I hired Flahavan construction after i received several quotes for my garage conversion project…read more Right off the bat I like Chris's (owner) demeanor and professionalism. The quote and timetable came back quickly with everything accounted for. I preferred that he change a few things to my specs and he had no problem accommodating me. After we agreed to a contract and having Chris explained a few of the unknown factors that could pop up and cause a little delay (as to be expected on a building this old" we got started. I was pleased that Chris was on site for the duration of the build. He was right on with his guesses at some of the unknown (ie having to run new electrical from the main panel, some minor roof repairs, etc) and handled them with speed and precision. Even at the end when I realized that I did want to install flooring, security lights, base boards and toe kick, Chris was on it with no problem. In fact, he even fixed my poor broken down fence for just cost of parts when he saw that it was about to come toppling down. The project was completed almost on the time estimate given even with a bunch of surprise problems that you cant calculate for until your knee deep in this kind of project. The rest of the delay was due to my own indecisiveness on what type of flooring, what paint color and coordinating with my painters. I couldn't have asked for a better contractor. Payments were made in disbursements as small projects were done. Bills were presented and a walk through was given for each completed task. Final payment was given after all work was done and we were satisfied with the completion. Chris even came back out a few months later to make some minor touch ups for things that I wasn't completely satisfied with. I will definitely hire him again. Thanks for building me a man cave that has all my friends jealous!!

We cannot say enough good things about Rabin General Construction and Richard. From day one,…read moreRichard has been incredibly responsive -- always quick to answer texts and calls, and consistently keeping us updated throughout every step of the process. We initially hired RGC to replace four nail-in windows and one slider because we were experiencing interior water leaks. The work was done quickly and perfectly. We were so impressed that we hired them again for painting and a water heater replacement. Months later, our upstairs (brand new) Milgard windows began leaking. Richard came out right away. He brought in their supplier, Agoura Sash & Door, and even coordinated two separate inspections with Milgard's warranty team. Both times, Milgard said the issue wasn't covered. Instead of walking away or blaming the manufacturer, Richard stood behind the job. He paid out of his own pocket to replace the windows again -- including tearing out stucco, redoing drywall, repainting -- everything. That kind of integrity and accountability is extremely rare in construction. If you want a contractor who truly stands behind his work and treats customers the right way, call Richard. We would hire him again without hesitation.

Every experience has reinforced why they are my first call whenever I need work done. Rich and his crew are professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and incredibly easy to work with. They communicate clearly, show up when they say they will, keep the job site clean, and genuinely care about doing the job the right way--not just the fastest way. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding. Every repair and renovation has been completed with exceptional attention to detail, and it's obvious they take pride in their craft. They don't cut corners, and they treat your home with the same care and respect they would their own. What really sets RGC apart is their customer service. Rich is extremely responsive, keeps you informed throughout the project, and is always willing to answer questions or offer honest advice. It's rare to find a contractor who is this reliable, responsible, and committed to customer satisfaction. Whether it's a major renovation, a plumbing repair, or any other home improvement project, I recommend Rabin General Construction without hesitation. They've earned my trust through consistently excellent work, and they will continue to be my go-to contractor for anything home repair or renovation related.

I think we went back and forth just twice ( he'll probably say it was 3x that). Trying to upsell me he was bragging like 5 times on the phone his house was $6M, it increased to $10M after a few more conversations..pretty hilarious. Also continuous bragging about his number of positive reviews which i really question the authenticity. Finally sent his team the rental contract all filled out by this time it's a couple days before checkin. My entire family had purchased flight tickets/travel arrangements at this time. I get a call from his office saying they are going to allow the current occupants stay thru the weekend and that's it. I called the owner several times and he was not even MAN enough to pick up my phone and talk to me. Actually texted me saying " you snooze you lose buddy". Pretty much told me over the phone i had the place a day ago and there should be no issue. Didn't even have the decency to call me personally to apologize. I'd recommend this property to anyone that wants to deal with a owner that is a complete liar and has absolutely no morals. Totally ruined our labor day plans. Now the owner is probably going to reply back questioning accuracy of my review, I can ASSURE you this review is 100% accurate nothing exaggerated. There is nothing he can say to justify what he did was right.

