The hotel provides breakfast every morning in their 2nd floor terrace; variation of fruits, oatmeal, toast, avocado and eggs however you like them. They also offer massages; we booked an hour massage for 2 on our last day. They came and did them directly in our room! It was very convenient and the prices are excellent. Chetumal Airport is a simple, no frills, but effective small town airport…read more This is not a big city nor a hub where one might have a layover. This is a small destination airport. Very few people go through Chetumal; you go TO Chetumal. So it is rather unfair to compare this airport to big city airports. For what it is they do a good job. My experience was positive. Interjet is the main airline with service between Chetumal and Mexico City. VivaAerobus and Volaris also have flights between those two cities. Of the three I most recommend Interjet. Be sure to check the airline itineraries to see flights available. For example, the days I was there Internet did not offer a flight out on Monday. MayaAir has a very small aircraft with a flight to Cancún. Tropic Air offers a flight to Belize City. As with most Mexican airports, do not lose the stub for your checked baggage as you will need it to verify ownership of your luggage as you exit. The airport is on the edge of town, so taxi service is inexpensive. Airport taxis to charge more than taxis in town. There is one small store within the airport to buy snacks prior to going through security. There is no restaurant available within the airport or the terminal. Having said all that, the airline and airport personnel we're friendly and effective when I flew in and out of this airport. I arrived an hour and a half before my flight and had plenty of time to check in. An hour would have been enough. There are plenty of hotels in town and sites to see. I highly recommend Bacalar as a nearby destination, only an hour away.
