So friendly and helpful from the beginning. We decided to share the Gyro platter with hummus and rice pilaf and my husband wanted to get the Greek salad. They do bring warm pitas with olive oil to every table. I also tried the Pomegranate martini which was delicious. The Gyro platter was large and full of the delicious meat. My husband was in Heaven with his Greek salad. He usually goes with whatever I choose, but this is was his jam! He thoroughly enjoyed every bite. We dine here every so often and it is a mediocre restaurant in my opinion but there is one dish my friend likes a lot so we went. AND on this last visit , we felt like Mediterranean food and our favorite, 1000 FIGS, was closed. We were there on a Sunday and the waiter showed a wine list to us and it was from that list which he gave to us and from which we pointed out wines and asked questions about taste, that we ordered a bottle of wine. Neither my friend nor I can figure out why he even showed it to us which he did several times and we both did NOT notice that the list only was for Wednesdays. The waited never brought the discrepancy up to us AND NEVER SHOWED US THE REGULAR WINE LIST. After paying , my friend noticed that there was a problem and showed me the bill which we thought was a mistake. The wine was 2x , twice, the cost we relied from the wine menu that WE WERE GIVEN! When we brought it to their attention, it was ONLY THEN that the waiter pointed to the WEDNESday notice on the wine menu. They stated that we should have noticed the WEDNESDAY menu. WE asked WHY WERE WE even shown that misleading menu! BYBLOS refused to honor the wine menu that was put in our hands at the table instead of the wine menu that had the price that they charged us. I am so sorry that we did not notice the scam as we term it, because they would never have gotten the 20 tip!!! WE WILL NEVER RETURN!! What a terrible experience. read more

I've been eating at Byblos for decades and always enjoyed their great middle eastern food. Usually I prefer to eat at Byblos Market which is their combo of a Middle Eastern market that also offers hot food where you can get a lot of the food offered in this restaurant for a bit of a cheaper price. They do have many items on the menu here at Byblos restaurant which they don't typically offer at the Byblos Market though so you do get VERY different experiences at each spot. Absolutely love this spot for Mediterranean cuisine. It's right off of Metairie Road next to the bank with plenty of parking. I'm a sucker for their spanakopitas, fried halloumi cheese with garlic spread and tomato, the Pine Nut Salad with salmon and Chicken Shawarma. The service is great, very polite, although they can get backed up during peek hours. The dining room has been fairly average in terms of noise level, maybe even on the quieter side during lunch. Restaurant was fairly empty on a Friday afternoon, but that didn't bother me. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. We ordered a few appetizers to get started. The falafel balls were dry. Like- thankfully we had water because we had to drink half a glass to get it down. No exaggeration. We ordered Brussel sprouts with a garlic cream sauce. It was more of a garlic mayonnaise sauce. Way too thick and not what we expected. We were going to order more, but we decided to give up. I wanted to try this Byblos location because the menu is more extensive than the location closest to me. Upon entering, we were told to sit wherever we'd like (which was nice). Service pretty good but the overall environment was dull. Also, the dishes looked dingy and my veggies were in a cracked bowl. We started with the stuff grapes leaves and they were pretty good! I had the redfish entree (bland). The veggies were good, but I didn't feel comfortable eating anything that was placed on the cracked portion of the dish. I mainly go to the Byblos in the Lakeside mall, but my friends wanted to have dinner here a couple of months ago. At Lakeside, I usually get the Schwammer with hummus, pita bread and greek salad. Here I had the hummus and the medditerranean pasta. I have to sadly admit, the hummus was not as good as it usually is, or at least as good as it was at Lakeside mall. And the shrimp had little flavor, I was expecting it to be garlicky and good. The pasta itself was not easy to eat since they were thick, long noodles and non bite sized veggies that all needed to be sliced and since it was all in a bowl, the bowl would nearly tip over when I would cut the pasta or veggies so I could cut them small enough to eat. It almost needed to be served in a plate or served with smaller veggies, at least. Now the good news. The service is great. Our waitress was funny and kept our drinks filled. Lots of ample parking. They have specials on Wednesday nights for wine too. It is a decent size too, so may be good for groups as well. I think I may just stick to the Lakeside mall location for now on. read more

