Finally they called me to come, showed disassembled engine, pointed to worn out part, refused to repair due to the age, reasoned that some parts are not manufactured any more (though possible to buy), charged $800 and refused to provide an expert opinion why there was water ingress in the engine block. This whole ordeal took almost a year.

Are there technicians incompetent or unlicensed? I will never bring my boat back to this garbage company. I recommend you avoid them too. At a minimum, they should provide me with some compensation to account for their negligence. They need to retrain or fire whichever incompetent tech worked on my boat.

A place where I can get a great exchange rate north of the border, have great value on parts and certified help when needed. Last time it was across from downtown Vancouver at the Creek's Boatyard. I needed some prop work, a weld done, tuning and major rigging work done. With no fuss or hassles they bounced right on it. They gave me a quote for the work and (no surprises) met their price and they did the work rather quickly. I keep my boat in La Conner, but when I have serious work to do, I will go up to Vancouver's Creek Marina & Boatyard. It's well worth the trip. Good people are found there.

Super service: As my Espar unit was so old, replacement parts were going to be a problem ... Jake had the answer here as well: PYS stocks old inventory/used (from another job). Best of all, as there was no warranty and I was able to pick-up the 'used' thermostat at PYS, they supplied the part for free. Now that is old-school customer service. Poor service through their negative attitude and lack of communication…read more For the most part they were rude, moody and petulant. Skookum was very poor at communicating. They left you in the dark. They disliked dealing with the client. You are an annoyance to them. The co-owner/mechanic is knowledgeable, experienced and competent. The work he did was good. He performed the major repairs. However, their only other mechanic? who was left to finish off the repairs did not complete the jobs and his work was left uninspected and unrectified. I had to correct his work and complete the works myself. At $175/hour! Not impressed! They claim it was from a lack of time. False. Time was not the issue, they just didn't care about completing the work, and correctly, needed done to comply with survey. After long a month of waiting, I just left. This was a frustrating, unpleasant, and expensive experience.
