I had knee replacement surgery and after the surgery my room, I didn't have a button on the bed to call for help, instead they put a doorbell on my food tray. my name was not on the door, but there was 2 men's names on the door(not my doctors names). the nurse had to come find me. staff told her no one was in that floor. so she just checked to make sure . the male nurse didn't come to my room after i fang the doorbell, so I rang it several more times, he finally came to my room and told me not to press it but only one time. I had to press several more times so he took the ringer off my door. the little black nurse came in to give me pain meds, she went in the wrong direction and blew out my vain. they left me like that for several hours. the male nurse came in a few hours later, I was in pain and my arm was swollen and purple. he called the little black nurse she was mad and came to my room and said some harsh words to me. but left me with my arm swollen and purple. I rang again cause I needed my pain meds. they said I couldn't have more because she gave me some already. I showed them my arm and said it in a bubble in my arm. they finally gave me Tylenol and put my iv in a different place and then gave me pain meds.THIS WAS THE WORST HOSPITAL IVE EVER BEEN IN!! read more

My mom was a patient of nurse practitioner Lizabeth Hattaway. She was adjusting my mom's medication and my mom had some rough patches. Anyway Hattaway sent my mom to a place called freedom behavior. They were according to what was told to my mom they would fix her medicine and keep her a few nights about 3 days. When my mom went in immediately she started being mistreated told to strip down and shower and watched while she was showering. She was in a tiny room very cold and asked for a blanket the worker did not give her one. I tried to call my mom 2 times and was told i could not speak to her and when I asked why I was hung up on twice. My aunt finally got my mom out of there and my mom said they never monitored or offered her medicine on top of that there was a male patient in there that kept grabbing her. When my mom had her next appointment with Hattaway my mom explained to her what happened. Hattaway told my mom to shut up and if she did not straighten up she would send her to the mental institution in Shreveport. That is a threat and under patient privacy act you cannot make verbal threats like that . I looked it up. Hattaway kept changing my mom's medicine and my mom went through very difficult times acting out crying etc. My mom has a new doctor now since she has stopped going to Hattaway it is been a complete 180 difference. I know that byrd had a very long and bad rap sheet. Stay away from this place go to cabrini or deridder. If i had a heart attack here in Leesville I would not care if it was more time consuming to go to Alexandria or deridder no way will I roll the dice with byrd hospital or any doctors or nurse practitioners affiliated with this place read more

I know that hospital stays are not something that, I would think about rating, but when you experience the quality of care and that I received from triage in emergency room, I was moved to ICU where I was up to time to leave. Good parking lot was full, but able to find a spot not to far away. No reception desk at the entrance we used. But we're able to use signs to find our way to maternity ward. The nursing staff were polite and helpful. The free WiFi sucks, slow, throddlers back Facebook, Instagram, photos, and games. The cafeteria has limited hours, so pick up something in town, (Bj's Diner is good). read more

