Spring is here! Discovered this close-in trail for quick midday hike. A few trails at this…read morelocation to choose from. Small paved parking lot allows for off street parking. Trail head has bathroom facilities, clear trail signage. Be aware that some trails do not allow dogs while some allow them on leash. Did a quick family friendly hike to the Kings Canyon Waterfall (.3 miles) and then the North King's Loop (1.8 miles). Waterfall hike is short and a well-groomed trail makes for a great family friendly stroll for all ages. Falls are really flowing right now with a lot of shade trees. North King's Loop. 1.8 miles loop with about a 450' elevation gain for about .9 miles. Trails are well-groomed (kudos to City of Carson and volunteers). For most of the loop, the trail is narrow to a shoulder width with a hill on one side and a slope off on the other. My hike is late March, early spring, so still signs of snow and ice hazards on parts of the shade sections of the trail. Overall, a great hike in the City of Carson.

Peaceful and filled with bird sounds, not many people when we were there on a weekday. Bring your binoculars to check out the many birds and woodland creatures around. Definitely wear good walking shoes and bring some water. This trail is a short drive from where the casinos are and well worth the time to get away from the people and hustle bustle that can sometimes be found in Lake Tahoe around state line.

The views of Washoe Valley & the Sierra Nevada Mountains make it all worthwhile !!

I spent some time in the picnic area and walking along the shoreline. The park was well maintained with lots of shady spots, cool grass and sandy beaches. The bathrooms were convenient and clean and there was a generous parking area. There are BBQ grills and lots of picnic tables throughout the area. There is also a large group pavilion. There are a number of trails around, but may be better suited for cooler weather as there is not a lot of shade away from the day-use area. There is a ranger station a few miles north that is worth a stop. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a small exhibit of old mining and farming equipment and a very nice native plant garden. Definitely worth the stop.

We were there to enjoy one of the speakers in their summer series, Christina Thomas, "Songbird: The Story of the Paiute People" and she was great as she shared the history of the Paiute people in the Great Basin. The Dangberg Ranch is located on HWY 88 just south of its intersection with HWY 395, and you'll head west onto a dirt road for about a mile to get to the ranch, and the road is a bit rough, and on the day we went, muddy from recent rain. Was it worth it? But when you pass Incline Village, there's a lot to pull into at Memorial Point right before Sand Harbor. Parking here is enforced at 20 minutes. Gives you enough time to walk down the stairs to the path to take photos near the rocks. Restrooms are available in the cabin-like building. There's also a paved trail on both sides. Perfect area to explore and take a break.

The Martin Slough Trail is a paved trail that connects downtown Minden to downtown Gardnerville…read more We parked at Seeman Ranch Park and walked along a section heading toward Gardnerville. On our Sunday afternoon there, we saw many bikes/ebikes on the trail as well as families out for the afternoon pushing strollers or walking dogs (must be leashed). The trail winds around the Seeman Ranch Park fishing pond through the marshy wetlands, along a creek and around small neighborhood farms and neighborhood housing. You can see the beautiful Carson mountain range in the distance as well as spot wildlife along the way. Shade is limited along this trail so be sure to bring water, wear sunscreen, and bring a hat. There are restrooms located near the parking lot at Seeman Ranch Park and there is a shade pavilion with picnic tables and BBQ grills near the fishing pond.
