Breakfast is delicious; loved the fresh fruit, veggies, bread, lox and fresh squeezed orange juice. This simple pension is great. I stayed there in a room with two beds that overlooked the garden of the Ca' Rezzonico museum. It is very close to a square that has a cafe and one restaurant, many other restaurants and a short walk to a large square with many restaurants. There is Grom Gelato across the canal from Leonardo. The owner is very friendly and helpful if you need guidance before booking. You need to pay in cash but the room has a safe so you can just drop it there when you arrive. He may be able to help you with Paypal or some other means as well but no Credit Cards. To get here, Use the ACTV boat 1 line. Take the Lido boat from the train/bus station at Tronchetto and the P. About a two minute walk from the Rialto Market and Grand Canal and minutes from many of the main sites, this was an ideal spot for us to begin our adventures in Venezia. We stayed in the Vivaldi room which was a top floor, almost attic type room. It was cozy and perfect for our stay. It had an attached bathroom (important to know this when booking a room in Italy) and our little section of the inn was very quiet. Our ceiling window opened to let in the cool breeze and ringing of church bells. Amazing. Breakfast was downstairs in a lovely dining room. Our server (his name escapes me) was so kind and by the second morning remembered how each of us took our coffee. He also came to let us into the B&B when we managed to lock ourselves out one evening, talk about customer service. Our host, Barbara, was incredibly helpful during our visit. She recommended restaurants, offered to call in reservations, mapped out our day-to-day activities and helped us check in to our online flight reservation. One word of caution...this inn is on the third floor with no lift so if you aren't a fan of stairs or are unable to climb them, I would suggest finding different accommodations. Venice was our first stop in Italy and this B&B was really so instrumental in our stay. I look forward to the day that we return to Venezia and say ciao to La Villeggiatura.

The room was beautifully decorated. It was quite large and pleasant especially by European standards. It is also located a fairly short distance from the dock where the water taxi will drop you or pick you up (60€ from the Venice train station and 100€ from the boat dock at the airport). One of the things to consider if you are carrying very much luggage is how many of those picturesque but steep little Venetian bridges there are between your arrival point and your hotel. You're pretty much left with super expensive rooms or hostels, and I'm too old to be living the hostel lifestyle. Everything I read said don't stay in Mestre because you're not in the heart of Venice and it doesn't feel like Venice since you're not water locked. After reading TripAdvisor reviews, I decided on Legrenzi Rooms and I ended up loving the hotel and Mestre! Location: -It's about a 3 minute walk to the Carducci bus station and about 5 minutes to walk to the Mestre Central tram station where it will take you about 20 minutes to get to Venice. -There is also a grocery store called Simply about a 3 minute walk away where you can pick up water before heading to Venice. -Right outside of the hotel, there are 3 casual bars/eateries if you don't feel like walking. -Piazza Ferretto is the main square and it's about a 5 minute walk away where you will find lots of cafes and restaurants. The square itself is charming, clean, and safe! Rooms: -There are only 9 rooms in this small, yet modern B&B. Unlike other European hotels, I didn't feel cramped and there was actually room to put your luggage and hang up your clothes. The bathroom was clean and the rain shower felt great after a long day of walking around Venice. -There is a mini fridge in the room, so I was able to buy some goodies at the store and keep it in the room. -Wifi is free and I didn't have problems with the speed. Since it's the summer, there isn't a comforter on the bed, but they do have one stowed away if you need it (you won't). The AC was also strong, which was a welcome relief after a day of walking around hot Venice. It was also quiet and our room looked out onto the cute courtyard. Service: -The employees here are nice and helpful! They speak English and will help you with anything you need. -Breakfast is included and the breakfast spread was plentiful with fresh juices, natural yogurts, fruit, pastries, eggs, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, bread, tea, and cappuccino. Bottom Line: -If you're looking to save money, but still want a nice B&B and don't mind not being in the heart of Venice then you should definitely book a room at Legrenzi!

