I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the T-Mobile store in Owosso…read more In early June 2026, I went to the store looking for a cellular plan that would work internationally and a new iPhone. I was not specifically looking for an iPhone 17; I was open to other options and would have been perfectly happy with a smaller, less expensive phone. The salesperson is the one who offered me the iPhone 17 promotion. The new plan required a two-year agreement, so before making that commitment, I specifically asked about the promotion and the monthly cost. I was told my monthly cost would be approximately $110, and that this included the $20-per-month 360 Protection plan. I was also told that I would receive the iPhone 17 "on us." I was given a handwritten note from the salesperson documenting the iPhone 17 "on us" offer, and I have attached a photo of that note to this review. I relied on those representations and entered into the two-year agreement. Shortly afterward, I discovered that my monthly bill was actually $163.63 and that the iPhone 17 was not free as I had been told. I also discovered that an additional phone number and tablet service had been added to my account. I had never ordered, requested, suggested, or even discussed adding a tablet or another phone number with the salesperson. This was particularly concerning because I had no reason to expect either service to be on my account. I contacted T-Mobile's customer service 800 number and was eventually told that I did not qualify for the promotion and that the promotion should not have been offered to me. I was instructed to return the phone, which I did within the required return period. After returning the phone, I made several additional calls and attempts to get the remaining billing issues corrected. T-Mobile did not proactively contact me to resolve the problem; I repeatedly had to contact them myself. Despite these efforts, the disputed billing continued. What happened next made the situation considerably worse. Even after I had returned the phone, I continued receiving bills for charges I disputed. A debt collection company also began calling and texting me two or three times a day regarding the disputed balance. Being pursued by a debt collector after returning the phone was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. The entire experience felt like a bait-and-switch: I went into the store looking for a plan and a new phone, the salesperson offered me a specific promotion that I had not asked for, I committed to a two-year agreement based on what I was told, and I subsequently discovered that the pricing and services on my account were substantially different from what I had agreed to. After numerous attempts to resolve the matter directly with T-Mobile, I ultimately had to file a complaint with the FCC. It took months and considerable effort before the matter was finally escalated and resolved. To T-Mobile's credit, the account was eventually corrected, the balance was brought to zero, and the refund I was owed was arranged. However, even the refund has been inconvenient. T-Mobile offered the refund as a prepaid card rather than returning the money to the original credit card. The prepaid card cannot be used for ATM withdrawals, at gas pumps, for cash access, or for recurring payments. Since the original charges were made to my credit card, I would have preferred the refund to be credited back to that original payment method. Instead, I am left with a much less useful form of payment and additional inconvenience. My advice to anyone considering a plan or promotion at this location is to verify the promotional terms, pricing, eligibility, and every service appearing on your account before completing the transaction. Get important promises in writing. I went into this store expecting accurate information from a T-Mobile representative. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
