Somewhere on a lonely stretch of US Highway 129 sits Busy Bee, a gas station that looked at Buc-ee's and said, hold my beef jerky. Now listen... this is not Buc-ee's. Let's not get reckless. Nobody is confusing this place with the Disney World of gas stations. But Busy Bee absolutely wants you to know it studied the Buc-ee's playbook in great detail and copied enough homework to pass the class. And honestly? Respect. After hours on the road, I pulled in needing gas, caffeine, food, a restroom, and probably some emotional reassurance from the highway gods. Busy Bee delivered on most of it. First off, the bathrooms were clean. Not "gas station clean." Actually clean. That alone immediately moves a roadside stop up at least one full star in America's travel grading system. Then came the snack exploration phase. They had homemade jerky, specialty snacks, random road trip impulse purchases, and enough "well I wasn't planning to buy this but here we are" items to keep me wandering around longer than intended. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a drink and somehow leave holding candied pecans, smoked sausage, and a giant bag of pork rinds you'll later regret in silence. The overall vibe was solid too. Convenient. Clean. Easy stop. Good energy from the place itself. The employees though? Let's just say the staff had the collective facial expression of people who may have originally applied at Buc-ee's and ended up here after the universe made other plans. Nobody was rude. But there was definitely an emotional support shift happening behind the counter. Still, for a highway stop, Busy Bee absolutely gets the job done. It's a good place to refuel both your gas tank and your stomach before heading back into the chaos of interstate survival. This is probably a true three-and-a-half star stop if we're getting technical about it. But Yelp refuses to acknowledge the beauty of nuance, and I'm feeling generous today. Busy Bee was an oasis along our journey! We started seeing signs several miles ahead that cleverly used the word Bee in the message and when we finally saw the exit we were thrilled. First off we were all impressed by the bathroom cleanliness. There was also a full service Dunkin', Burger King, and Pizza place inside. Omg I love this place. I never heard of it until I started reading the poster board signs while driving. This is like a buceees but on a smaller scale but so many hidden gems inside. Bathrooms are huge, nice and clean. And the items that are available range from poundcakes to home items it's just so much inside you could spend at least an hour here can't wait to go back and for them to build more of them. Great for truckers, as they do have showers and other miscellaneous driver amenities as well. read more

We love Busy Bee's. Lots of variety and clean restrooms HOWEVER today we tried to return 2 clothing items we bought 2 weeks ago when we drove up from 4 hours south of here. They were gifts and the recipient got them yesterday as we were all in Tallahassee for graduation. They did not fit right but all tags were still attached and the items were bought at full price and they were still on hangers in the store full price. We stopped at the Live Oak busy bee on I10 exit 283 at 12:43 pm. I had the clothes in the original bag and walked in to the first worker I saw.She was hanging clothes on hangers behind a counter. She was a young African American lady who seemed bored. She told me she couldn't refund my credit card without the original receipt. I told her it had been lost but I had the credit card card I paid with. I got a deer in the headlights look. She said I could get store credit on a gift card if I didn't have the receipt and I agreed. She pulled the items out of my bag , inspected them , checked that sales tags were still on then asked me for my receipt AGAIN. I pulled up the credit card card transaction but she asked me"would you step aside so I can take care of the people behind you ". I told her "our transaction is not done, I am not stepping aside. I still have a 4 hour drive ". She called a manager who was Spanish speaker as first language. I explained to her and she said NO RETURNS AFTER 10 DAYS & ONLY WITH A RECEIPT. I told her I was fine with the store credit and tried to show her the transaction on my credit card. She was unyielding so I told them to please give me the items back & I wanted the number to corporate. The Hispanic woman slid a card to me and said to contact Busy Bee online. They did not give me their names but it was 12:43 pm on Saturday May 2.The black girl went to throw my original bag away and I asked her to please rebag my items. She pushed the bag in my direction and said " Do it yourself!". She told the manager that she never unpacked the bag. The manager stood by the employee and waited for me to gather my items then sarcastically said "I hope you have a good rest of your day". I said "I will. You too." & left. We sent an email to corporate as we were leaving. I used to wait to see a Busy Bee to stop. Never will I go to this one again. Also the corporate website says 14 days for returns but the stores say 10. read more

