We had a death in our family and I have been working with Cindy at Busse & Rieck remotely from Los Angeles to send items in honor of our family member. The level of customer service was incredible, so caring and the attention to detail was amazing. Her willingness to send pictures and options, her patience, her upbeat attitude, this is old school customer care, which is rare these days! Would you pay over $60 for this flower arrangement? Never will I ever use Busse & Rieck again ! I did not know that Tholen's bought them out. I am so disappointed in this arrangement especially since I specifically requested the flowers be purple. But "pink carnations" ~ give me a break! Granted, it's pretty & the recipient loves it (which is the main thing) ~ but I feel like I got ripped. I called to express my disappointment in a very friendly manner ~ but the manager Julie didn't even apologize. She turned it on me saying I didn't order it correctly. On May 11, my car was parked and unoccupied. When approaching my car I noticed someone hit my car. I went to the business that I was at and had them check their cameras. long story short one of busse and riecks driver backed up into my car then left the scene, with fighting with their insurance company I decided I would reach out to the owners ( Sue and Steve tholen) to see if we could work out something. Neither one of them contacted me back. For owning a business I would definitely reach out to the individual that was hit by one of THEIR DRIVERS but, instead I heard nothing from them. My car is now totaled. I will NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING from this business EVER AGAIN. I'm so disgusted one how the owners have acted on this situation. With Mother's Day around the corner and the lockdown going on, trusting others with gifts is a gamble. We live across the country from my MIL but we wanted to make sure she was remembered on Mother's Day. Due to limited and unreliable inventory thanks to the pandemic, the website suggested we go with the "Daily Special" and allow the florist to create an arrangement for us, using the best in stock. Not going to lie, we were nervous a bouquet of baby's breath and carnations was going to be delivered, but we took the risk and the gamble paid off. The bouquet that was delivered (wonderfully early in the day, no less) was just beautiful! The explosion of pink and interesting flowers was amazing. We were so relieved and happy with what they created. We will definitely be ordering again the in future. We were running behind as usual weeks ago and needed a birthday bouquet delivered the next day. Busse & Rieck received our email message on a Sunday when they were closed later in the day (when we realized we needed the bouquet the next day!)...and they not only helped us ASAP on a Monday morning...but they delivered it by a certain time so it would be a grand surprise for our birthday friend! The best service we've had in eons (and we are fortunate to have great service most times where we live, but we needed it done in an area we don't know folks!). So; We tried to use these folks. Little background, My Best Friends Father-in-law passed on Dec 18th 2020, During COVID. I live in St. Louis Metro area and we cannot travel. We called, were put on hold for 10 min. Then they picked up and put us directly on hold. No one said anything when this happen. Waited another 10 Mins on hold. Put back on hold (could hear them talking to each other) but nothing was said to us. We said "Screw this" We called Bada Bloom in Bradley. Long story short, I was always told call; Busse & Rieck growing up. NEVER EVER AGAIN! All my future florist needs will be sent to Bada Bloom in Bradley. Their staff was MORE than helpful. They were sympathetic to our needs and our time. Was NEVER placed on HOLD and they had sincere condolences in their voice. Not HOLD ON, And never say another thing for 20 Mins. AND they were better priced. NEVER SHOP with Busse & Rieck . They Just don't care about customer needs. They have been around forever, maybe too long; ;and forgot how they were founded. Customers...... Ya; us. You prolly need to go ahead and rethink where to go from here. They lost their way. Its NOT just about money. Again; Bada Bloom in Bradley is where to go! read more

Rhonda an employee of Busse and Rieck was rude and abrupt on the phone when I was just trying to track down my missed delivery. If a business gets regular complaints about a front line employee it reflects poorly on the overall perception of the business which is exactly what happened. My brother paid 20.00 for delivery of my floral bouquet, I hope he will in fact be refunded the delivery charge since we picked up the flowers in the hopes of not having to deal with her again. Unfortunate, since I appreciate local business, however, anyone that orders me flowers again I suggest they have them come from elsewhere. If you can't be nice at least be indifferent. read more

I ordered from a third party site - not directly from this florist. This florist delivered the order. I was so worried, but my balloons were delivered so quickly and were truly exceptional. My Dad was thrilled and they cheered up his hospital room nicely. Going forward, I would not hesitate to order directly from them since they did such a wonderful job. I technically did not order from this store because I dont live anywhere close and used a flower delivery website. I was terrified because after I made my order I went to look at reviews of that site... Holy smokes they were ALL bad. Had to be hundreds of bad reviews as well as people posting pictures of the awful flowers they had received. So I have been biting my nails the last 48 hours to say the least.
