OMG Yesterday was my 1st session with Creg and man was it good. I participated in Creg's small group (night session). It was just me and another lady. I felt he paid attention to my form and gave me modifications to accommodate my lower back problem. I live a mile from the gym, so I walked there. I was so beat (in a great way) I was not sure if I was going to be able to walk back home. I took potassium (my brother's recommendation) and 8 oz of coconut water (also a good source of potassium) and I am not very sore today. I fell asleep by 9:00 and slept like a baby until 7:00 am. What a great find Creg and his gym are!!! I want to keep him as a secret, but that would not be right. *one reviewer mentioned that he was on his cell. I unfortunately had a poor experience using LevelUp as my personal trainer. The relationship started off well enough; based on all the 5 star reviews i expected a great training experience. Although the start was a little disorganized (I was quoted a different price for what I wanted and then paid a higher price later on), the app to log diet and workouts as well as communicate was cool. He offered two training sessions to make up for the confusion. Here's where it goes a bit south: Workouts: The workout is pretty straightforward, and you're given cardio guidelines for non training days. That was ok, but the trainer at my office gym can provide similar material, for free. Meal Plan: I was severely disappointed by this. It's a very simple meal plan for one day, and you are meant to eat that with some variation for a month. That's not worth my money and certainly not what will keep me motivated. I specifically stated I needed variety and I never got that. Nor do I think a nutritionist reviewed it, as I was told would happen since they were bringing someone on board when i signed up (not sure this ever happened). I was told this makes it easier - but for whom? I know what doesn't work for me and eating the same thing is my first step to failure. Personal Training Sessions: Briefly on the one session I had - it lasted maybe 30 min? Seemed created on the fly. He forgot about my session so I have full reason to believe that. Communication: I got maybe a message a week, if that, and if I didn't log I wasn't being pushed to do the program, nor did we have great conversations around what was holding me back. I could have gotten the same level of communication and encourage from a friend for free. When we tried to restart for 2018, he offered a free month, but then tacked on the expectation that I would pay for a month THEN get a free month. I passed, obviously. There's no way I'd pay someone to fix a service they are providing me. He's a decent person, but the service provided is overrated and overpriced. And I could have saved a few hundred dollars if I just did it on my own; so best believe I'm paying myself to get fit in 2018. read more

I've been training with Cregory for about 2 months now, and could not be happier. I signed up for the 30 minute training sessions, and think they are a great deal, and a good option for people busy with full-time jobs (I come twice a week). Cregory has a good sense of how much to push, so i leave workouts sore, but not dead. He also listens to my desires and adjusts workouts accordingly (for example, my legs build muscle quickly and I don't want to look like the hulk, so he works with me to develop lean muscle that won't bulk ). The workout space is small and personal - usually we are the only ones there - but big enough to do weights, plyometrics, and cardio. Cregory himself is great: laid back, flexible, knowledgeable and patient. No two workouts are ever the same. I'm already starting to dee changes in my body, and I look forward to every workout! read more

Inspirational trainer who encourages you to push yourself. Extremely knowledgeable - workouts are fun and effective. Creg generally merges strength training with cardiovascular exercise to maximize your results. Each workout is varied and challenging, but doable. I really love the private gym experience you get at Level Up. I don't have to worry about what I wear and I'm not distracted by people trying to look cool. I used to work out with Creg in person and now we're doing it virtually, and it's still great. I don't have a ton of equipment (he's recommended a few low-cost additions but been flexible around what I do have) and he still gives me a great workout every time. My husband and I started working out with Cregory a few months ago after realizing that we needed some major motivation to get back in shape. There's no gym close by in Petworth so when we passed by LevelUp, I looked him up on Yelp and saw great reviews. He was really responsive in setting up a consultation shortly after I emailed him. Now we work out with him 2x per week. We both started seeing results shortly after we began working out with Cregory: in general, we feel stronger, leaner and healthier. Cregory does a good job of training both of us at the same time. He changes up the routine regularly and fits in a full body workout in 45 minutes. Its nice that he's able to vary the exercises that my husband and I do. Sometimes we do the same exercise and sometimes its totally different. Though I wish Cregory had a better method of keeping track of his scheduling, the flip side is that he is always super understanding if we have to cancel at the last minute and doesn't penalize us for it. He plays great music that always puts me in the mood to move and he's a really nice and funny guy. We genuinely enjoy spending 45 minutes with him twice a week. Though personal training is not cheap, I think his rates are more than fair- especially considering that he is training both of us at once. I would have no qualms in recommending Cregory to anyone looking to make a big change to their current fitness regime (or lack of one at all, like in my case). read more

