down and chatting with her about our vision to the day of the wedding- she was professional, organized and mindful of our needs. From the beginning, I expressed to Lauren my concern about being photographed, given how admittedly unphotogenic I am. I have a very forced and unnatural smile when taking posed photographs and I was anxiety ridden thinking we wouldn't get one decent portrait or family picture the entire wedding. Lauren assured me time and time again that I would look beautiful and natural and that she'd make sure we had lots of great photos to choose from and my lord, did she deliver! The fact that we walked away with hundreds of amazing photos is a testament to how comfortable she made us feel! Having her photograph the wedding was like having a close friend with us, rather than a random wedding vendor. Lauren made it her business to draw the most sincere and genuine smiles from everyone she photographed. She is the perfect balance of professional and fun and we received tons of photos where our guests are in hysterical laughter because of her! My husband and I were blown away at the incredible photos she was able to capture- moments in time we weren't even aware of during the night of the wedding. Looking through our wedding gallery we were able to relive our wedding, because every facet and scene of the night was caught in amazing photographs. Lauren was able to place herself exactly where she needed to be for what seems like every photo. I don't know how she does it! She's everywhere all at once! More than anything though, she is so warm and professional. We knew we could ask her for anything we needed or wanted and that she would deliver with a smile. Similarly, there were things we didn't remember to ask for that she made certain to capture as well. All in all, we could not be more excited and grateful about our incredible wedding photos, which ultimately, is how we will remember that magical night forever. We cannot recommend Lauren more highly! Thanks again for the incredible work you do- I hope we will be calling you for baby bump photos in the coming years! ;) read more

We hired Lauren for our destination wedding. She was a great communicator in email with listening to the kinds of pictures we wanted and giving suggestions. We ended up started in Brooklyn and ending up in Central park. Lauren is so sweet and likable. She immediately put us at ease. She had to work extra hard without her assistant and we had a lot of heavy stuff to carry plus two huge brooch bouquets that she lugged around while taking amazing photos. Lauren gave us a couple of sneak peaks while we were shooting, and they looked so beautiful. Seeing all of the pictures- I couldn't of asked for better shots. She even took pictures that I had no idea she captured. There is a great variety and it is exactly what I asked for- and more. We wanted unconventional pictures with graffiti and grit. We got edgy photos, but we also got so many that captured our outdoor venue so beautifully. Lauren is amazingly talented and you will not be disappointed. read more

Every wedding photographer we contacted was already booked when I turned to Yelp and found Lauren who was available. Since I live on the West coast, my daughter (who was her sister's wedding planner) met with her in Brooklyn and, based on her website's photos, we all agreed we liked her style and thought she would be great. It looked like Lauren was getting a lot of good shots. She emailed us 20 'teaser' photos about ten days after the wedding. Then 90 days later, I received 450 photos on two flash drives (they came in the mail from Lauren in a sad, torn envelope) - not edited nor color corrected, with so many bad, blurry, washed out, over-exposed and repetitive shots that a professional photographer would have edited out. I reached out to Lauren twice but she never called me. I know stuff happens and photography can be tricky but I wanted this to have a positive outcome (and a positive Yelp review). Months later I'm going through all the photos again, trying to put an album together and am unable to understand how our experience with Lauren is so completely different from all her other reviews. read more

I work for a very small non-profit organization; we recently hired Lauren to shoot photos of an annual event. She was a complete delight to work with--very professional and prompt, great sense of humor, easy to communicate with, was very patient, and made sure we got all the shots we needed to. She also worked with us on our budget, which was a huge help. The photos were equally great; Lauren has a great eye for composition and color. The shots she got were dynamic, fun, and really captured the spirit of the event. We will definitely work with Lauren again, and cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

