I ordered the "free" caterpillars on 4/15. On 4/25 they took the funds out of my paypal account stating that they had shipped. My kids and I waited each and every day after that for caterpillars to arrive. I sent several emails and never gt a response. I wish I had seen the reviews before I got my kids hopes up. We can no longer order more caterpillars because it too hot now. I really feel this was a scam! Too good to be true!! read more

Like the others posting here, I am a second grade teacher who fell for this company's ad offering free caterpillars, but for an EXORBITANT shipping and handling fee. I ordered four kits on April 30 with a projected arrival date of May 13-17. When they failed to arrive, I emailed her on May 21--no reply. I then opened a dispute with PayPal and received an email that they'd shipped on May 23. I received them yesterday, on May 28, and one container was completely empty. It was obvious there never had been caterpillars in it--the food disk was intact, completely untouched. I then emailed her again to ask if she'd rather send me another kit or refund the $7,99. Again there was no reply, but I received an email this morning from PayPal informing me that SHE wanted to escalate the dispute into a claim. UNBELIEVABLE. I wish there was some better way of letting more people know about this fraud, especially since it is being perpetrated on school teachers and school children. I ordered monarch eggs which were supposed to be received the following Monday. I waited and finally received the package on Friday with 2 bags, 1 of which was torn open, and no instructions. I tried the email but email not set up. I've tried everything, but no luck. I'm going to try someone else and I would anyone else to do the same. read more

Like many of the others, I paid for my butterfly caterpillars through PayPal and I never received them. I sent Suzanne, the butterfly lady, MULTIPLE emails inquiring about them. Finally when it was too late in the season, I asked for a refund because at that point if I got them it would be too cold to release butterflies in my area. Not once did I receive a response. I finally contacted PayPal so they could deal with the issue. At that point I had just passed the 180 day complaint period so they could not do anything either. So, I didn't receive any caterpillars and I am out $15. I will NEVER order from this company again. read more

I had a very similar experience to the other reviewer. I am a kindergarten teacher and I ordered the butterfly larva at the end of April. The website said they were to ship the week of May 6th. Here it is, over one month later and I haven't received anything. School is out tomorrow and no one will be here to deliver them to even if they do arrive. Just emailed to try to get a refund. I would recommend paying a little more and going with someone else. My students are super disappointed, too. read more

DITTO on the previous review. Order placed on May 6 with delivery stated for May 20-24. Waited a week or so and emailed, no response, emailed again few days later, no response, placed a phone call and it went to voice mail so I left a message...no response!! Filed a dispute/refund request with PayPal and while waiting for resolution the order arrived over 3 weeks late and I was out of town so the poor little creatures sat on my porch in the sun and did not survive. Even if they had, since I received the order so late the kids would have missed the 'birth' since I'll be closed and on vacation. Poor, poor customer service and will never order from her again!! I have yet to receive my order of "free" caterpillars. I have attempted contact via email and phone (phone numer has since been removed from site). I have not received any response or caterpillars. It has been 10 weeks since I ordered. I have contacted the BBB. You should too if you have been scammed. Yes it's only $10 dollars. But if hundreds of people have been scammed think of all the money this con artist has stolen!! Not alone the children that were excited about receiving butterflies! I should have gone with Insect Lore. More expensive but have received caterpillars in a timely professional manner in the past. Spread the word Butterly Lady is a SCAM!!!! read more

I am a first grade teacher. Every year I order live caterpillars for my classroom. This year I was sent an email to receive "free" caterpillars for the cost of shipping. I ordered over $30 worth of caterpillars. The web site said I could pick my date of arrival so I picked my date range and paid through PayPal. The date I was to receive my caterpillars came and went with no contact from the butterfly-lady. I wrote an email asking when might I receive my order - no reply. I called the phone number - no longer in use. I called PayPal and they had already released the funds. I again emailed and asked for my money back. I thought I was not going to ever receive the caterpillars. So my first graders would not be disappointed, I quickly spent another $30 and order caterpillars through Carolina Biological - wonderful company, got my healthy caterpillars when expected. Then, suddenly, I get an email saying that my first order had shipped. I received caterpillars - mainly dead, many on death's door. IT was a TOTAL waste of $30.
