Stopped by Cabela's in Kalispell. This Cabela's seems smaller than others I've been to. I could be wrong but I know it was missing a few things that other Cabela's had like the taxidermy museums. It's a ghost town in there. ZERO acknowledgment I even walked in the door other than them trying sign me up for a Cabelas credit card. Saw to female Employees literally 30' feet from me talking I'm sure about THEIR problems as I walking all over the boot section. Another male employee walked with in 20' of me, looked at me and didn't say "Can I help you"? Not one of those three employees acknowledged what I might be looking for or that it was their job. Cabela's - Front - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Kalispell, Montana

I bought a used Kimber 10 mm pistol from Cabela's and when I went to shoot it it wouldn't load and it continually kept misfiring and jamming up. To get the thing to fire you had to manually load a bullet in the chamber and then it would fire but only once because it would jam. We took it back to Cabela's and the associate basically told us that this is what you get when you buy used. I told him I've been buying used firearms most of my life and never had this problem happen ever before. They do not want to do right by us so I am warning everyone do not ever buy used firearms from Cabela's because they do not back them at all and Kimber is the biggest piece of shit gun I've ever dealt with!! read more

This place is like the rest of them. Although this location is small it still has plenty to look at. Are the prices great???? Not especially. BUT, I live in a neighboring town and can't just pop in. Trying to call the Kalispell location is a fruitless endeavor and quite frankly pisses me off. The website says it's open. The store locator and business hours prompt says it's open. But the dude getting paid to sound like some kind of ideal outdoorsman, and tell you that the store is open, says it IS NOT OPEN and to call back during open hours. I'm not the smartest guy on the planet, but if the store is open until 9 pm and a person calls the store before that time, the store should at least give you the courtesy of an automated runaround. Frustrated. Their website AND app both showed items were in stock in the store. I made a special trip there, to find out they've been out of stock for weeks. In this day & age of technology how hard is it to maintain accurate inventory and reflect that on-line? Doesn't need to be "real time", but a few weeks delay is laughable. Shame on you Cabela's "Today, I walked into Cabelas in Kalispell to look at a Sako S20 300 win mag that I've been thinking about purchasing. Upon handling it I noticed a few scratches on the bolt so before I invested $1600 I decided continue my shopping at near by stores and call around to Murdoch's and Sportmans ski haus to see if they had that rifle in stock. No one did. So about an hour after I first went into Cabelas I went back in to make the purchase. I walked up to the gun counter (mind you I was a top firearms sales woman for Bass Pro) I told the kid I'd like to purchase a rifle. He asked which one, I said the Sako s20 300 win mag. His tone and demeanor changed. He said this guns for you? Yes. He said you shoot a 300 win mag? Yes ( I've shot Coastal black bear in Alaska, mountain lion, many deer and other big game. I come from a law enforcement-huntin guide family) The kid continued to pester me with the same questions asking why I needed a 300 win mag. Then he went into the back gun room and a couple minutes later him and another gentleman David came out to further question me if this gun was for me (a petite woman), what I was going to shoot with a 300 win mag. Literally the same questions over and over. At this point as a former Bass Pro Firearms sales associate I told them I did not appreciate being questioned in this manner. David told me he asks everyone all of these questions over and over ever time. I informed him I had never been questioned in this manner before when I purchased my shotgun or handgun from them. The conversation went on in a very demeaning way towards me until David told me to go stand by the ffl computer and took my license to another part of the store. At this point my infant was screaming on my hip while I was trying to make a final decision which scope I was going to invest in to mount on the Sako. Minutes later the Manager- Chad Kim came to tell me they could not sell me the rifle. His men thought my knowledge was too "Scripted". I was absolutely appalled that they made the decision to deny me, a law abiding, never a parking ticket, previous firearm dealer, big game hunting young American female a high powered hunting rifle without even talking to me to understand I had just been in an hour earlier handling the firearm, done my research and am already very knowledgeable about all things guns, ammo and hunting. They made the assumption I feel because I was a woman, alone, dressed very nicely that I couldn't possibly know enough about guns to be specific about the rifle I wanted. Infuriating and incredibly disappointing in the lack of personable customer service from the first 2 salesman who treated me like an idiot. Chad and I had a long talk which ended with me sobbing in tears with my baby on my hip screaming being kindly escorted out of Cabelas by Chad. Appalling, this is America and that was discrimination if I've ever seen it. First experience for me and I pray sharing this story will save another innocent woman from being demeaned and mistreated by what used to be a well respected outdoors retailer." read more