For the first few months of my daughter's life the majority of our group photos were coffee shop selfies--her sleeping and me looking like an exhausted mom. As the days wore on, she got bigger and I looked a little more rested in the photos, but they were still coffee shop selfies. At five months we felt like we were getting the hang of things and having fun and I wanted some photos to capture these moments. I emailed Lauren and she responded promptly. We discussed some dates and picked a package. Lauren came to our home to photograph my family. She was patient, fun, and engaging. Lauren was a little late to the shoot and to make up for it gave us extra time that enabled us to go to the nearby park for some more photos. The photos were amazing. I hardly recognized our home and felt like Lauren captured the joy of being parents. Lauren used the natural lighting in our home and was terrific at getting our five month old daughter to look at the camera. We are very happy with Lauren's work. The photos she took are beautiful and captured a special moment in our lives. Lauren was dedicated to getting us great photos and thoughtful in her editing. read more

Lauren documented our wedding in late 2012, and her photographs came out beautifully. We were 100% satisfied, and found her to be a delight to work with. It's too bad we know so many people in dysfunctional relationships, otherwise we'd recommend her to everyone. Thanks again Lauren. Simon and Kim. read more

I hate pictures. I have always hated pictures. Prior to my shoot with LC, I equated premeditated "headshots" with literal headshots, something like a blow to the head but with evidence that people can hang on their walls, frame, or decorate. However, the other commentees are right in their reviews. Lauren rocks. I felt comfortable, without anxiety, and even managed to keep both eyes open and maintain a toothy smile (that looked sincere) for the camera. She was laid back, fun, and made occupying a random warehouse space with a stranger a - surprisingly - comfortable experience. It was actually kind of fun. This is coming from a guy who has a picture of a boot for a Facebook picture. read more

Lauren is an amazing photographer. I hired Lauren a few weeks ago to take pictures of south Brooklyn for my blog. I do photography myself, but I've been out of the hobby for a few years. She took photos, black and white, and color, for my blog. Every photo came out amazing. This girl knows her camera, and she works it! She will be on the shortlist for my next blog post. Just amazing...the angles she took, her professionalism, the results...I can't wait to work with you again. read more

I've hired Lauren to take photos for a long time and her work keeps getting better and better. Having twin nephews, she's like a baby whisperer and is a master at calming kids (and families) down for pictures. I've worked with Lauren to take professional headshots for work *and* family pics. She's super easy to be around and puts camera shy people at ease! read more

We selected the vacation package and Lauren met us for an hour at the location of our choice. She is a talented photographer. I ended up with more pictures than I had hoped and she magically made my husband and I look about 10 years younger. Good thing she didn't make my son look 10 years younger since he is only 8. Pick Lauren to be your photographer if you like her style of photography. I know I do! read more

Great personality and good style. She's got a keen eye and is so easy to work with. Felt super relaxed and she's super talented. We loved our photos and made holiday cards out of them! read more

Lauren is FANTASTIC!! My sister-in-law hired her to do a family photo shoot for my husband, kids, and me as a Christmas gift. Lauren was professional and friendly every time we spoke. The day of the shoot was so much fun! We have rambunctious twin boys who were 1 1/2 at the time and Lauren was the first person (outside of our nanny and my husband) who was able to get them to smile and even pose for shots. I told her exactly the type of photos I liked (not always so posed, but just candid, "life-as-it-happens" kind of shots) and she captured everything we could've wanted perfectly. Lauren is very sweet, down to earth, and super professional, and her ability to capture perfect little moments is amazing. The final photo books we received from her were so well done and the pictures came out better than I was hoping for! I will be recommending Lauren and using her again in the future. read more

Lauren and her crew photographed a friend's wedding last year, and my husband and I liked her work so much that we knew we wanted her for our own wedding this past July. Lauren and Rachel were the photographers at our wedding, and they were wonderful. Lauren is amazingly professional, and also very warm and personable. And so organized! Several members of my wedding party mistook her for our wedding planner because she generally had a better idea of what was going on and who was where than even me or the groom. I am generally pretty camera shy, but Lauren did a great job of making me feel comfortable and working around my general awkwardness. Our pictures came out wonderfully, and she was a pleasure to work with. I'll be recommending her to pretty much everyone. read more

