I have been attempting to keep my drain clog free for years now without really knowing what the pipe looked like. Now knowing the amount of roots I was up against (which my $75/4hr rented machine didn't even touch a week before), it was a no-brainer to let him use his expertise and clean the drain out while he was here. The machine he used was tailor-made for clearing roots out of pipes like this, it is way different than what I had been using and I got to watch it in action as he kept his camera scope just behind the business end of that root shredding monster.
