Every year, I am extremely excited to go to the sugar shack in the early spring. This little gem is located about 30 minutes North of Montreal and gives you all the best elements of a "cabin in the wood" type sugar shack while still being very accessible and close to the metropolis. Cabane à sucre offers a great menu of all-you-can-eat food and you can bring your own alcohol. The place is lovely, with great live music and entertainment for children. Maple taffy in snow is an integral activity of the sugar shack. For a little tip, you can get some tequila with your taffy! A pure joy! This year, our sugar shack visit was somewhat special. We happened to go a day before the shutdown of restaurant were announced. You can see that business wasn't as booming as it was from the chaos that is happening. It is very sad for such good business to suffer from this situation. While the situation brought in less customers, the staff was still lively and welcoming as always. They still made sure all the fun activities of sugar shack took place, especially the maple taffy on snow. This is one of my favourite seasonal place to go and would highly recommend people encouraging such local business. read more
