I wish I could report I was here for good reason, but unfortunately I was here to say goodbye to my best friends father. The service was televised to family members on the west coast (pretty nifty!) The master of ceremonies spoke very clearly, sang to music supplied and acapella. Very impressive. Overall it was very clean, the seats had cushions, very bright interior (makes for an upbeat feeling) and impressive inside.

They organized as a church on June 27 of the following year and "admitted" fifty-three women a month later. The congregation began worshiping in their new meetinghouse near what is now 235 Main Street. The present edifice, which originally faced Main Street from the common now known as Perry Park, was completed in 1790 and dedicated August 9, 1791. The bell, the eleventh cast by patriot Paul Revere in 1795, is the oldest Revere bell in continuous service. It summons worshippers each Sunday, peals on historic occasions and, in concert with the clock installed in 1883, strikes the hour. In 1849, the building was moved to its current location and extensive renovations were made to the portico and windows. The Deacons give and incredible tour filled with history and they took us up to the steeple where we got to see the best view of the whole town and the bell on top made by Paul Revere. Wonderful service too. Great people and if you are visiting NewburyPort or anywhere near it o can tell you this tour was the highlight of our vacation!

Instead, I found a solely nearly evangelical Christian church - not inclusive of other religious faiths or philosophy. Boring sermons. Pathetic music choices of a very aged school. Compare with West Newton; Boston, Santa Cruz, CA; Monterey, CA; NYC; San Francisco. The icing on the cake is the 'steeple fund'. A steeple is an ornamental item and unnecessary. People in the congregation are in need of help (as well as broader community) yet the church supports and is soliciting funds for a useless piece of ornamentation. The church has its priorities backwards, is out of integrity. The minister's sermons daft. In a recent Gallup poll, people go to church because of the sermon first - some enlightened words. None here.

There was hardly an empty seat, all had high spirits and amazing enthusiasm. Never was a pastor more welcomed. After the vote, she was found and brought back to thunderous applause, a bouquet of flowers, and the church bell pealed out the happy news. In this coming September, come hear her. You will not be disappointed.
