This was a very custom project, and I came into it with a specific vision of what I wanted the front of my house to look like. I actually created a rendering of the gate and entrance I had in mind and gave it to Drew. He worked with me through the design process, turned that concept into actual plans and dimensions, and Pacific Gates ultimately built what I had envisioned remarkably closely. Seeing the original design compared with the finished product is pretty incredible.
The quality of both the materials and workmanship is excellent. The gate is substantial, beautifully fabricated, and the finished installation completely transformed the front of the house. The proportions, vertical steel design, solid center panel, pedestrian entrance, sliding driveway gate, and overall finish came together exactly the way I hoped they would. The price was also extremely fair, especially considering the amount of custom fabrication, materials, labor, and integration that went into the project.
What impressed me just as much as the finished gate was Drew's patience throughout the project. I am very detail-oriented and had a lot of specific ideas about how everything needed to function together. Drew never made me feel like I was asking too much. Any concern I raised, he addressed, and he stayed involved in getting the details right.
This also went far beyond simply installing a gate. We created a fully integrated access system where my Ring home controls can operate both the pedestrian gate and the sliding driveway gate, along with a Ring Intercom installation. The pedestrian gate also has a keypad controlling an electric strike, so it can be released either through the keypad or directly through the Ring Home app. The Ring Home app separately controls the rolling driveway gate as well, giving me the elaborate but simple-to-use intercom and access system I wanted, with everything fully integrated in one setup. I separately had a custom address sign and mailbox made specifically for this entrance, and Drew worked with me before I ordered them to make sure the dimensions and placement would integrate properly into the gate they were fabricating.
There were a lot of moving pieces between the fabrication, operator, access controls, electrical coordination, pedestrian entrance, intercom, keypad, mailbox, address panel, and the overall architectural design. Drew was willing to work through all of it with me rather than trying to push me toward an easier or more generic solution.
That is probably what I appreciate most. Pacific Gates didn't just sell me a gate. They helped me build the entire entrance I had pictured for my home.
The finished product looks fantastic, functions exactly the way I wanted it to, and feels like it was designed as part of the house rather than added afterward.