My friend and I ate at Byblos Elmwood on Monday, June 9 as part of restaurant week "new Orleans" 2025. This restaurant offered a dinner meal for $32 which included choice of beverage (non alcoholic), a starter entree and baklava for desert. The service was impeccable (ask for Heather) and the food was delicious. Portion size (entree) was enough for two meals. Baklava was delicious. Everything was. My friend ordered the salmon plate and I ordered the kabobs. We had two side dishes with our entree. We will definitely return to support Byblos Elmwood. Even the decor of the restaurant is inviting. This place is delicious. Caters to large parties as well as small. The food was fresh and portrayed an authentic taste. The service was good. The server was attentive and engaged in conversation when appropriate. Entrance/hostess I was waiting quite a bit up front as several employees passed me by and didn't give a greeting. The bar was near by and still no one greeted me. I was on the verge of walking out h til someone finally greeted me and basically said "hi, feel free to sit wherever you like." Appetizers: We ordered the Labneh dip. It was delicious and came fast, it included pita bread. The bread wasn't as warm as we would have like but it wasn't cold either. Entree: The main course came out at a decent time. We order the Gyro plate and Chicken Shawarma plate. Each plate comes with two sides of your choice. We went to Byblos for Coolinary for lunch. It was only $15 for lunch which was a great price but the courses were very small which I guess explained the price. I started with the halloumi and it wasn't bad, but it was a little bland. The next course I had the fattoush salad which both my friend and I were annoyed there wasn't much toasted pita bread in it. The final course I had the chicken shawarma wrap which was probably by favorite course. The service was very quick but brusque. They were very busy so I don't blame my server necessarily, though it did seem like they could offer a substitution in the main course of Coolinary since there weren't any vegetarian offerings and my friend couldn't participate. Visited here in May, 2022 and had a great lunch. I asked if they served Toum, a favorite Arabic dip and wonderful if you like garlic. They don't but the manager said they would make some specially for me, a lovely gesture. Their menu I have found to be very consistent over the years and very delicious. What I did find tastefully interesting was their Lebanese wine - see picture. Parking fills up a little so you may need to circle a couple of time in the parking lot, but if you like Lebanese food, well worth a visit. read more

