My experience in this business was actually insane, not greeted with a smile but with attitude, something that stood out to me most was one of your employees, Juliana Ozbay. Juliana is a horrible asset to your business, she was very rude and untrustworthy, I have never once felt so horrible walking into a place, having her at the front ruins my day walking into Publix, I usually enjoy this store, Juliana makes it non enjoyable. First and foremost, I am floored that these reviews appear to be related to various locations. All OTHER THAN the address listed. I've experienced none of the negative comments detailed. The Lake City store is superbly clean. Staff is pleasant and helpful. As every Publix is. It was such a thrill to see one here. I had one grouchy lady at customer service but thankfully haven't seen her lately. The store managers are extremely welcoming and although they are extremely busy for being the closest location in an increasingly growing area their grocery goods quality and customer services reign at the top of the line. My one negative was an older guy handing off his grocery cart and it had a mess from a dog in the basket. Soon after Publix revised their animal policy which makes sense after gross instances of inconsideration. Not at all a reflection of the awesome product and service at this location. read more

Publix had become the leading supermarket in Florida and has since expanded throughout the southeastern United States. They became the leading supermarket by putting a strong emphasis on customer service. They bring the adage "the customer is always right" to new levels. Add to this fantastic BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals and that alone makes for a winning combination. Add to this the iconic subs that they make in their deli (affectionately known as Pub Subs) and they become virtually unbeatable. These subs are pretty amazing. I usually go with their Italian sub or their roast beef. Both are excellent and I guess anything you would order at their deli counter would be a winner. I must say that I would definitely recommend this particular location or any Publix, for that matter. I choose to give it five stars for their steps in making sure a visit to a Publix is always a wonderful experience. read more

I know everyone just loves Publix and talks continuously about the " Pub Sub." I've never fallen for the hype and have always been a fan of the " Beef People " chain. Those who love Publix also talk about the wonderful service and abundance of knowledgeable employees. Not here in Lake City!! It was complete chaos. The " Pub Sub " lady was under severe duress. So much so that we opted for chicken over sandwiches. There simply were not enough employees working on a 100-degree Saturday afternoon. 3 stars for the chicken! Usually, Publix overbatters the chicken, and you get masses of fried hard chunks and very little chicken. We actually got some normal fried, very good chicken pieces and wings. Saved the whole review. I mentioned that it was a Saturday afternoon and a beautiful 100-degree summer day. What large, corporate, mass money-making machine of a grocery store doesn't have watermelon? This Publix. When we asked about watermelon, an employee said, " I think we had some on Memorial Day. " What???? That was 2 weeks ago. Anyway, I'm going to continue to avoid the cult like appeal of Publix and do my shopping at good ol Jacksonville based Winn-Dixie. read more

We finally contacted our oldest grandson who came to our rescue. During our wait, the employees and Assistant Manager were so helpful and concerned. Publix is slipping tremendously in the way of customer service. There's a heavyset, unattractive black guy; who was not wearing a name tag, who is the rudest obtuse employee I've ever dealt with at any Publix. He stood at the byway passage from the prepared foods, and the produce area; AirPods in ears, and phone in hand. He stood blocking my way, with a cart filled with groceries, and an infant in the cart also, while I said; please excuse me five times, as he ignored me. He very slowly began to move, as if he was in a showdown. I left the cart where I stood, got my baby out, and walked out of the store. I've been shopping at the Lake City Commons Publix for almost two years now, and it has NEVER been "a pleasure". Rather, shopping there has always been a stressful experience. This Publix, the ONLY ONE in Lake City, is struggling to keep up. The aisles are crowded not only with shoppers but also with stockers and their large carts, restocking shelves during store hours. It can be difficult trying to shop around them, especially when they are restocking the item I need or something next to it. Maneuvering a shopping cart around them and all the other shoppers, aisle after aisle, requires patience. The deli workers move extremely slow; the deli typically requires a min. 10-15 minutes wait, even when the lines are short, due to the slow-motion workers at the deli counter. Sometimes they seem half asleep. I try to avoid the deli here in Lake City, though it was always a stop when I lived in Jacksonville. I just don't have time to wait that long. In spite of the store's efforts to restock, often items I need are out of stock. It's like hurricane season here at the Lake City Publix year around. There are always bare spots on shelves. This store is simply serving too many people all on its own. LAKE CITY NEEDS ANOTHER PUBLIX. Checking out can be stressful because the check-out lines cross a main passage way and people have to get creative figuring out how to position their cart while standing in line to avoid blocking other shoppers passing by. Typically less than half of the checkout lanes are kept open; I don't think I've ever seen more than half of them open. I read another review here that suggested this Publix will stop carrying a particular item if it is popular, to avoid having to restock it so often. If that is true, it would explain a lot. I have noticed a few items have been out of stock for months and have begun to suspect they will never return. Perhaps they were too popular and required restocking too often, and thus this Publix stopped carrying, it, as the other reviewer suggested. Prices at Publix have risen significantly the past 18 months. Some will excuse the drastic price increases due to the economy; but that doesn't explain why they are significantly more expensive than Harvey's, a small grocery mart a few miles down the same road, for the exact same items. Specifically, I've noticed BOGO items are often priced higher than the regular price at other stores like Harvey's or Wal Mart. Even more of an insult: items that used to be BOGO on occasion are now only BTGO (buy TWO get one free). Lastly, the store is old and doesn't look as nice as Publix stores I've used in other cities. It does the job -- barely. I'm sad Publix doesn't think Lake City shoppers deserve better. read more