There are two restrooms that are to be shared by all clients. BREAKFAST The breakfast was very simple unfortunately. A few pre packaged croissants, toast and yogurt in the refrigerator. There was not much variety. You have to make your own coffee. What ever you use, you must return and clean yourself. WIFI The WIFI was free and strong the entire time. No problems here. STAFF We never met the owner and there was a very nice lady who came in at 9:00a. We had a language issue, but we worked it out just fine. The owner gave perfect direction as to how to enter and do things in the B&B RESTROOMS There are 2 very clean restrooms and they are to be shared by all the guests. We did not have any problems with waiting to use the restroom. TOURIST TAX There is a tourist tax that needs to be paid upon check out. Its $3 Euros per person per night. We stayed one night and we paid $6 Euros. Be aware of this. LUGGAGE STORING I was happy to hear that they allowed us to store our luggage behind the reception desk. They allowed us to come back at an agreed upon time to take our stuff. I was dreading pulling our luggage over every bridge. That was a wonderful and free service they offered. Overall, the stay was not too bad. My preference would be to have air conditioning and a private restroom, personally. I think that this hotel is a great budget hotel/B&B with all the basic necessities.

After wandering around Venice for a few hours with our luggage we finally decided to check into our room. We arrived an hour earlier than our check-in time (since it is not a 24/7 operating hotel we had to tell them in advance what time we'd arrive), but the staff cheerfully helped us out and we were in our apartment 15 minutes later. I was worried about not having a front desk staff at our beck-and-call, but we had everything we absolutely needed--toilet, shower, firm beds, TV, kitchen with moka coffee maker and coffee, ample space for the kids to move around. There was even an umbrella in the closet--nice touch. I was also concerned about the location away from the center of Venice. However, we enjoyed being in the Castello district. It was nice to get away from the crowds. Plus, Via Garibaldi has lots of cute shops and cafes and is just a 10 minute, beautiful walk along the laguna to St. Mark's Square. A few minuses: the comforters and towels are not thick and plush and had a few stains. We also easily heard people next door talking and watching TV, even into the night. We also didn't quite realize that we chose the option that would not get us breakfast, but even if we had breakfast was just a few processed pastries. Lastly, the WiFi did not work in our room. Very minor issues, though. In the end, A Casa Mia was a great place to stay and a great value!

Hot air came out so we called the front desk. They informed us the AC is disabled for winter months. Not thrilled with this since AC is advertised online with no mention of it only being for certain times of the year. With the AC not working, we went to the windows. Mosquitoes Three windows in the room, one of which says "mosquito net". We didn't see any other signs and the front desk hadn't mentioned anything so we opened all three windows. We were then overwhelmed with mosquitoes. Not good. Hotel later said we shouldn't have opened the windows which makes sense now. I do wonder if the windows aren't supposed to be opened, why are they openable in the first place? Anyhow, if there's signs on the other windows as they claim, we can take responsibility for the mosquito situation. Due to the closed windows and no AC, we struggled to sleep due to the heat. Note, a fan was provided our last night. This was appreciated, although would have been better to have all 3 nights we stayed. BED BUGS - NIGHTMARE We woke up the first morning covered in bites. Mine were AWFUL. It looked somewhere between chicken pox and someone who just went through puberty having an awful breakout, except that it was head to toe. I didn't want to go outside. After multiple hotel staff indicating the bites weren't from mosquitoes, we decided to get them checked out by a doctor. Unfortunately this wasn't until after we left Venice due to us thinking it was mosquitoes the whole time and we didn't have time in Venice as we had a flight to catch. Dealing with hotel after the fact - FURTHER NIGHTMARE Hotel informed us we'd receive a full refund with documentation that it was indeed bed bugs. Documentation has been provided and they now changed their mind and refuse to give us a refund as they deny it's bed bugs. First Aid in Venice said bed bugs.