Last week we picked up a dinner and of the 4 meals, 1 in particular was un-eatable, the beef shawarma. We ordered 2 servings or rack of lamb and while they were not cooked as ordered, they were ok. Tonight we ordered 1 order of the rack of lamb, asked for well done because of the undercooking last week and they were literally raw. Additionally, they were so fatty, we did not eat them even after recooking them ourselves. It is unconscionable that for the price, that all the food would not be perfect. Came here for lunch on Friday. Mom and I started with the Mediterranean hummus. Honestly, it had no flavor. The one at Zea's is way better. We got the chicken shawarma plate and split. The chicken was seasoned and hot and had a great taste. We got 2 sides the spanakopita was incredible flaky and just delicious! The baba ghanoush was tangy and we both didn't like it nor ate it. Stopped in for lunch today with a couple friends who are always craving Greek. I got the chicken shawarma wrap which is my go-to order at Greek restaurants but this one was just so much better than anything I've had before. The pita was more toasted. The chicken was even more flavorful than usual. I typically would fight anyone who said they liked another Greek place better than Albasha. But this was 100% better. It was quiet when we got there at 11 but by 11:45 every table was full and I can definitely see why. Our waitress was so nice and attentive. This is my favorite Mediterranean place in the New Orleans area. My wife and I were dining at this very restaurant when we decide to start dating one another so it definitely a special place for us. We recently went to dinner there the past Valentine's Day for a little reunion. The kabobs are our go to and we typically start off with the grape leaves. We have dined at this particular Byblos on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Although their website states that Byblos is casual, I find it to be slightly upscale as all the tables have linen tablecloths, the decor is very nice and there is a huge painted mural on the wall that lends an air of sophistication. Kudos to them for also taking reservations, as it can sometimes be quite crowded. The menu here is pretty extensive, with a large selection of appetizers and entree items. I have tried many of the menu items to include Mahi Mahi kabobs, beef kabobs, lamb kabobs, chicken kabobs and Greek salad with gyro. None of them have ever disappointed me, as the meat is always plentiful and cooked to perfection; and by perfection, I mean tender and juicy. On several of our visits here, Brady was our server. She is very knowledgeable of the menu items and will give you her personal opinion on items if asked. She has always been very attentive and makes sure we have everything we need throughout the meal. I would have to say that she is probably our go-to server, as we will likely ask to be seated in her section on our next visit. She's a little funny too, which I like. On our last visit, we brought our son, even though this may not be the most kid friendly place to eat. As my wife and son were splitting a meal, they could not decide on the side item. She recommended the fries and raved on them. We decided to try them and low and behold, they were probably the best french fries I have ever tasted. Whatever seasoning they use, it is perfect and they are cooked to perfection. Who would have thought that fries could be so good? Kudos to Byblos (or Brady) for not simply bringing an extra plate for our son, but rather, bringing out their meal already split onto 2 separate plates. Also, kudos to the "water boy" that brought out our drinks and kept our iced tea glasses full. I guarantee that he visited our table no less than 6-8 times to keep all of our drink glasses topped off. Lastly, try to leave room for dessert. The baklava is pretty darn good, but I highly recommend you try the ashta. Ashta is a Lebanese "clotted cream" dessert served in a flaky puffed pastry and is definitely big enough to serve two people. The filling is slightly flavored, and to me it has hints of rose water, orange water and possibly vanilla extract. Regardless, it is delicious without being overly sweet. If you haven't been here, I highly recommend it. read more

We've been to this restaurant many times and had wonderful meals but tonight was no their night. Possibly, I just ordered a dish that was not their best--but this was the worst Caesar salad I think I've ever had. It was completely devoid of flavor, or dressing other than a bit of oil as I could tell. Now, I'm not mad about the bad dish--every now and then every chef puts out a bad dish. What I found annoying is that I barely touched it and the waitress noticed this because after picking up all the other plates, she left mine. Then she delivered the checks. Now I didn't want it for free--but it would be nice if a server notices that someone isn't enjoying their food, he or she should ask about it, perhaps offer to bring something else, or even offer a condiment to improve the situation. We will go back to Byblos but I was just disappointed in not only the meal tonight, but also the service. read more

I enjoyed the Drunken Halloumi (be warned that there is a copious amount of minced, raw garlic in the white paste between the cheese & tomato - delicious, but you should definitely be prepared for the intense sensation that only raw garlic can give). My wife and I ate here on one our day trips to New Orleans. I was pleasantly surprised by the greeting when we arrived. The first thing I noticed was the white linen tables......fancy!! lol. We just had water to drink(no lemon), and the water boy didn't miss a beat. I think he filled my glass 8 times, guess I was thirsty. I had the lentil soup served in a cup, it was pretty darn good and highly recommend it. For my entree I had the beef kabobs with Greek Salad, the meat was very tender and nicely flavored and the portions were huge. Come to find out when we got our bill we were charged for the dinner entree price at lunch no wonder why the portions were big. The waiter then explained to us that we had a choice of the lunch or dinner portion, but we weren't given that option when we ordered. One star taken off for that!! I guess I looked hungry. We haven't eaten Byblos in years "which was pretty decent back then" and wanted to grab some chicken shawarma take out; our usual place was out of the way for us so we decided to give old Byblos a try. We were greatly disappointed with the food. The chicken was bland and very dry, the hummus was overly lemony, the falafel was good, and some of the pita bread was hard like a chip. As a matter of fact, as I was waiting for the order I saw a girl the the back opening a box of pita bread in bags! Come on man...y'all can't even make your own pita bread?! You gotta buy it?!
