After spending many days in Mexico City-eating tacos and tortas and various Mexican delightful entrees,I just felt like having a burger-so I jumped on Yelp and found the best spot in Roma Norte and stumbled upon Butcher & Sons. This restaurant was just a short walk from my hotel in Roma Norte-along the walk I think I counted 4 or 5 Michelin rated restaurants on my path-they are everywhere in Mexico City. When we arrived at the restaurant they seated us right away and I noticed how great the atmosphere was in the restaurant-this was for sure a date night or celebratory type of place-I wouldn't say fancy or upscale but definitely a step up from my restaurants I went to so far in Mexico City. Upon sitting down we started with a couple of really pretty cocktails-. Strawberry Fields-A gin drink that is a refreshing twist on a Negroni-I enjoyed it very much and may have been the best cocktail I had in Mexico City.($185.00) Margarita De Perlas-a tequila drink with lime and orange infusion topped with pearls of tapioca-It was a great spin on a margarita with the added slightly sweet taste of tapioca pearls-decent drink.($220.00) For dinner we ordered a few items. Bowie Burger-a burger featuring a top sirloin and wagyu cross patty topped with Swiss cheese,roasted poblanos,bacon,guacamole and tortilla chips-This burger was so delicious-perfectly cooked and seasoned,so juicy-it was spicy but incredibly flavorful -loved it.($275.00) Curly Fries-Perfectly seasoned,super crunchy-very tasty ($85.00) Caesar Salad-well made salad with great tasting dressing and crunchy croutons.($130.00) This place is a very special restaurant in a city that is filled with special restaurants-I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico City,specifically the Roma Norte neighborhood-a true joy. read more

Even though I was in CDMX, I was still craving a burger and I heard that butcher and sons had the best burgers in the city. After trying them out, they were pretty darn solid. The burger itself was good, not the best burger I've ever had, but good. The meat was juicy and the guac with everything else on it was unique. The fries were actually super good though. One of my go to stops every time I visit CDMX. Their burgers are absolute delicious (try the foie gras burger), their starters and salads are solid and the service is always great. I've heard good things about Butcher and Sons and the Yelp reviews are pretty good too, so I gave it a try. We arrived a little after 7 pm on a Saturday. It was lively but not so crowded we didn't get to sit down immediately. Drinks menu is huge. Lots of beer, wine, milkshakes (traditional and spiked) and an entire menu devoted to fun and tonics. Well, I love gin and tonics so I figured I had to try one since it seems to be a speciality. I got the Royale, with lemon, cinnamon and sparkling wine. It tasted like a traditional gin and tonic - good, but I didn't taste any sign of cinnamon or sparkling wine. I did, however, see lots of broken cinnamon socks floating in my drink. A little hard to deal with. Next time, I'll get a glass of wine or a beer. As for food, we went right for the burgers, since it seems like that is what they do best. We split a Zappa (with foie gras) and the one with BBQ sauce, cheddar and carmelized onions. Both were quite good. Good buns, I'd just like to see them roasted a bit more. Definitely the best burger I've had in mexico, but far from the best burger I've ever had. Still, I'd go back next time I want a burger. If you can pass on fries, order the onion rings! Really good. Butcher and Sons is a no nonsense burger place. It's pretty much all they do, and they do it well. There are plenty of burger variations and toppings (for vegetarians too!). You also have the option of building your own burger by selecting your favorite toppings. If you're feeling "spendy" they have wagyu ground beef, which I had and loved every bite. The one miss was the bun, which is a but soft and falls apart. It was still a tasty bun, but just wish they would make more of an effort on this important factor in your burger enjoyment. They may also want to consider toasting the bun. Nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle at all price points. read more

We were seeking something informal and easy - this was close to our Airbnb. I ordered the lamb burger with avo and he ordered the normal burger with avo and egg. We liked the ambience and service. Thought the burger was excellent - well-cooked, well-balanced in flavor. Loved the bun and the quality of the meat. Don't get the salad - it was VERY sweet and came with candied walnuts and cranberries. Not worth it! Small annoyances: the door was left open half the time so the restaurant became quite cold. Also, the fire alarm needed a battery change and kept beeping LOUDLY over our head, which was seriously annoying. We changed seats and I heard it less. When I let the server know, he acknowledged the beeping but didn't change the battery which I thought was odd. Ordered the original burger with side of avocado and chiles toreados Very tasty burger. Although the bread fell apart very easily. Great surprise about the chiles toreados which are not in the menu. No draft beers. Just bottles. Although they have a good selection of craft regional beers. Fries were pretty tasteless. Service was just ok. Nothing great. Wow! I loved this place. They make their own special sauces in house. I tried one with honey and tequila and it was soo good. The burger was cooked to perfection, juicy, and the guacamole was great too. Wish I had discovered it sooner so I could come back again. We sat outside and it was very comfortable. A top-ten burger all-time. Sounds crazy, but after six days of eating nothing but pure Mexican food we had a hankering for a burger and wow was this delicious. The meat is juicy and tender but VERY high-quality, and the black sesame-studded soft bun was amazing. It nearly melted into the burger but was still strong enough to support the toppings without falling apart. And the four homemade sauces/ketchups? Surprise! You can get a really good burger in Mexico City! My wife and I are visiting from America and are staying in the neighborhood. We wandered the streets for about an hour and kept striking out as apparently it was a national holiday and many places were closing early. Excellent quality of burgers with kitchen made patties and buns very well done. Note that they'll give you four different sauces that'll all look the same (ours didn't have any labels on them).
