Tom and Fernando did a truly beautiful job refinishing our flagstone patio deck, fireplace and BBQ. I value the detail and time Tom took to plan and manage the job. Tom took his time to video the area and determine how best to tackle the job. The deck is quite large and very curvy and was in desperate need of some TLC. Not to mention, we have furniture and toys that had to be moved. The first day they power washed the area and addressed several cracks. That alone made a huge difference. Then they returned to section off the flagstone, etc. They spent the last two days applying two coats of the sealer. This was a 4 day job and well worth the time and money. I hope my review can be helpful to another homeowner trying to make an expensive decision. In my mind there are four main concerns when choosing a contractor: fair price, quality of work, cooperation of contractor, on-time completion. Jesse is United Iron Works. As the owner, he was my contact. He is knowledgeable, easy to work with, meticulous, a good communicator, and always available. His crew is also knowledgeable and took time to answer my questions throughout the job. I feel we paid a fair price for the project. United's bid was the middle of three and less than half the first bid we got- for the exact same equipment. We are very pleased with the overall project. The fence, double driveway gates, and pedestrian gate look great! The electronic equipment is very sophisticated and Jesse spent time explaining "how to". As it turned out we had a scheduling concern and added a section of fence not included in the original bid. Jesse completed work on each segment of the project on time as planned. My neighbors and I were desperately trying to find a reliable service that was decently priced, but these days with inflation it's nearly impossible. We needed a gate put up in our communal driveway to prevent random people from using our alley as a shortcut. For a month we had estimate after estimate but were unable to find one that didn't cost an arm and a leg. We just wanted a simple iron gate nothing fancy. Thanks to Yelp I found them. We had a small emergency on my grandfathers Main home entrance, an old irod rod door that the outer metal piece that secrures the "latch" we could not get the door to close it just hanged without closing. After a quick phone call and texting pics of the repair work, we set up a same day repair within the hour. A new metal piece was quickly welded on teh strike palte and resinforced, order had been restored. BEWARE these guys are hacks. Nothing was done to code. Attached wall railings using drywall screws. Hired to install a rail for our stairs. Rail came with many dents and really bad paint work very bad quality. These guys are major hacks. Would not recommend. It cost me 3 times more to fix the damage these guys did to my walls and floors.