It's unfortunate that the location In Jasper Florida had such a poor layout and management of traffic flow. It took almost 30 minutes to get out of the parking area. Shoutout to our local community heroes! I loved this amazing venue! It's like an amusement park store feel, but better. Not only does it have Burger King and Dunkin, it also has lots of amazing store brand options. It has so many options for drink machines: Coffees are hot, cold, all strengths, flavors, and hot chocolate too; teas, soda flavors, milkshakes/frozen drinks, and more. There's candies, popcorn, chips, hot dogs/ sausages. They even have little sample cups of puffs and popcorns. There's clothing, souvenirs, and so much more. The store is organized, well lit, and colorful. The restrooms are very clean, spacious, and have beautifully light fixtures. My husband agreed that it was a cool venue! We've been stopping at this busy bee for almost five years and I've never written a review! They still have the cleanest restrooms off i-10. I especially love the boutique side with all the decor, jewelry and candles. My nieces did too! The candy selection has even expanded and increased over the years. Super excited to have found Busy Bee on our drive home to use our Dunkin' Donuts' gift card! I was afraid it would be slim choices, but nope, it was essentially a full DD's inside this gas station shop. Plus, a Burger King in here too! Can't help but wonder which came first, Busy Bee or Buc-ee's as there are definitely similarities! Long story short, this place was an awesome find. Walls of candy, jerky to buy, freeze-dried candies, etc. I couldn't help but try the macarons (Snickers, turtle, and blackberry), and my daughter tried the wedding cake truffle. We enjoyed them all but honestly have been spoiled by a place in Baton Rouge, LA (Les Amis Bake Shoppe) whose macarons are so fresh and crunchy and taste like they are magically transported from France every morning. Honestly, that's the only reason for the 4 not 5 stars...perhaps that's not fair as really, we had no other complaints. So yes, I definitely recommend stopping here for gas, snacks, yummy food, etc! We stopped at Busy Bee in Live Oak today. My husband bought our little ones frozen yogurt, and sat down to let them eat it. When they were finishing up, an employee, Alicia, came over and loudly accused my husband of stealing. He told her no, he had paid for the froyo. She got more aggressive, in front of my children and the rest of the crowded store, insisting he didn't pay and told him he could go pay for it now, or she was calling the police. My husband, still standing there trying to remain calm and wrangle our two young kids, told her she could check the security footage if she'd like, because he did pay. Alicia announced on the loud speaker that she needed to review the theft prevention cameras. Lo and behold, she watched as my husband, kids in tow, waited in line, weighed the froyo, and paid $4, before letting the kids have it. Listen, I know shoplifting happens; that's unfortunate. But publicly embarrassing a dad with his little kids over $4 worth of froyo is overkill. Maybe review the camera footage beforehand...and for that matter, the aggression and rudeness are uncalled for. If he were truly such a hardened criminal to steal $4 worth of toddler-rejected froyo, this could have escalated, putting other customers or employees at risk. A misunderstanding is one thing, but the way she treated my husband was so not okay. Alicia needs some training or maybe a nap. Yikes. read more

Wow, we walked in and we both said to each other this is like Buccees! That is a huge compliment coming from Texans. The bathrooms had lovely decor, were well lit and clean. So many food items to choose from. A great selection of local and name brand food treasures. And of course the crazy candy section had the kids in awe. Busy Bee is another one of those establishments that combine gas station and a general store that combine for a roadside tourist trap. This particular location is just off of Interstate 10 and is a nice diversion from the road where you can fuel up your vehicle, maybe get a drink or a bite to eat from either a fast food option or maybe a hot dog off the griller, or bring home some kind of sweet and/or a trinket that until you saw it you did not realize it was an item you could not live without. This stop is located northbound I10. I just have to say that this is the fanciest and cleanest rest stop I have been to in Florida. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the bathroom and it was so clean and literally decorated more tastefully than any airport bathroom I have been to internationally and nationally. I was very confused. My husband told me there were TVs in the men's bathroom. This rest area includes is a gas station, electric car charging station, fast food options, and a upscale/novelty convenience store (very similar to Cracker Barrel if you have been there). Every convenience store/gas station in the US needs to take notes from Busy Bee! This was the most unique convenient store I have ever come across in all my travels. It's off I-10 between Jacksonville and Tallahassee. You can find almost as much in this convenience store as you can find at Walmart. There were clothes, car accessories, fresh chocolate and candy shops, Burger King and Dunkin Donuts. Check out my pictures as I'm sure I forgot something LOL. My friends purchased stainless steel cups with lids and straws for our trip to New Orleans as they forgot to bring one from home. The cups were $29.99 each. I went to Burger King and purchased a sausage and egg croissan'wich. I also purchased a chocolate milk in the convenience store to go with my breakfast. When I tell you this place is a must-see I'm not joking. Busy Bee will forever make me think all other convenient stores are slackers;) And I cannot forget to tell you about our first stop, the ladies room. I felt like I was walking into a nightclub LOL. The restrooms were squeaky clean with chandelier type lights over the sinks. And I loved the toilet. Everyone has their own individual restroom with full walls and a regular door. This is like a smaller, scaled down Buccee's and I like it! It's obviously not as crazy but still offers a ton of things similar to them. You can fill up your tank and run in for a drink, snack and bathroom break. I need to add that the bathroom was impressively nice and clean! That's always a plus especially while on a road trip.