Started training with Reggie about a month ago and I am so glad I did! I've had a couple trainers in the past, but hands down Reggie ranks at the top of the list. He pushes me when I need to be pushed and he's always reassuring when I need it. His energy is super positive and fun so each workout is exciting and intense. I have never been an athlete so this is unfamiliar territory for the most part. But with Reggie's help, I'm becoming the best version of me and gaining strength and confidence I never knew I had! Let me tell you exactly what you are in for with Cregory, who is currently the owner and sole trainer at Level Up. (1) His focus is on his smartphone for most of the personal training sessions; (2) He does not count the reps, and if he does, he is often off the count; (3) He tries to skimp on the time allotted for the session, and I have consistently needed to push back in order to get the whole scheduled time I have paid for; (4) As part of his focus being on his smartphone, he is often checking how many sessions are left, and when he will be receiving the next check from you and for how much; (5) Trainer-client conversations are often focused on what Cregory has in mind this week for improving his clientele base; (6) Cregory is not enthusiastic about scheduling early morning sessions; and (7) Cregory does not have the upbeat, motivational spark to encourage others to do their best. What brought our trainer-trainee relationship to an end was a bounced check. What I would have expected was an understanding that it was a mistake on my part, and some encouragement to resolve the outstanding balance and get back on track. Instead of focusing on continuing the training relationship, Cregory was focused on the nitty-gritty of the fines and fees. I was so disappointed that he cared more about the bounced check fee than finding a way to continue to work together that I have walked away from $500 worth of personal training sessions due me. I understand from other reviews that Cregory works for some people. However, I caution you to set up trial sessions and not to sign a contract on the first visit. You may find a better fit with him than I do; it's best to shop around before committing. read more

Cregory is great and I'm thrilled with my time working out at Level Up. For starters, I'm a non athlete and super uncoordinated. Admittedly, I feel a little self-conscious in big gyms and trendy group fittness classes. I came to Cregory looking for a welcoming, non-judgemental environment to get in shape and feel healthier. Cregory said that a 30 minute session three times a week would be enough to get me toned, lean and strong. At first, I was pretty skeptical that I would see results with such little time working out, but after two months at Level Up I'm the strongest I've ever been and people around me have noticed! Honestly, there is no way I would get these results on my own by going to the gym for 30 minutes, three times a week. I've been working with Cregory for about 2 months now, and am so happy that I have been. I started working with him to strengthen my back to reduce pain from injuries. He has helped me slowly build my strength without re-injury. I have almost no pain days, now. Cregory is always positive - he is always encouraging me to try new things, and he is always, literally always, pointing out my progress - newly defined back muscles, dropping inches, loose clothes, and higher endurance. I started training with Cregory almost 3 months ago - trying to lose the weight from baby #2. So far it's been great - he mixes things up with weight training and plymoterics. Before I started training with Cregory Boatwright of LevelUp Personal Training I was nervous about training and hesitant to work out in public. Once I met with the LevelUp trainer and started training regularly, I realized my fears were unfounded. The LevelUp trainer I work with is kind and supportive (not the stereotypical mean trainer I had built up a fear of in my head). My trainer has taken the time to get to know me, understand my fitness goals and limitations, and works with me to help push me closer to my fitness goals. Cregory finds a way to push me (athletic in mindset but not always in the best shape) without making me feel exhausted.
