I really liked this outdoor store. Tons of gear for climbing and skiing and hiking inside. Staff are friendly and make sure you acknowledge you and offer help when you first enter but are happy to leave you to browse as well. They have a large selection of women's clothing and had some nice items for sale on discount in the upstairs loft area. I ended up purchasing a sweatshirt which is SO soft - it's my new favorite. read more

Gosh, what a surprise! I needed shoes for my visit to Glacier NP and we stopped in after lunch to look for them. We were greeted so personally by an employee (didn't catch his name but he great) and he asked me what I was looking for. New to the whole hiking shoe thing, he patiently listened and made recommendations. Wide toe box- check, light weight- check, grippy bottoms- check. He was so personable as to learn my needs as someone who has no clue and promptly made a recommendation for a good trail shoe, not too heavy but with great gription. He saved me. These were the exact shoes I needed and they served me well in National gp as well as arches. His personal attention to detail and getting to know me and by not rushing me closed the sale and I have never happier worth a blind purchase. Thank you so much.. The shoes you recommended are great! They were the Aloa548e446. In BLUE- his last pair is a blue in my size. Love them cause they're light. These changes my experience tremendously. Please give him my manny thanks I love them! What a gem! The staff are amazingly knowledgeable about outdoor gear. They are serious outdoor participants themselves. While shopping for a couple month long trip to Peru we encountered desultory service at other outdoor stores. It seemed the employees did not actually know what gear was appropriate for different circumstances and would sell us what ever was most convenient. Luckily a friend who hikes major mountain peaks suggested Rocky Mountain Outfitters. All our gear from RMO was perfect for the trip. We have shopped there since for other types of adventures and their advice and help has been equally excellent. These people are great, went there to get information, was hitchhiking to Glacier, immediately one of the store workers and later the owner offered me and my partner a ride. When that didn't work out because of a fire in Glacier, one of the employees actually took a break from work and drove us to a good spot in Kalispell to hitchhike ourselves. They went above and beyond what I'd expect from a nice outdoors store. You can pretty much get anything you like here, and as I said, the staff can't be beat. read more

We just got to the Glacier area and wanted some suggestions on peaks to climb, etc. My partner and I are rock climbers, peak baggers, mountaineers. Don, the owner, was beyond helpful. He must have talked with us for at least an hour, helping us pick some objectives and even plan an overnight trip. His enthusiasm and knowledge was amazing. The store is also well stocked for all sorts of different sports: hiking, backpacking, climbing, backcountry skiing, etc. Totally worth visiting. read more