We hired Lauren for a photoshoot around Williamsburg with the two of us and our two doggies. We were moving back to TX a week later and wanted to memorialize our time in NYC with some professional photos. Lauren was so helpful before the shoot date, giving me ideas for what we could do for locations and always being responsive to my questions and thoughts. During the shoot she was great, guiding us when we needed it for posing and such, and also letting us throw in ideas for shots we wanted to get on the fly. She is such a fun, friendly person and really made the whole experience a blast and immediately put us at ease, as neither of us like having our pics taken. She was also great with the dogs, and the photos she got of them are just amazing! She is super talented and has a great style, which resulted in amazing photos from our session. I'm just sad we now live in TX and can no longer use her for future life events! I highly recommend Lauren for whatever photography needs you may have!! read more

Lauren and her work are PHENOMENAL. My husband and I cannot rave enough about the exceedingly positive experience we had with Lauren for our wedding in late June! Looking for a photographer was one of my least favorite and difficult tasks of the wedding planning process, as most of the wedding pictures I viewed online seemed painfully cheesy and artificial. I was also dreading working with a photographer, mainly because I'm awfully camera shy and far from photogenic. After having gone through a countless number of websites with pictures that made us cringe, my husband finally discovered Lauren. Looking through her previous work, we noticed and really loved how she is able to capture genuine expressions and moments. Lauren was always responsive and accommodating leading up to the wedding. Not even a month out from the wedding day, my husband and I decided we actually did want to get our "engagement" photos taken. We asked if Lauren had availability, knowing it was a long shot given the short notice. Despite her full schedule, she was kind enough to make time for us. I was initially very nervous about being in front of the camera, but Lauren's way of putting you at ease and great sense of humor had my husband and I laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire session. On top of it all, we were so surprised when she got the pictures to us only a few weeks after - in the middle of peak wedding season! - just so that we could have an idea of what our wedding pictures would look like. As for the wedding day, working with Lauren was one of the highlights. Her positive energy was contagious and all of the guests only had great things to say about her. Several asked how we'd found Lauren and noted how she's extremely detail-oriented and meticulous with her shots, unlike other photographers they'd seen at weddings. Family members mentioned how impressed they were with her work ethic and professionalism. In addition, she got along and worked very well with our other vendors, especially the videographers. Lauren also went out of her way to make the day less nerve-wracking for us, which I'm especially grateful for and found so touching. I was harboring a nasty cold and cough, and Lauren at one point made me a special drink that helped calm my coughing and nerves! She was discreet and unobtrusive, yet at the same time, always present to check in on me or my husband. She played a big part in keeping us relaxed and it very much felt like we had a caring friend instead of a wedding vendor. Finally, and most importantly, the wedding pictures came out *beautifully* and much better than we could have ever imagined! Between the engagement session and the wedding, Lauren seemed to have really gotten to know how we are in front of the camera, along with our style and preferences from the engagement session, and then used this all to deliver STUNNING wedding photos. We're still in awe of some of the emotions and special moments she was able to capture! We cannot recommend Lauren enough! Deciding to work with Lauren was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we're so thankful and happy that she was a part of it. She is an exceptionally talented photographer and a true professional. We'll definitely continue to follow her amazing work and hope to work again with her sometime in the future. Thank you, Lauren, for making our special day even more special! read more

We are so lucky and fortunate to have found Lauren. We first met Lauren for our maternity photos, and in the past year, we have already booked her for 3 additional shoots (newborn, 1 year, and professional headshots). Every single time, she delivers amazing work. Our family loves her for 2 reasons: 1. She's phenomenal to work with and is a pro at dealing with all things kids in order to get the best shot (how to distract them, how to get the best angles, and tips that only baby experts know). 2. Her editing work is ridiculously impressive. Not only is she able to capture the shot, but her talent really shines when it comes to the editing and post work. Lauren is now our go-to photographer hands down. Love her work and you'd be lucky to work with her! read more