On June 27th , ordered some items on line and immediately received a congratulatory notification from Cabelas and how immediately they were going to process my order in matter of minutes after I put in my order! Today, July 10th, I get an email saying to me, "unfortunately the item I have ordered is not available, therefore my order had been canceled "! This is totally unacceptable from a company as reputable as Cabalas/Bass pro shop! What disappoints me is the fact that I was charged $850 the minute I put in my order yet nothing was shipped! All businesses I have worked with, don't charge you unless the items are shipped! I had had a lot of respect for Cabelas and this did it for me! I shall never do any business with them any more. Cabelas, never promise anything if you can't deliver! Even a 1 star is way more than you deserve! read more

Stopped in to get a jacket while traveling through and scored a great deal. $50 fully lined jacket was on sale for $20. Also got a full fly rod set up with reel for $50. I'd say we did well. I have been back to Cabelas 4-5 times last year to see if they have improved their customer service. The answer is NO. I don't need someone hovering over me but I shouldn't see several employees talking to each other and not offering to help either. I have also stood at the gun department patiently waiting for someone to walk right past me and never offer service or to call someone else to help me. I would like to purchase from Cabelas but this lack of service is unacceptable. The manager and obvious lack of customer service training at this location is a failure. My girlfriend, friend, and I drove straight from California to Whitefish for a wedding and I was set on buying a fly fishing set up. I spoke to Nathan, Lola, Angel, and Grant. All of these employees were top notch. My experience was above and beyond what I expected being from out of state. Every one of them were very well versed in their given area in the store and I had endless amounts of info from each of them. Lola in particular was the most helpful in terms of setting me up with beginner gear for fly fishing. She didn't try to push overly expensive or excessive merchandise towards me and I felt like she had my best interest in mind. She spent a fair amount of time giving me a complete run down of the gear, why I need it, how it works, and how to maintain it. I was more than happy with the service and if I am ever in need of any outdoor or sporting gear this will be my first stop. Thank you to all the employees I listed above. I have only experienced extremely friendly and helpful service here. I always bring my Labrador with me and we receive lots of attention and love from everyone, maybe it's because my dog is so cute. It is a smaller sized Cabela's and there is no bargain cave but it has a great camping section and lots of fishing gear. I come here all the time. read more

What a joke! I went in with my husband to buy a shotgun. I don't know anything about shotguns so I had my husband pick one for me. He has always picked my guns for me. I am new to hunting foul and my husband is an expert on guns. The guy never looked me in the eye and said literally two words to me. My husband took control and handed him the gun for me to purchase. He couldn't use my drivers licences because it had a p.o. box so he sent me to my car for my registration for address verification. I brought in my fishing license and he stated that he wasn't going to sell me the gun because I was obviously buying it for my husband. Why did he send me out if he wasn't going to sell me the gun?! My husband even said that he would just go ahead and buy it. Neither of us have anything to hide and have never had trouble buying a gun. We own multiple! Will never shop there again. I stood at the firearms counter for about 20 minutes as 2 representatives were denying a shady man to buy a rifle.. that's a plus. There was anither floater walking around the back counter but continued to ignore me. Another man was waiting as well and he ended up dropping his stuff and saying the hell with this. Also went over to the shoe section to check out some Saloman shoes, looked around for 10 minutes and could find no one to help me. I had about $300 worth of stuff I was going to buy and I said ya know.. this place doesn't deserve it. I walked around and placed everything where it belonged and walked out. Cabela's warranty is a joke! I hope someone of importance at Cabela's reads this. So I bought a pair of Cabela's brand "muck boots" in Our local Cabela's Outpost last winter for $79.99 because of the great lifetime warranty on manufacturer defect. Within the first month or two, the boots cracked which made them leak. Manufacture defect, right? I brought them back into the Kalispell, Mt Cabela's Outpost and the somewhat friendly gentleman at the return desk swapped them out immediately with a new pair out of their inventory. No receipt, no questions. Great, that's why I originally purchased them. I just started using my boots again for this fall and winter when the new boots cracked again in the same place and were leaking. Brought them back to the same store but this time they didn't have my size in stock. However, I was told to order a new pair from their kiosk as they would give an in-store credit towards the new pair. Price is still $79.99. But wait, because I no longer have the year old receipt, they will only give me a $59.97 credit toward the replacement. I kindly pointed out the Cabela's brand logo on the front of the boots and asked if they thought I bought them elsewhere. The nice girl forwarded me to her boss and he had no other good news and just told me, "that's the best we'll do". I asked to speak to a manager and he shouted to his apparent Manager, " hey this guy wants a total replacement on these boots! He doesn't have a receipt". Hey, this "guy" purchased a pair of boot with a lifetime warranty on manufacturer defect. The nice but non-helpful Manager only explained the same bs as the first two employees and said, "sorry, that is all I can do. You were just lucky they replaced them last year". I left the defected Cabela's brand boots on the counter and walked out with my $59.97 credit gift card. I've never been a fan of Cabela's. Only using them in the past when there was no other option or for the "great" warranty. Now, I will never shop there again. Not sure what I'll do with my in-store credit but I'll gladly continue to shop at Sportman Ski House for ALL of my outdoor needs. read more

