Smoothies and bowls might be expensive, but that's okay, some people purchase expensive smoothies in Beverly Hills for a heavy price and it is frozen. It's a small business, expect hours to be different, less choices, and all done with corazón. I work on the West Side of Los Angeles and I am willing to make the drive just to taste my favorite Pink Floyd Smoothie. And the Bluemoon is a must try! The owner is Latina, grew up in the community and fostered to give back. Take a moment to know her story. There is not a lot of healthy options in our community and the owner knows that even if there are times I cannot afford it, I rave about it. So next time think about what you're supporting and the mission behind a small business. Remember some businesses will not allow a change on your plate (like an Italian, Sushi, etc) and she will try her best to accommodate you, but again it business So if this is something you cannot accept, then this is not the place for you - An og customer since her opening on the farmers market

I reluctantly agreed to try the "My Cafecito" after being told it is similar to the smoothie (minus peanut butter). I was very reluctant to deviate from the drink I love and I ended up regretting it! The coffee flavored smoothie was basically a slushy. It was majority crushed ice that melted and became brown water. There was no creaminess that you would expect from a smoothie as the Chocolate Wasted one is. I wished I had not let myself be talked into trying it and had buyers remorse and left very dissatisfied. Never again.

However, they do come at a hefty price tag, and when the quality isn't quite commensurate with how much the consumer pays, it almost makes me wonder if this is even a Movita Juice Bar at all? This Movita Juice Bar is at El Paseo South Gate Shopping Center on the northeast corner of Garfield and Firestone. It's right next to the Curacao store that once you leave that store, you can remain underneath the awning to go inside. They have two entrances, one facing the parking lot, and one facing the Curacao store. The order counter is closer to the door facing the parking lot. I came in and wasn't really welcomed like at the Long Beach locations, so that was a little surprising. At the order counter, I saw some cups of Greek Salad, and I was wondering what they were there for? The cashier (Debbie?) mentioned they were samples, so I grabbed a sample of the Greek Salad while I was trying to decide which drink to get. Their menu is on a screen that's literally on the counter, so unless you take a photo of the menu by the pickup counter first, you can't really see the menu until you get to the register. The Greek Salad was pretty good that it almost distracted me from deciding on the perfect drink. The Peanut Butter Berry smoothie looked intriguing, but I questioned the amalgamation of the two entities, wondering if the symbiosis would depict more mutualism or parasitism. Debbie mentioned it's a popular and/or tasty drink, and that was enough to convince me to order it. I also wanted to try an upgrade like what they do at Robek's. They list all the boosts at the bottom of the menu, but you're playing a guessing game on the prices because the menu doesn't show the individual price of each boost; it just shows a range of these boosts, which annoys me because I'd then have to ask Debbie how much each of the individual boosts costs before making a final decision. Why not just put the prices upfront on the menu or just give them all the same price to make things easier? I don't think the words "efficient" and "efficiency" are prevalent in Movita's lexicon lol. I asked Debbie about Immunity, like how there can be immunity in a drink? She mentioned how it can help prevent the customer from getting sick, and I absolutely needed to make sure I wasn't getting sick. I wanted the immunity! lol I asked Debbie how long it would take, and she said just a couple of minutes. It was indeed about 2 or 3 minutes before my name was called. The employee simply placed my drink on the pickup counter with a straw on top without so much a portrayal of an appreciation for my patronage, even though I was the only customer inside at the time. I couldn't tell if it was Debbie or not, but there is definitely ample room of improvement for service. And, as I'd find out the hard way, the drink as well. The drink I ordered was supposed to be a smoothie, but it definitely did *not* have the consistency of a smoothie. It's like it had already melted before I even touched it. At least the taste was there, and it wasn't bad overall. I just wish it wasn't so liquefied for a $10 drink. I was so disappointed with the drink that I had to get a second sample of the Greek Salad just to make it seem like I got my money's worth at this Movita. I finished the smoothie very quickly. How quickly you ask? I was driving south on the 710 when I had finished, and I hadn't even reached the 105 yet by the time I was done. I really wish I had a BOGO because then it would have made spending the $10 much more worth it, but I'm sure I would have finished both drinks before arriving at home if the rest of their smoothies are usually watered down like this. If I weren't a Movita rewards member, I almost certainly would have passed on this shop. However, I seem to have gotten lucky with double points being awarded on my account? It might have depended on the time I went; I was there about a quarter to 5 PM. As much as I appreciate the 2x points multiplier, I almost wanted to give that many stars to the Movita in South Gate, but since I also appreciated the samples of Greek Salad, which I didn't see at any other Movita location, I'll bump the rating up to 3 stars instead. However, it's pretty clear that I'm not going to return to this location with about a half dozen other locations closer to me. If I'm nearby and want some Movita, I'll just try their other location on Firestone, which is in Downey, instead.
