My children's classes average 12-14 students so teachers understand each child's level of comprehension: which kids need more challenge or more support. At the culmination of an area of study, middle school students complete projects including a written report, presentation, and art project. These occur throughout the year in Humanities, Science, and Spanish/Mandarin with students either working independently or collaborating with classmates. At the middle school level, children receive a moderate amount of homework and are expected to be more thoughtful and thorough with the assignments. As a result, the students develop a deep understanding of the subject matter.

Because it was raining that day, we were directed to New Design High School's Auditorium in the lobby instead of the school's rooftop area. New Design High School's Auditorium is spacious, clean and the seats were comfortable enough as we watched Polite Society. "Rooftop Film Presents: 20th Anniversary of Napoleon Dynamte" Screening was at New Design High School this year. This event celebrated the movie Napoleon Dynamte, created in 2004 & which is considered a cult-classic. We enjoyed viewing Napoleon Dynamte, as it was displayed on New Design High School's rooftop floor via a big screen surrounded by beautiful art murals after the sun set. New Design High School has colorful & vibrant murals / artwork. Rooftop Film Events we have seen showcased at New Design High School have been well organized & well-coordinated. Ore Ida was giving Tarter Tots, I grabbed a couple of Tee Shirts and buttons. We were allowed to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy while watching the movie. My family and I really enjoyed our time. FYI: The amount of steps you have to climb to get to the rooftop is not for the weak. I took my time walking up and it was worth it.

The energetic rousing production of students rose to the occasion w/notable standouts (talent scouts take note) including students in roles of "Evie" & "Jay" w/Tim Hall at the helm (himself a teacher there) & Set Designer Ronald F. Herrera w/ a set design at once urban gritty & fairytale ethereal. Over the top costumes by Michael Schloegl. A welcome poignant musical that warmed the heart amid frigid NY temps.