Checked online before I drove to Kalispell store for inventory on products I intended to purchase. The pelican case I wanted was sold out within the 5 hour window of checking online. The M&P magazines showed 7 in stock at this store and only 2 were available when I arrived. Quite inconvenient and staff were not helpful at locating these items in store. I feel like if I was purchasing a firearm my experience may have been different. Will order online and pick up or just have it delivered next time to prevent the frustration and pointless waste of time. Two stars for this one experience but three stars because it's Cabela's and they offer quality products at a reasonable cost and I like this company overall. But if you are listening Cabela's, I want more American made products, specifically the products you make. I understand they all can't be made here but perhaps step up your game up a little. read more

The store is a little small but the people are friendly and that is nice. Always out of 22 ammo unless there is a new promotion going on. I guess that's par for the course. Always check their website before buying. The lower price does not automatically pull up but they are very helpful in getting the price for you. Store is clean. Try going into shoe department between 12-1 and see if you can find ANYBODY! I find it hard to still spend money here when I have to pick up their own phone in the shoe department to page someone to go back there. Always some lame excuse like that person is on lunch to there should be someone back there, oh they are probably somewhere else in the store. Once someone comes, they do have good service. I've complained several times to managers regarding this with no change. There is no excuse to leave a department empty with customers searching for anyone to help them. If I wanted this type of frustrating service I would go to Walmart. read more

Went to cabelas to buy a single-person pontoon boat and a kayak and the sales guy was unhelpful and rude. He sort of waved to where the paddles were even though I had already looked through them and questions about them. He told us he didn't have any $200 kayaks on sale even though there was a pile of the out front. We were so out off but our interaction with him that we left and went across the street to Sportsman where we were each sent with our own sales person to help us with questions and loading our products and the deals we found were better. So glad we didn't give up! But cabelas lost out on $700 from us today. read more

Visiting from out of state. Went in to purchase binoculars to see the beautiful scenery and wildlife in Glacier. Boy did we get lucky when CJ offered to help us. He was so knowledgeable about the available products and helped us make an informed decision. I really appreciated his use of "yes ma'am/ sir." Poor customer service! I drove 45 miles one way to purchase a rifle advertised in the brochure. The item was not in stock and was told there is one in North Carolina and I could get it shipped to the Kalispell store for $25.00, What? I then wrote customer service and they would not do anything for me, sort of oh Well, too bad! Went in to return a fishing rod and get some work boots. It took awhile to find somebody to ask about the fishing rod. When I inquired I was met with a person with a smirk of all smirks informing me even though I bought it at their store they do not return those and I need to get on the internet and get ahold of that company or call them directly. Just the way he spoke to us was enough to anger us. Decided to go look for boots anyhow, found some I liked but couldn't find my size on the floor so my wife went to look for someone to help us. She found someone at the front of the store asked if someone could help us in the shoe department and that person laughed at her and said he would send somebody. No one showed up. We left the store. Went down the road to another business. They offered to send the fishing rod back to the company for me, knowing I didn't buy it at their store. Amazing!! Then I went and looked at shoes. My wife and I both bought shoes. We will never go back to cabelas. This wasn't the first time we left that store disappointed.