Waited in line to pay for ONE item at customer service. The person in front of me took a long time and even walked back to the store and came back, the attendant didn't even acknowledge this. Finally when it was my turn, as I walked up, a lady that wasn't in line came up and started asking him questions, he totally ignored me and began getting into a lengthy conversation while I stood there. I finally walked out. I rarely shop at publix anymore unless I can't find what I'm looking for anywhere else. Here are a few reasons for the 2 stars #1. Flies! This place is infested with flies! The other day at the bakery there was at least 5 flies sitting on the doughnut boxes and then I look over 10 feet away behind the bakery counter and you see all the loaves of bread etc. sitting out in the open cooling. You know the flies are probably buzzing from the raw meat depo to the deli then to the bakery! Some times the flies are stuck in the doughnut case too! I'm not sure if Health departments visit grocery stores like they do restaurants but they really need to visit this Publix! #2. I went to get a sub at the deli (I love Publix subs) and was in awe at the lettuce the lady was putting on my sub- it was completely brown/rotting looking! #3. I'm convinced as soon as a certain item gets popular they purposely stop carrying it so they don't have to keep re stocking it. It's Publix. I don't think I need to say much more. I'm from FL and I love Publix. I love shopping their weekly, bi-weekly and monthly ads. I use the digital and print coupons. They make it so easy to save the most money and not miss anything. On the desktop site (hence not the app or mobile site) there's a savings tab. There they pair up every manufacturer and digital coupon to their ad (yup!) and they tell you where to get the coupons, like the manufacturers website or the Sunday paper etc. Then what Publix print or digital coupons match the current ad. So so so easy. As far as this location it's beautiful. Nice, new and clean. I love that there's a pharmacy on site. And I have to hand it to this crew, I'm always in there at closing, running late, rushing around and they're totally cool. I've never been given an attitude or anything other than a great Publix attitude. read more

I only come here for specific things like ground meat or deli meat and some other items in the produce section. I have had employees make snarky comments to me on 3 different occasions. And some are just not friendly, maybe they're having a bad day but seems rude not to smile at least when someone smiles at you! So some of my experiences have not been "where shopping is a pleasure" 1st comment was a (female) cashier having an attitude with me about the due date of my baby.(ridiculous) 2nd comment was another cashier (male) saying that I had no control over my toddler because he was touching the handicapped assistance thing that pulls out in the check out lane and moving around. I was so appalled by what he was saying I just stood there staring at him not even able to respond just thinking wow is this really happening?!(I don't think my child is perfect either, kids are work & super busy, I was just shocked someone was actually criticizing my parenting when they don't even know me at all) 3rd comment was one of the younger guys in produce starting to put things away(it was 9:50 pm, they close at 10:00) he said "wow you're cutting it close aren't you?!" I just replied politely with a "yes I guess so" then panicked and tried to really hurry, when I was already planing to be done before closing anyways. I was getting a few things. Truth is I didn't have a way to get to town until night time and needed a few things before Monday. Some people can't get groceries until night time, so I couldn't understand why he was being that way. I have interacted with some nice and friendly employees also! Love to shop there. Spouse is handicap and never have to ask to be helped to the car, this means a lot to us. The store needs to be larger crowded and cramped when busy. Parking is slim at times also when busy which is most of the time. Store has many items not found at other stores, and rarely is out of stock of items. Publix in Lake City has the friendliest and most helpful employees. Doesn't matter what aisle your in, if there is an employee around, they ask if you need help finding something. The deli staff are efficient and patient, the bakery is staff are also quick to respond if they see someone approach. The Pharmacy staff are so knowledgeable and can often suggest an over the counter solution to a non emergency problem. I highly recommend shopping at this Publix. read more

I'm not very fond of this Publix in Lake City. I'm use to shopping at a Publix where shopping is a pleasure and the employees are excellent. Most Publix has a wonderful atmosphere - here I leave feeling stressed and drained. I'm sure the fact that this is the only Publix in Lake City plays a part in this mediocre store. Most employees remind me of Wal-Mart's employees - they act like they don't want to be there and also block the isles like Wal-Mart employees do. I love Publix! The staff is always so helpful. Onetime when my baby was still a baby I wearing her in her wrap. She spit up all over me. The staff helped me by taking my buggy and putting in cold storage and helped get a few items on my list while I went to clean up. They just made my daughters unicorn birthday cake. This is the only Publix in town. Constantly low or completely out of items. I have discussed this with several of the managers and nothing has changed. It doesn't matter what day of the week or time of day it is, they are always out of products. Very frustrating since it's the only Publix in town. Can't wait for the Alachua Publix to open. This is the worst Publix to shop at if you really need groceries. Last time I was in, I took pics of the empty shelves and forwarding to corporate. Poor management.