We booked Lauren for our mid-September maternity session and I can not say enough good words about this experience. First of all she is an incredibly warm person and it felt totally natural to walk with her around Central Park. The photo session itself was very fun and did not feel like hard work (I had some tough previous experiences with other photographers). Now, my husband can not take pictures, he feels awkward and you can usually read it all over his face. Lauren was able to put us at ease very quickly and we felt relaxed through the whole session (had a couple of really good laughs. My major request was to avoid stagey photos by all means, since it was a maternity session and I personally felt weird attempting to look graceful while holding my bump (kudos to those of you ladies, who can actually pull it off ). Not only Lauren managed to give me everything I asked for, but she also caught some moments I do not even remember. All pictures look very natural and tasteful and I can not be happier. Communication was great the whole time and booking process was a breeze ( Finding photographer in NYC can be a real pain). It is super easy to reach her by email, which is my preferred method of contact. Final result was stunning and she provided a sneak peak within a couple of days. We got our gallery up in exactly three weeks, which is terrific for a hot season. I have already ordered a bunch of prints and a canvas to finish my nursery and we are now waiting on a book, which I am sure will look amazing as well. Overall very positive experience and I will make sure to book her again for my newborn session:) read more

Lauren is one of the most talented photographers out there. She took amazing photos for my husband's Kickstarter campaign. She has an incredible eye and produces the highest quality pictures. We recently had a family photo shoot with Lauren Colchamiro and her fantastic assistant. My husband and I have three small children and she was extremely patient and helpful with our kids. I am very grateful that we could fit in two locations. Lauren also took a few headshots for us. She knew exactly where to position all five of us to get the perfect shot. Lauren is very professional and let us view our photos in a timely manner. I highly recommend Lauren if you live in NYC/Brooklyn or if you are visiting the city! read more

Lauren did my wedding pictures two years ago, and she just did my newborn pictures as well. She is amazing! I will never do photography with anyone else. She has an incredibly positive attitude and really puts her subjects at ease... I'm tired and stressed with a new baby, and Lauren somehow made the whole thing seem easy and fun. The baby definitely picked up on her vibe and was SO calm and chill (WAY more than normal). And the finished pictures are beautiful. Can't recommend Lauren highly enough. read more

Lauren captures the inner and outer beauty of her subjects. I don't even consider her to be a photographer, I think of her as a portrait artist. My wedding photos by her were absolutely stunning - every single one of them. I can't believe how lucky I am to have the best day of my life shot by her. I may not be the most objective opinion, but I think that the top 10 of the bunch are gorgeous enough to hang in a museum! You can see her professionalism in her formal portraits, her intellect and her amazing talent in her candids, and her total mastery when you view her entire selection at once. I feel as though I've been blessed with a National Geographic photo essay, or a gallery collection. She is remarkable and I highly recommend her to anyone for any occasion. read more

As a person who does not enjoy being photographed I can not stress enough how comfortable Lauren was able to make this process for me. I needed some profile pics and when Lauren sent me the ones I chose I was blown away by the finished product. My racoon eyes were gone! By far the most flattering pics of myself I'd ever seen. If you want someone to make professional photograpy look easy work with Lauren, she's the best! read more

I'm sorry this took me soo long Lauren! Lauren took pictures of our family this fall with our not so newborn at 4 weeks old. I cannot say enough good things about her work. She was so easy to work with and creative and had a great flow. It was completely not stressful and we actually had a lot of fun. Most importantly we are two of the most unphotogenic people you will meet and she took so many great shots that we now have an incredible album. Our photos far surpassed our expectations and we can't wait to use her again. Thanks Lauren!! read more

We love Lauren. She does the most amazing job with our boys. She captures their personality and we only use her for our family photos. She is just the best. Very accomodating. Lauren has photographed 3 milestone events for me and I can't even begin to express how wonderfully and beautifully she captured the essence of each. She creates timeless, yet modern photographs. Also, Lauren is able to make everyone feel at ease while arranging wonderful shots, but she also also has a talent for capturing intimate candid moments.
