However, with my travel and my husband's travel, we decided to not renew. Based on the contract we signed and the discussion with the business manager, Beth, who told us we had to wait a year, to either switch our membership or cancel, we waited 11 months to notify them. We knew 4 months prior to a year that we weren't renewing. Upon trying to cancel, they bring up some by-laws that we have never seen that says we are liable for another full year because our membership was automatically renewed. We joined in December and were told we had to wait a year before we could change our membership. Now according to Beth, we didn't notify them prior to Oct. 1 so we are stuck liable for another full year membership that we haven't been using since we joined. I let them know beginning of October we weren't renewing but it was too late according to them. They will take a lien out on us if they need to and we must pay over 3,000 to settle it even though I let them know before our year was up. It is a scam. It is fine print at it's best. Clubs are struggling to make a profit so they are holding us to this by-law that we have never seen. The contract said nothing of it or the membership year dates or cancellation. We were never told to read the by-laws either. I am beyond irritated. I would recommend if you are considering joining you read EVERYTHING in their by-laws because it is scary what they claim they can do to someone for improper conduct, late payments, etc.

Frances…read moreLangford was a popular singer, radio performer, and actress in the 1930's through the 1950's. She was also a boater and fisherwoman. Langford's first singing performance was staged in Lakeland. The classically-trained opera singer had a tonsillectomy in her teens, and she retrained her vocal style to the big band type of music that was popular at the time. Langford was discovered by Rudy Vallee while performing on a Tampa radio station. She worked on the radio with Vallee, Dick Powell, and Bob Hope. Her first film was Every Night at Eight (1935) which featured her singing I'm in the Mood for Love. Her other films included Yankee Doodle Dandy and The Glenn Miller Story. During WWII Frances Langford worked with the USO and traveled through North Africa and the South Pacific to visit injured GI's. She became known as the GI Nightingale. Her weekly newspaper column, "Purple Heart Diary," told of those visits and urged public support for injured soldiers. Of her time visiting the troops Langford said ""The greatest thing in my life was entertaining the troops." Langford's war-related papers can be found at the Institute on World War II at Florida State University. In 1955 she moved to Jensen Beach with her second husband Ralph Evinrude to live out her dream, Frances Langford's Outrigger Resort, where she had cottages, a restaurant, and a marina. In 1948, Frances donated 20 acres of her estate for the creation of this park. Lanford Park is located just south of the historic Stuart Welcome Arch. The park is home to the Vince Bocchino Community Center that has a kitchen and meeting space. It can be rented for private events like shower and weddings, and hosts programs that include summer camp and the Jensen After School Experience. There is also the Log Cabin Senior Center that hosts many senior programs and activities like light exercise and art classes. Other park amenities include restrooms, a playground currently closed for remodeling, four baseball diamonds, a concession stand, two basketball courts, four tennis courts, four racquetball courts, two sand volleyball courts, eleven picnic pavilions, and the newest addition, four pickleball courts. Connected to the park by a sidewalk path through the ball fields is the Pat Mark Rio-Jensen Skate Park. I enjoyed walking the park for exercise. This well maintained recreational facility brings the community of Jensen Beach together. It is a great place for play, exercise, sports, picnics, or just hanging outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

This park is very dog friendly nearly everyone I encountered during my walk had at least 1 dog, all on leases. This is a very friendly park, nearly everyone I passed by had a friendly greeting. When I was there, I saw several sports teams practicing, as well as what appeared to be a CrossFit group working out. I went specifically for the walking trails, I had high expectations, they fell a little short. I expected more and longer trails. There were a lot of signs on the paths but most were very faded and you could barely read them. This park is great for families. If you live in the area and have children, I bet they are practices and games are held at this park.

You have pretty much everything you can think of in this park with a very large parking lot. If your kid loves baseball, there's always baseball games going on and there's also a playground for kids to enjoy. I haven't really explored the whole park on foot, only driven by since the skating area is all the way in the back. It's pretty new. I heard they just filled it in. I would say it's like the size of a normal skating area you would find at an indoor rink. I will come more often, but it is a 20 minute drive and they're doing a lot of construction on the roads that I take together.