This year we had concrete poured and the foam was removed that covered the copper lines. We found that they were kinked. This mini split was not touch since they installed it so we contacted them. I was surprised they gave us a hard time, because we specifically kept reminding them during each phase of the room addition that if something was not right they would need to come back. Finally they came out and fixed the cooper lines. We also noticed that water was showing through the brick retaining wall, several areas were damp and turning white. The company that did the cement work also confirmed the problem. The waterproofing was not done correctly. They should have put on a liquid barrier and a material because it was a planter with soil. Several calls were placed, they said they would get back to us but never did. I thought since they worked with the Property Brothers on their show that they would be a company you could count on and provide quality service. I was wrong. They do not back up there work. I am sure if the Property brothers complained they would be back in a heartbeat. So frustrating we paid them a lot to do this work. Tony, Valencia Ca

It was a stressful ordeal and when it came to finding a contractor I met with several before deciding who to hire. Shani from Adar Buildings was my last in person consultation. He was very personable and understanding of my situation. I made the decision to hire this family business to help me put my life back together. They gave the lowest estimate and the shortest time estimate. COMMUNICATION to me is so key when it comes to working with a business. The communication I got from this business is what I'd expect from any business I'm working with. When Shani became unavailable for personal reasons, I was put in touch with the owner who continued to communicate with me through the completion of my project. He made sure to have the little details and touch ups addressed as I brought them up. Again HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Our kids are getting older, and we needed a little more space in the house. Our three kids were…read moresleeping in one little bedroom, and the kitchen was pretty cramped, with a bathroom tucked into a corner by the back door. We also had an outdoor concrete space that was not necessarily being used in the best way - it was a little workout area, sometimes we held birthday parties there, and we had our washer and dryer outside (but under the overhang.) Looking out over this concrete area was a window, from our office. We wanted to expand, but properly - and with all the necessary permits in place. When we first started looking to expand, we thought we could just enclose the concrete space and turn it into an extra room. A few contractors came out to look and said they could do it with some pre-fabricated paneling. AtoZ was the only company that said it would not be a good idea, and they declined our project. After we looked into it more we eventually realized the window from our office was a weird problem - it would open into this new room. We eventually contacted AtoZ again, and asked them to develop more detailed architectural plans - the cost of which could be applied to construction if we decided to use them, since they are a design and build company. Their design had us move the bathroom from the kitchen to a place by the new room entrance - thus expanding our kitchen. They moved the back door and got ride of the office window, turning the area into a hallway into the new room. Their designs made sense, and we ended up working with on the build, too. AtoZ helped get the paperwork done with the city - this was a huge relief as I had heard that Alhambra is a tough place to get the proper permits and paperwork completed. They estimated the work would take 4 months - and everyone I talked to said I should double that because contractors usually over promise. AtoZ finished everything in 3 months - yes, a whole month ahead of schedule. This was done while we stayed and lived in the house - we did not move out while they did their work. They were respectful of our property and our time. They worked hard and got the job done. The new room looks great! We moved our washer and dryer into the back of the kitchen area, and the kitchen still feels bigger. Overall, it feels like we can breathe again. There were a few little touches that I loved about their design and working with this company. They added a skylight to our office, and it has been amazing - it is so bright that the entire room feels bigger. I really appreciated the fact that they told me "no" when I requested certain things, but were very willing to work with me on others. I asked for a window in the new bathroom, but they said they could not and would not add one because it was a "sheer wall" and designed with earthquakes in mind - cutting a hole for a window would compromise the integrity of the wall. They guys said they needed to be able to sleep at night, knowing they built me a safe addition to my home. That is the kind of integrity that I appreciate - they were not willing to sacrifice that for a few more dollars. When made other requests late in the construction phase - namely adding skylights to the bathroom and kitchen - they agreed to install them to accommodate my late request, even though the kitchen was nearly done. They were also very safety oriented - when we caught COVID near the end of construction, they didn't send their guys in because they wanted their group to stay healthy and safe. AtoZ has been a pleasure to work with. This was my first time working with a contractor to do significant work to my home. Their workers were friendly, professional, hard working and trustworthy. There were times I had to leave the house, and they never ventured into areas without my consent. I was worried that I would have to slog through a couple of years of paperwork and construction, but from start to finish AtoZ was professional, friendly and up to the task. Thank you, Rami and Zack - and please thank the crew for us. We are very happy with our remodeled home!