You will come out either in a body bag on a stretcher with the funeral home accompanying your body or a staph infection that will take you out. I was hoping the new company would do better! This is one of the WORST Emergency Rooms in the country. I have been to the ER twice and treated POORLY each time. The ONLY thing they seem to be good at is excuses and personal conversations. My visit on Thursday, May 30th crossed the line. After waiting close to 2hours I finally saw a doc, if you want to call him that, and he barely looked at me. Told me WORD FOR WORD, "If you don't stay still I'm going to hurt you!". I left the ER in extreme pain, no diagnosis, and no idea where to turn. I am a paying customer, paying or not, no one should be treated like that. So if you are unfortunate to go to the ER and a tall slender black doctor with a distinct foreign accent. I wish I could give this er. 0 stars. I was having an active heart attack for 4 hours before they decided to move me to icu. I was in excruciating pain. On top of that there was this Caucasian dr. Who lied on my husband and got him kicked out of the hospital. and harassed by 7 police officers. The only thing my husband asked was whats going on why are they moving so slow, and that if ut was hus wife ge would be concerned too. He told the police that my husband verbally attacked him. My mother was admitted to Byrd with COPD and pneumonia, the staff in the ICU have been absolutely phenomenal. I couldn't ask for better care for my mother. The nurses, especially Suzanne and Penny are amazing. Not only do they genuinely care for the patients that come through their floor. They also supported us - the patients family. They helped us during a difficult time with grace and respect. I cannot thank them enough for their candid honesty and veritable concern. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Worst experience. I went in for COVID-19 and horrible side affects. The only nice people there was the lady who did my blood work and the receptionist lady who helped me sign my paperwork since i was too weak to write. As soon as we arrived i was weak and fragile. My boyfriend parked the car in the emergency loop to help me out of the car to rush me in. A doctor with no mask on said "what are you doing???" we were just trying to get me inside the freaking ER. As soon as i got into a room, the doctor, Mohammed, was rude and dismissed all my concerns. He looked at me like i was overreacting. Virtually blamed everything on my anxiety and that everything was "normal" for Covid. Granted, I was having trouble breathing and was freaking out. I was hyperventilating, but for a reason- I was choking on my way to the ER, of course I will be freaked out. He told me that I didn't need to go to the hospital, since this is normal for Covid. I know my body, I know that this is nothing like I've ever felt before. Prior to arriving my bf called the ER and asked if we should go, they said if we think it's an emergency, come in. This was an emergency to us. I was choking and suffocating from COVID-19. I was dizzy and my limbs and head felt fuzzy. I was about to pass out on the way there. They never bothered to ask, though. They never even asked what all my symptoms were. I got an x-ray of my chest but they never told me the results. They told me my potassium was low, I choked on the potassium pills and they never replenished them for me (since I spit them out from choking on each one) They told me to go home and eat a banana, but I don't have any and don't have access to grocery since, Once again, I have COVID-19. They did, however, prescribe me antibiotics and cough medicine. That is the only perk, the cough meds worked well enough to thin out my mucus but I still feel like there's a balloon in my lungs. (I understand I cannot be healed like magic, but at least show some compassion) No one checked in on me (except for the receptionist once) and there was no nurse call button. The doctor never came back so that I could ask my questions. At the time of dismissal, they never told me I was discharged. The lady handed me a stack of papers and left. I signed without reading since I didn't feel good, although that's probably my fault. But she should have explained that this was a discharge form, knowing how ill I felt. I had tried to ask questions about the medication list but the nurses seemed uninterested and displeased with my questions. Also, the bathrooms were disgusting. If someone without Covid were to go in and use the restroom, they would definitely be exposed. While I was being wheeled into the hospital, a few nurses weren't even wearing their masks correctly. By the end of this whole ordeal, I was just too tired and annoyed to stay. I will be calling my PCP tomorrow to discuss everything that happened and get a second opinion. This is not the first time I've heard of such bad things happening here, I just can't believe I actually experienced such a faulted facility. Even before Covid, there's been horror stories of this place. Do us all a favor and show some compassion. We are sick. We are fragile. We are trying our best, and i sure hope that this isn't YOUR best. Please listen to your patients. Treat them like people you want to save, not a burden. Isn't that why you joined the medical field? I wouldnt refer another person to this hospital until they have made changes regarding some Doctors who work there. My son was recently admitted for pheumonia/fluid on his heart. He is a Special Needs child with Down Syndrom. The certain Doctor had him admitted and we were originally allowed to see him but then were without consultation or other were refused visitation cause doctor put him isolation and ordered Covid-19 tests which were were not advised of til after the fact then barred from seeing him. He does not speak, he signs and vocalized. Today when notified he was being discharged the nurse had to remind said Doctor if he needed at home medications and was he officially being discharged!! Dr. Mathews needs to be reprimanded for his atrocious medical habits and learn compassion in regards to parents of a Handicap child!!! We have dealt with him before and he just seems to get worse. The floor staff is very respectful but this doctor needs to be removed, he is complacent and extremely unprofessional!!! We will take our needs to another hospital from now on if he is allowed to continue to practice at your location. Very sad what me and our family have gone thru this past week. read more

I was expecting a hospital survey; however, I haven't received one. EVERY NURSE I encountered was awesome (Lance, Jesyca, Joanie, Leila, and Kat). I went into the ER without the expectation of the outcome I received. I was told it seemed as though I had appendicitis. Not so excited about those news, but stayed in the ER from 11pm until a little after 6am. I was to wait for the surgeon to start call at 0700-not normal to not have one be on call. So I could not be reviewed until that morning to be told I was not going to have surgery but continue to be monitored. Somewhere in that time frame between 11am and 2pm I was approached by Lisa (the financial counselor) about my co-pay. I was in awe and disbelief that you ask someone a question like that at their time of illness. (This is not Lisa's fault, clearly the "new" company that took over fault to be so inconsiderate about the patients). I stayed there for a total of 3 freaking days (at a $175/day copay) only to be told that eventually my appendix will need to be removed. Why in the heck did these people waste my time and even have the audacity to think someone just has money laying around to keep coming to the ER or to go to another Dr. I was advised that the appendix is not a necessity to the body. Therefore, I see no problems with removing it before it ruptures and the recovery time is worse. I pray in Jesus name I never have to go to this hospital for an acute illness. The nurses deserve a 5-star rating as well as the Hospitalist (Dr. Aymond). This place is a joke in my eyes. read more

I'd give labor & delivery zero stars if I could.. thee worse experience of my life this was my 3rd birth got induced the doctor was in such a hurry to go home she'd Bitch about my cervix not dilating fast enough then started forcing it open with her fingers (endured hrs of this pain)! Beyond painful an made my labor even worse, this continued for hours the pain was so unbearable I had to get an epidural which is say something for me since I didn't with my first 2.. the first nurse I had was rude an snappy the second time I got her I asked for a new nurse.. the nurses after were amazing an have been very helpful but once baby an I got to recovery it didn't get better! The nurse I got was very rude an talked like she hated her job (I'm not mean or demanding in anyway) she asked me to rate my pain so I said 9 (see how 14+ hrs of labor, cervix being forced open by fingers, my insides wiped out, epidural area is tender, headache, pelvic bone rubbing together, etc etc)! She looks at me an says "10 is like hit by a bus pain.. so what's your pain level at!?" I laughed in shock apparently your suppose to not be in pain...
