I've been a fan of this park for decades...there are beautiful well-shaded paved paths as well as plenty of picnic shelters, an awesome playground, dog park, miniature train, and woodsy hiking trails. A unique installment (which seems to have been here forever!) is Porky the Litter Eater, a talking trash receptacle....it's a must-visit for kids (and can be found by the miniature train station). The park is very conveniently located near Westfield Montgomery Mall and the Cabin John Shopping Center--it can get busy on nice weekends but there have been plenty of times I've enjoyed a quiet lunch here or quick walk on a peaceful morning...I'm so looking forward to seeing the beautiful foliage again this fall!

My son and I finally made it to Cabin John park and we had a blast! Pro tip: follow your GPS to Tuckerman Lane and don't get confused by the signs for the park. I didn't heed my own advice and ended up at the ice rink, which is apparently open. This park is great for social distancing. There are many different areas to play and it's easy to spread out. The little tyke area has some musical instruments, a multi seated car (with a wheel),and three different train components. Further up the hill is a bulldozer (slide but no wheel), a little play house, and a small double slide climbing set. There's another playground set that has a slide near the swings and a giant spinning wheel. The larger playground is further up the hill and has Several slides attached to it. The centerpiece of the playground, I suppose, are the three slides (blue, red, yellow). My son said the blue slide was awesome (he's not even 2 yet so that's amazing) and he also seemed to enjoy the red slide too. Other points I love are that everything is mulched and there are also hiking trails to enjoy if you can tear the kiddos away from the playground. The bathrooms here are open but are not well taken care of. Also there is plenty of parking. I'd love to return when the miniature train reopens given safety measures are in place.

I'm trying to switch up my biking paths & ended up here on the way to the mall. I rode about 4 miles by a stream...I tried a one hand picture, no luck. A scenic backdrop for all ages of park goers. For the tiny people, there's an adventure playground with a model train they can ride on. Aside from the biking/walking/hiking trails, there's picnic areas & campgrounds. The park offers recreational activities as well - an indoor skating rink during the summertime is located across the street. Enjoy camping & the Locust Grove Nature Center as the trail is parallel to the Cabin John Creek. Parking lots are located along Democracy Blvd at the Locust Grove Nature Center & at the Regional Park on Tuckerman Lane. The upkeep of the park is bar none.

My friend and I spent about an hour here after lunch today. I checked Google and stumbled upon Cabin John Regional Park as a way to burn off some calories and take a pleasant stroll. We were pleasantly surprised! At first when you enter it looks as if it's just a giant playground for kids, but once you park and are on foot, you learn that there's a walking path, a secured dog park (one for small dogs and one for large dogs), a 2-mile train that's $2.50/person that departs every 30 minutes, and a large area for having a picnic with friends and family. Some areas and features look like they haven't been well maintained, such as a creepy trash compactor pig and a badly clogged hippo water fountain. Some of the message boards are in disrepair but apart from that, it's nature and all you'd come to expect from it. The walking path is not very extensive but is good for a quick stroll. Definitely do the train ride and if you're lucky you'll spot the hidden giraffe among the trees!

Came here to mountain bike on the Cabin John Trail. I started from the trail head on River Rd just west of the Beltway. The trails are great! However upon returning to my vehicle, my car window had been busted out, along with several other cars in the parking lot. I didn't have valuables showing or anything. Beware if you park here!!

Cool place with plenty of parking. I liked the stream a lot. I didn't like seeing a scary looking snake along the trail.

Park is ok... However, when summer time comes around.. make sure you bring your bug spray! The fields are infested with insects!

My…read morekids took pottery lessons here for years and had a lot of fun...the classes are in the very unique and interesting yurts close to the Arcade building (where the main offices are). I'd also highly recommend the super fun swing dances in the Spanish Ballroom ....the live music is great and the dances are usually well attended, meaning lots of dance partners! I've gone to the contra, swing, and waltz dances (there are free lessons before each), these have all been worthwhile and entertaining. Less well known but equally highly recommended are the folk dance lessons...these are usually given in the space behind the ballroom or in the bumper car pavilion...I really enjoyed these dances and they are quite different from the swing and contra dances. You feel as if you are dancing as a group, even more so than with the contra dances.... I feel it's a great way to bring everyone together, almost like singing in a choir but with dancing... My kids and I have also gone to puppet shows at the park and ridden on the antique carousel (which has limited hours or is often under repair)...there is a little cafe located in a building where I think they also used to have Irish step dance lessons. I believe the cafe is run by the great local bakery, Pralines (which has great sandwiches). The Washington Conservatory is also located at the park and offers music lessons. There is a lot packed into this little park, and the surrounding area also has a lot to offer (it is near one of the small parking lots that has access to C&O canal)

It was a plant-based eco friendly event. I learned about it from a news segment on Friday. I am so glad I came. There is a playground area at the far side for the little ones. There were plant based food options from various Bethesda vendors. Also, other vendors selling or giving away sample items. However, I wanted to take advantage of the weather while it's still wonderfully breezy out minus any humidity. So I bought my lunch at the Brown Bag and walked across the street to Elm Street Park. (I should note that the map is inaccurate. It's actually on the other side of Elm - across from Wisconsin Ave, just 1 block.) There is a playground on the left side for the little ones to run around and there are plenty of tables on both sides of the path to sit and enjoy lunch under the trees. The tables are small - which are perfect if you're dining solo - but I mean, there's room for 4 to sit. Over a little further on the right side of the path, there's a little gazebo and larger picnic tables. I can totally see myself coming here during my lunch break til it gets too cold to eat outside. ** Pictures to follow after I remember to take my camera with me next time **

Visiting on a Monday morning, here's my experience. 1) Entrance: Good thing there's clear signage. Otherwise, it would be easy to miss.
