While in Munich for Oktoberfest, I went to this restaurant 3 times. Each time I went, I was always pleased. Big plus for being next to the hostel we were staying at! I had a few dishes but I forgot what they were called. But I will attest that the dishes I chose were extremely good! The staff was friendly and the restaurant was pretty clean. There is also a walk-up window if you just want to grab a slice of pizza without deviating from the sidewalk. If you're at the Munich main train station, it is literally across the street at the opposite corner. You can bet that I'll pay a visit to this restaurant the next time I go to Munich. read more

Conveniently located near the central train station in Munich. Menus in English as well as German. Authentic Italian dishes. Available for "serve yourself" counter service with a few tables or takeout as well as a sit-down restaurant option in the back. Food was tasty and quickly delivered, however service of beverages, following up to see if we wanted dessert and delivery of check was painfully slow. While our server was friendly enough, he obviously was tasked with too many tables and did not equally prioritize them. It was obvious that he paid much more attention to the young single women seated nearby rather than us, as well as the other couples seated in our section. Wine was much more expensive than beer, as is the norm in Bavaria. Beer is taxed as bread and wine is taxed as alcohol at 9-12 euros per .2L glass. If in Munich again, we would return, but would opt for takeaway or seat yourself. read more

Conveniently located right across the street from the station and within the walking distance to my hotel. I sat down for a seafood pasta and ordered a take away ham and mushroom pizza for a friend. Tried a piece of the pizza later that night, nothing was too special but my friend finished the whole pretty fast so I guess he enjoyed it. The pasta, however, was delicious with fresh ingredients. The service was exceptional which is really rare to find in this area. My server was friendly and fluent in English. Love this place! read more

Went there in Jan 2015 for late dinner. Asked for a vegetarian pizza with double mozarella cheese and you can see in the photo how I got my double cheese pizza. With just some slices of mozarella here n there. Didn't taste bad though. But caesar salad really lacked the dressing, I couldn't even taste it. The tomato sauce of my penne was tasteless too. Had to add tons of parmesan to make it taste better. The positive side was a waiter. He was very polite and asked if everything was ok when we left half of everything on plates. Maybe it was my bad luck. If I go there again I would definitely try some other dishes. read more

I think this was the worst pasta dish I have ever had. 'Ravioli stuffed with spinach and Gorgonzola in a brown butter sage sauce' sounded really good to me, but. . .absolutely tasteless. Floating in a pool of liquid that was also flavorless. Pasta on its own doesn't have much taste, and neither does spinach. They need a kicker--but there was no kicker in this dish. I didn't bother to finish. My husband had pappardelle with scampi and zucchini; he says it tasted good, but there were only two pieces of shrimp in a €15 dish. Moreover, they charged €1,50 for tap water! That may be the custom in Germany, but I have never heard of such a thing. There was also an additional charge for bread. And for grated cheese! Very disappointing. No way we'll be going back there. read more

Service was attentive. Had penne pasta and lasagne. Both were very good. The meals had a homemade flavor, not your typical Italian restaurant. The house does not take AmEx or Discover. This is a great italian place in Munich. Came here for my last dinner in Munich and it was a great surprise to find a good food like this. The place is hide but worth the search. Good place near the train station and several hotels. It has free WiFi, but you have to relogin to the wifi every 10 mins or so. The food was good, but not amazing. Lunch specials are about average and dinners can get a bit pricy. read more

This restraunt has excellent Italian food. Their food comes allitle slow, because they make it from scratch but it is definitely worth it. The staff speak perfect English as o when I first came I was relieved. I would recommend this place to people who like salty food. Really good pizza and pasta, although that's about all the menu offered. It's a stone's throw from the Hauptbahnhof.

Upon arriving we accepted an offer to give them our umbrella's and were seated. We placed our order, after being approached by our server three times. We were unable to identify much/any pumpkin as part of the pumpkin gnocchi from the "specials" menu. The Argentine filet of beef, ordered medium, arrived uncooked in the center. While no one returned to the table to ask how everything was, we eventually got our server's attention who took the dish back to the kitchen. He returned with the beef completely charred/burned on the outside, medium in part and very well done in part, again without asking if it was any better. We also ordered the seafood stew which was fine. We requested a check when we were done and were dismayed to learn that we were charged for tap water. When we requested back our umbrella's they claimed they did not recall taking them from us. We eventually located on our own as they tended to other customers where they stored coats people gave them, found our umbrella's and left. read more

I was treated like dirt by the staff at this restaurant. I was verbally abused and left almost in tears. My one day in Germany was ruined. I went to this place to get lunch because it is close to my hostel. After collecting my plate and drink at the counter i went outside to a small table to eat. Most persons were seated outside. Shortly after i was approached by an employee who rambled something and said i can continue sitting outside but need to pay immediately. The seating outside is part of the restaurant. I paid and finished my meal then approached the counter for a coffee. Immediately the man there started shouting at me about deciding what i want and self service etc. I still don't understand what the problem was. He mocked me and even shouted that i must leave. If my hostel was not close by I would have ended up crying in public. I basically paid this restaurant to be demeaned and treated like dirt. My wife and I really like to travel, cook and try new cuisines all over the world, but the food we tasted in Ristorante Ca'd'oro can be simply described as dreadful and hideous; in fact, when we think of the food served, this description sounds like a euphemism. Canned pet food looks and smells more appealing than those things served in our plates in this so-called Italian restaurant. We were shocked to acknowledge that genuine Italian staff actually works and cooks here as the food in this place looks anything but Italian. We ordered a pizza and a calzone whose dough was burnt beyond recognition! Every honest Italian chef would be ashamed to even think of serving something like this to a customer. Actually, the chef/waitor or whoever this person is supposed to be, started removing the charred parts with his unclean hands -- he actually took the money from us a few minutes before that and did not even wash his hands while doing this. Moreover, he actually put some HORRIBLE sweet/sour sauce on top of it (which tasted like sweetened, rancid soy sauce!) -- probably to cover up the bitterness of the overburnt parts -- making it even more dreadful than it was in the first place! The foundation of both pizza and calzone (if you could call this calzone at all!) was hard as concrete, and we literally struggled to cut every piece of it. Around 95% of the "calzone"-like thing was filled with grated potatoes, but we were actually SO lucky to find two pieces of mushroom, one small piece of aubergine and a small part of tomato. Another issue was the use of the bathroom. There's actually a tunnel/hallway leading to the bottom of this place where the lavatory is, and once it's been reached, a code from the receipt has to be entered to gain the access to it. Despite the MI5 headquarters security measures needed for the lavatory entry, we were shocked to find out that it was not so clean: lavatory paper was missing, and the bin was small enough to fit a few small handkerchiefs. Yet, another shock was that the while I was in the lavatory, I became seriously concerned about my personal safety since the cleaning lady made so much frightening noise that I thought they were beating someone up in the compartment next to mine, or that the demolition of the building has just started. All the time during our meal, the staff was speaking and "singing" loudly (in Italian), which was extremely upsetting. I guess they wished to make (a fake) impression that their guests are sitting in the middle of Venice. In the end, we just wished to escape from this chaotic, shoddy place, which we would have never entered was it not near the main railway station and we were looking for a place to eat while waiting for our train. read more
