I drove up and waited at the stop sign until I was motioned into the drive through indoor facility. There are professional staff here to remove your recycling. Then they put everything into large separate containers. I was impressed with this operation. I was sent here with some items that the Westpark location wouldn't take. The list of items that they take is impressive - see below. I love that I never have to get out of my car or lift a single thing. Definitely a great place to drive through. I went for the C&D experience and I knew I wasn't going to get hundreds nor thousands for my items. All I wanted was the $2 bills for my money collection. I arrived surprisingly happy that the cars behind me gave me enough space while I had my tailgate down while driving relatively slow. That's a rarity when I have my tailgate up. Right when you take a right on SW Plaza you'll go down a curving road right smack dab into the cul-de-sac of C&D Metal and a vehicle impound lot. You'll see lots of cars parked in the cul-de-sac and a long line waiting for the "vehicle storage". Keep on trucking along into the C&D Metal yard. You'll see a hut with a young lady in it, you'll need to give her your driver's license, license plate id, the description of the items, and your address. Step out of the vehicle for this, she will make no effort. Are you new? Are you new? ARE YOU NEW HERE? You'll be slammed with this repetitive question if you are new to C&D. I couldn't get away from it. Now the lady in the hut may misinform you on where you need to go next. I was told to go to lane 1 inside the warehouse and that's where I met José. José, a very friendly Hispanic man that's very helpful and very detailed in helping customers on what to do next. Are you new? Are you new? ARE YOU NEW HERE? If that's not obvious enough, yes I'm new; José. It's my first time! Drive around past the hut, to the long blue scale, wait for the green light and proceed to the junkyard. I weighed at 4000. Verde ding! I met José and a massive pile of scrap, it was as tall as the sky. I offered to help, José unload; but he said he got it. That's just my personality. I made sure José didn't throw my walking sticks out as he didn't. Next you'll drive left of the warehouse to the next long blue scale. I weighed at 3620. Verde, ding! Park in the front and go to the door that's open. Here you will see a dark, dimmed, and rigged up counter. Where you'll not be able to see the cashier at all. It's a one-way mirror, reflective on side and transparent on the other. Is this a police interrogation?! The cashier was so friendly, she expressed how she wishes her customers could see her. There's a process you'll need to do before you get handed $2 bills. She'll ask you to take a picture through the webcam, scan your fingerprint, and sign. You'll need to do this, TWICE. For your records and theirs. Then she'll ask how you want your money, $2 bills or regular payment. I want what is advertised on the commercials and website. There you'll get a receipt, your payment, and a card to use again if you decide to come back. Are you new, Are you new, ARE YOU NEW HERE? The overall experience was outstanding! I will be back. The new location off of Reed Rd, will be more convenient and gas cost effective for me. It's opening Spring 2024 or sometime in 2024.

Next, PRT illegally dumped the entire dumpster without permission on our private property. Their refusal to check identification was the failure point in this catastrophe. Unfortunately, while we were trying to work something out payment-wise (since we were scammed and paid the 3rd party ALREADY for the dumpster, payment of which was rescinded from PRT's account by the bank due to the 3rd party using a stolen credit card that PRT did NOT verify). This company will accept fraudulent payments and are extremely difficult to deal with. Laurie, who claimed to be management, is horribly unprofessional and spent the entire phone conversation speaking over me. I could not get a word in edgewise. Further, accordingly to google this is an extremely common scam in San Antonio and per news reports it sounds as though there isn't a company who hasn't experienced this fraud. So what is their excuse for failing to check ID? As an out-of-state resident, I was completely unaware of this scam and never thought such a scam would even be possible (surely, ID is checked for purchases of nearly $1k???!!!!). I would never recommend this company for any waste collection services, whatsoever. Dumping an entire load of trash illegally on private property is negligent in the extreme, exposes the environment to unnecessary risks, exposes the workers who must clean up the waste a second time to unacceptable risk (sharps, for example), and is the worst example of corporate America taking a cr** on the little guy. Say NO to PRT. Be smarter than me, for your own sanity. You will thank me later. Too bad negative stars are not an option.

We drove up in our sedan among trucks, trailers and towers. You saw everything from school buses, to bikes and wheelchairs and even the kitchen sink! The drive thru line was long and it's posted "no walk-ups". We waited a good 10 minutes before being instructed to walk up anyways. In the yard, we saw piles and hills of the scrap being stacked and compacted. It reminded the boys of the movie "The Brave Little Toaster", except that it was all industrial. We walked right up to the scales and put our bag down. Then we went inside to present our id to the teller. He gave us another receipt to take to the cashier. There was a bit of a line to see the cashier, and it was super hot, but it was just more for the kids to observe. The folks treated us well, maybe because they're not used to seeing families. In total, we had half a trash bag, about 10 pounds, of aluminum cans. They paid us 50¢/lb. The $5 covered the gas but the experience was pretty neat for the boys to experience first-hand the eco-concious and economic advantage to recycling!
