This place was an absolute knockout. Can't beat the prices or the portions, and what you're getting is cooked well and tastes delicious. I got the brisket plate with the mac and cheese and beans. The waitstaff was quick and friendly, it seemed pretty clean, and there were a lot of good options on the menu. The brisket came out as two hulking slabs, and it wasn't dry. The outer edges were crispy and the meat was tender. The mac and cheese was out of this world and the beans were dang good too. I almost had to ask the waitress to take me to my car in a wheelbarrow. Whenever I come back to Chester, I will 100% be coming here to fill up. Only thing they're missing is some different hot sauces for the mac and cheese! read more

This place is amazing from their main dishes to their sides. Steak, Pork Chops, Chicken Tenders, Wings, Fries, Baked Potato, Fried Okra, Mac and Cheese and much more are amazing! Well let me just start by saying this food is to expensive for what you get. I've included a picture of the BBQ pulled port plate, looks more like the sandwich to me. When the girl sat the plate in front of me, I told her I had the plate not the sandwich. She let me know with an attitude that was the plate!! This pathetic portion and a drink was almost $19!! Great staff! Lunch specials are not posted on their website, but are reasonably priced. My friend and I are addicted to the pulled pork quesadilla and always have at least half to bring home to our husbands! LOL My husband and I have gone for dinner a few times and always start with their fried mushrooms and onion rings. My favorite for dinner is the smoked chicken plate, which comes with two sides (usually the slaw and fried okra for me). Husband usually gets the prime rib with fries. The brownie sundae is huge and delicious. Any of the desserts I've had are great. My only wish is that they were open 7 days a week! read more

You've been warned!! Food was mediocre at best. Barely warm. Waitress was slow getting back to us so thought I would be nice and give her credit card before seeing the bill. When she brought the receipt for me to sign it didn't include the actual bill? The slip looked quite expensive compared to what we ordered so I asked to see the actual breakdown. When she brought it she explained another waitress had rung it up and messed up our bill. Ok benefit of the doubt sure no problem. Then she asked did I want her to correct the overcharge!! We'll yes you overcharged me $6.00 plus $1.00 for glass of tap water plus a $1.50 misc fee!!! But I still left a 20% tip again giving benefit of the doubt. WOW!! It's a shame when you feel totally take advantage of to the point that I'll take the time to write a review. In summary mediocre food with questionable behavior of the staff. read more

Buttermilk's BBQ catered food for my family after my grandmother's funeral. They provided pulled pork with two types of BBQ sauce, baked beans, potato salad, rolls, cole slaw, and brownies. Every item was delicious, well cooked and nicely seasoned. Thank you Buttermilk's for providing some comfort after a difficult event. I've eaten at several of the restaurants in Chester and I would rate Buttermilk's as one of the best. read more

Met family halfway in Chester and Dad picked this place. The food was out of this world. I can't even explain how good it was. Don't miss the brisket or collard greens. Sweet tea was perfect too. No indoor seating. It's all carry out and they have some picnic tables outside. If we're ever back in Chester, we'll definitely be eating here. A few notes: They are renovating a side building to expand. Parking was a bit tight on Buttermilk's side. I had to park around the way at another restaurant. I didn't see any restrooms, but I didn't ask. They had to get cups out of a storage building to go with my gallon of tea. I didn't see any extra napkins other than the ones in the plastic wrapped silverware package. It's helpful to have extra with a BBQ dinner. So they have a few kinks to work out, but the food makes it worth any slight hiccups. read more

My wife and I were camping at Chester State Park and found Buttermilk's BBQ in Chester,it is very good food.I got the brisket plate with mac&cheese & potato salad.The brisket was tender with the right amount of smoke and both sides worthy of a place on the plate.Beth tried the pulled pork with fried cabbage & mashed potatoes with the same results.
