The surgery itself is always clean and well presented. The receptionists are always helpful and the doctors (for the most part) are excellent and will take the time to listen carefully to your complaints. It can take time to get an appointment here and also getting through on the phone lines when making emergency appointments can be difficult but overall I have no complaints on their service.

In my experience the doctors are sympathetic and have time to listen. Plenty of clinics available e.g. diabetic, anti-natal etc. They also offer acupuncture on the NHS (I've used it a couple of times for pain relief when nothing else worked). They have recently introduced the facility to order repeat prescriptions online via their website - a fantastic idea in my opinion because the prescription telephone line was always busy. The only negative I would give is that the telephone line is always busy when trying to book an appointment. If they offered a facility to book appointments online (as some practices already do) I would give them 5 stars.

Avenue villa surgery is just down the road from the police station and sorting office. It is…read moreclearly visible on a corner. The car park is small and parking here can cause difficulty. The surgery is quite large with an adjoining pharmacy. Service here is ok, the addition of an automated service to book in and make appointments, and an over head screen displaying your name when it is your turn to see the doctor can be a bit impersonal and despite the receptionists best efforts it is difficult for elderly people to understand. Personally I dont like the system. The doctors are good if you see the right one, most of the permanent doctors here are exellent however some of the temporary doctors take little time to listen to concerns and problems before making a diagnosis. On the whole however the surgery is a good one and waiting times are not too long.

They mess up referrals and expect you to repeat everything again in another online form that they send to you via text or they try and pass the buck and tell you to contact the hospital to see how long a referral, that doesn't even go to the hospital, will be.

They have several doctors here but on my last couple of visits I've noticed I've always seen a locum doctor rather than my permanent one. I found that when I spoke to the second locum doctor she was not aware of any of my prior visits and also gave me incorrect information regarding a blood test, telling me I didn't need to fast when I did, causing hassle. It's quick and efficient here. Reception staff aren't super friendly but all the doctors have been nice enough and I've never felt uncomfortable. They sorted me out with vaccinations for a holiday to Egypt extremely well. I just walked in and to my pleasant surprise they told me I could go straight in even though I had no prior appointment.
