Not the Dudleys it used to be. I have shopped at this…read morelocation for many decades. The staff used to be wonderful. I went in yesterday with my partner to get some keys cut. While discussing with my partner how many keys we needed. a very rude skinny man with a baseball cap on basically told me to shut up as "he" could only talk with one person at a time. I had to bite my tongue as I wanted to call him out on his rudeness. He took the keys and seemed to be having a hard time creating duplicates for us. Finally he gave us our keys, we paid and left. On getting home, four of the six keys were not cut properly and did not work in their locks. I called the store and guess who answered? Yep, this rude individual who now started interrupting me; Not letting me speak. "Just bring them back. I don't need to hear what your saying. I might not be here anyway". Needless to say I will not be returning to this store ever again.

I have found my new "go to" hardware store. Full mark, full stop…read more They are super friendly and helpful here. The prices are reasonable and the selection is good. Recently, I was in Canadian Tired and was appalled by the lack of customer service and aggressive behaviour of staff over leaving my bags at the door. So "no thank you" to corporate hardware services, hello local retailers! This was a tiny place packed with all sorts of items. The staff was interested in helping me find a solution to my problem I was seeking to repair. I watched as they had a rapport with other local businesses and took careful time to discuss how to handle a 'rodent problem' with a neighbour. You only build that kind of trust and rapport by treating people kindly and with care. Discussing the various options including poison was an overheard conversation, but it was telling to me. Customer service is the bread and butter of the retail industry and a good measure of the trustfulness that one can have with a business owner who is attentive and caring. I'm definitely coming back with my business to this store, even though the corporate hardware option is closer.
