The guidance and tutoring at this C2 center was invaluable throughout. She received early admission to the Princeton University class of 2018. Earlier, in 2009, our son, who went to Northview High School, was also able to raise his test scores significantly with the help of this C2 center. He is in Princeton's class of 2014. The unique approach of this center is that the Director, the support staff and the tutors work together to provide individual attention and tailor the program to the student's needs. The tutors are highly qualified and they work with the student's to understand their individual needs. The center is also flexible to the best of their ability in class scheduling around numerous other activities in and out of our children's high schools. All in all, we could not have had a better experience. Over the years, we have recommended this center to our friends and all had a similar high-quality experience. My friend, who does not read or write in English, signed up her son in July of 2017. The son was not happy with the tutoring service and the mother withdrew him in in May of 2018. The sign up and termination were done in person. The mother paid for 12 months in advance and did not ask for a refund for the remaining two months on the contract. The woman at this office had the mother sign for ongoing payments even though the mother only wanted 12 months of service which she paid for in advance. When the mother terminated the services the same person failed to record the termination and three months after terminating Cornerstone Academic began charging the mother's credit card for $139 each month. Now they refuse to refund any of the money.

Since then, I have seen the long term positive impact from Kumon's teaching method over the last 2 years. It has made me a firm believer in their teaching method. When we moved to Georgia, I wanted my kids to continue with Kumon. The location in Sugar Hill was the closest to me. I found out this was a new center and was not sure what to make of it. I was not sure if it would be better than the one we were attending in Tampa. After three months at this location, I am completely blown away by the wonderful service provided by the instructor, Mrs. Cherry. Mrs. Cherry updates me frequently on their progress, but I can see for myself their academics has accelerated since coming here. She has a passion for education and knows how to interact with kids. My kids enjoy coming here, and I get to knock out my grocery shopping at the Publix next door while they are in class. Win Win! Their price is very competitive. I've spoken to some neighbors who were unsatisfied at another company. I ask how much they pay. I said no no no! You need to send them to Mrs. Cherry. You'll pay less and get better results. So now they are enrolled too :) This new center certainly is a great benefit to the community. He…read moreattended an average of twice a week, to strengthen his already-decent math skills, prevent "summer slide," and receive support aligned with his upcoming middle school curriculum. Unfortunately, none of these goals were met. The tutoring didn't mirror his schoolwork as promised, and his first school math test in middle school at the end of August reflected this -- he failed. Also, during our last virtual session in September, the tutor left the session for an extended period when he should've only been gone for three or four minutes to check on his other virtual students then return/rotate. For those reasons, along with one additional issue not mentioned here, I quickly lost confidence in the program and canceled at the end of September, not wanting to spend any more money on a tutoring service that wasn't meeting his needs. It may be a good fit for others, but it wasn't effective for us. I was disappointed and now need to find another tutor or tutoring service that meets his needs. I would be remiss not to mention that the director was pleasant and made efforts to be accommodating and address all concerns.

Kumon provides lots and lots of pre-made material for…read morethe kids to go through where it seems like the main method of learning is repetition and working on problem after problem. We enrolled the kids starting in the upper elementary school grades through about 9th grade. While it's hard to know what really works when it comes to learning, I believe the program does work in that it helped my kids have another way of solving math problems than how they are being taught in the public schools (which are actually excellent in congressional district 6 of Georgia). For instance my daughter in high school was able to show the teacher how she knows how to solve a whole new section of problems they are just learning in high school that she previously learned in Kumon. She said the teacher didn't know the Kumon method of solving the problem and that it works for all variations. So my daughter was up at the front of the class showing the class on the whiteboard how she solved a few of the new problems and she got them all correct. Why 3 stars? I asked my daughter out of 5 stars how she would rate Kumon and she said she would give it 3 stars. Mostly because it's a learning center and not a tutoring center. Also the Kumon way of solving problems was different than the way my daughter was being taught in school. And the school wasn't accepting the Kumon method of solving the math problems when asked to show work. But I think that knowing multiple ways to solve math problems is a good thing. And I know my kids benefited from the math solving procedures they learned at Kumon.
