A few extra bucks in my pocket later and we were off to the nearby Waffle House. I much prefer this one though, because of my flexibility to walk around and throw items in the bins they need to go in. Personal preference - I just feel like I get more satisfaction out of that rather than be rushed and have people grab stuff out of my trunk and do whatever with it haha. I first came by on a Saturday morning and afterwards, we hung out and walked around Bear Branch Park right next door, on the same property (I think). There is an employee who is stationed at the cardboard section (the biggest tin on site) and he's super helpful, especially if you have large pieces you need help with. I brought my 9 ft. Christmas Tree box without breaking it down, and the whole thing fit and was thrown in there. Nice! Keep in mind, there is only one entrance and exit, so please don't block any of the paths to lead to the exit! Also, always be sure to turn left to get out. To the right, will lead you to a dead end.

This is the only place on Galveston Island to take your recycling. They have areas and bins…read moreavailable to place your recycling that are clearly marked and designated by type of item. For example, they have a plastic area but then a specific bin for just milk jugs. Also areas for tin cans, aluminum cans, cardboard (boxes and small) glass, etc. I like bringing items that can be recycled instead of going into a landfill. There are helpful attendants available from 8am - 5pm if you need assistance. You can drive in anytime because it is open 24 hours a day. There are surveillance cameras onsite. Please do your part to keep our planet as green as possible and bring all your recycling here!
