The trip was amazing. I went twice this past summer. The river was low for the first trip so we did more walking than I liked but the 2nd trip was immediately after a big rain so the height and current were perfect. We went on Sunday, September 3, day before Labor Day. Their last weekend of operation till spring. Not too busy but definitely saw other people. We brought our own tubes but paid for the shuttle and parking. We blew up the tubes there. No charge. Cost $29 for two people. Paid with debit card and small fee for that. Took about three hours and 15 minutes to go from the dam to the exit. Very nice trip very relaxing. Water temperature is cool and we had a good breeze and beautiful scenery. Much-needed R&R. Don't forget your ice chest so you can stop along the way for a picnic or a snack. Oh, and most importantly, bring YOUR OWN rope to tie everyone and the ice chest, together. Had our car towed after 10 minutes of being there when no one would answer the door, while we were trying to check the river level. I've never been a fan of this company, and the way they've treated us as customers. They habitually nickel and dime people, and act annoyed to have their business. Like I said, we parked a car here and tried to knock on the door and no one answered, so we went to check the river level and came back minutes later and our car was towed with no note or any direction of what to do about it. read more

They get you to the river launch in a tiny bus and even haul your tubes back to base once you're out of the river. Yesterday, for July 4th weekend, we made a 3 hour trip down to the Caddo River Rats to float. We brought our own tubes, and only had to pay for parking and a shuttle to drop us off. Everyone was SO very nice, especially the lady that let us go even when the river was higher than normal (Bc the dam was letting water out earlier than usual); and our shuttle operator (Brayden?) was particularly extra nice, and made sure a our questions were answered, and that we felt comfortable before he let us go. Since the river was high, it was flowing pretty quickly which ended our trip down river too soon. River Rats were nice enough to shuttle us back up to the drop off point, and let us float down again! We'll be definitely returning soon... And had a very fun, pleasant 1ST TIME experience floating down the beautiful Caddo river! read more

If you're around Hot Springs or Arkadelphia and have group of folks looking for something to do on a sunny weekend or vacation weekday check this place out...They shuttle you up to a drop off point on the Caddo River and you float down to where you started...It's a great way to spend a leisurely 5 hours just soaking up the sun and floating on the cool water...and sucking down copious amounts of booze...NO GLASS ALLOWED!!! They'll rent you tubes or canoes...my group brought our on tubes...I'd suggest you do that cause then you can get maximum comfort...hit your local Academy or other sporting goods store...bring a cooler and float for said cooler as well... $3/vehicle to park and $3/person for the shuttle ride...can't speak to tube or canoe rental costs....make sure to pack snacks and sandwiches cause there are 3-4 great spots along the float to pull over and chill...Also make sure you have a pair of water shoes...river bottom is rocky.... So to recap...bring your float, your cooler and accompanying float along with an appropriate trash receptacle, water shoes and make sure all beverages are in cans or plastic and get ready to have a lazy, lolling, kick ass relaxing time with your friends!! read more

I used to love this place - it was just what Arkadelphia needed. The Caddo river is great, and this place was much better than the floating place that was there before. When they first opened, you could just rent a float and head down the river. It was awesome. Over the years, however, I have grown more and more frustrated with River Rats. It seems that they have gotten greedy, being the only outfitter on the Caddo. First, they started charging for parking. Then, they increased their prices. Now, they charge you if you want to use a debit card. They'll charge you again if you want a shuttle. Oh, and if you want a trash sack, which is required, that'll be another charge. Essentially, what was a good, cheap, fun afternoon has turned into a frustratingly expensive trip. Floating the Caddo is a blast, but expect to get nickel and dimed to death if you use River Rats. read more

As others have mentioned...they definitely nickel and dime you for everything. However, that wasn't what made the experience so poor for our group. We had a fairly large group of people and they do not allow reservations; that would be fine, except they also have no system for getting people onto the shuttles. Our group waited over an hour baking in the parking lot sun while smaller groups jumped in line ahead of us because the shuttle just pulls up into the lot and whoever gets their tubes in first gets on. A lot easier to coordinate with 4-5 people, so we kept getting cut in front of. When we tried to ask the workers (very politely) if they could help prevent this, they were extremely rude and basically told us they couldn't help. Eventually the owner came and made sure we got into the next shuttle (he is the only reason they are getting any stars at all - he was great). There were no instructions given prior to getting off the shuttle regarding where to get off the River (or literally anything else), no safety instructions, and no option to rent safety equipment. 3 of our tubes ended up having leaks in them that we discovered basically as soon as we got into the water, so they were completely useless by the time we got halfway through the float. The river is very, very slow here compared to other areas we have floated. The trip took much longer than we expected and was not very pleasant as we kept having to get out and carry our (mostly deflated) tubes over shallower areas. Basically, the owner was nice and no one died. Other than that, the whole experience was very unpleasant and the rest of the staff were very rude and did not care whatsoever about helping customers out. Our group will be taking our business elsewhere next year. read more

Cannot complain too much...yes, they nickel and dime you (parking, shuttle, trash bag, etc.). if you bring your own float the shuttle price isn't bad. Once on the river the water is cool and clean about the same as the Buffalo (at least when we went 8-15-15). This is a party river if you are offended by drunk people having drunk fun, then perhaps consider another river to float. read more

The only thing that earned a star is the beautiful scenery. The employee was flat out rude and unhelpful the moment we arrived. He did not allow me to get a kayak after I repeatedly asked for one, stating that "most everybody tubes and I dunno if we even have any paddles." The scenery is beautiful! If the dam is pumping the water can be swift and dangerous. At the exit point myself and three kids, were carried down by the current. There were employees standing on a dock watching children struggle to fight the current. Not even a hand was offered to anyone. The employee stated "you're gonna miss the exit." Honestly, this was dangerous and reckless. I blame myself mostly but there was no help, compassion or professionalism from the employees of this business. read more

My husband, 2 kids and I wanted to have a fun, relaxed time. We came on a Thursday. River Rats offered a great experience. We bought our own rafts from Wal-Mart ($5.00) and a raft to carry our ice chest. The employees were very friendly, helpful and even went out of the way to help us park in the shade and go pick up my husband so he didn't have to walk back. We were 1st timers and they explained in detail everything we needed to know for a successful float. While floating, we stopped along the way to eat, swim and play. The river was more like a lazy river ride in natures setting , however a few times there were scary turns, low hanging branches and a few swift currents. I was glad my kids were strong swimmers (when we swam without the rafts) and my husband was along for the muscle, but I could easily come back with just myself and the kids. It took us about 3 hours, including the stop for lunch along the way. No glass, no styrofoam, only plastic and aluminum AND you MUST have a mesh trash bag. They sell them there for $3.00. Sunscreen and water shoes are a MUST!!! My husband also brought rope to tie us together, which I would've never thought about. Note: The dam generates around noon, which makes the river slightly swifter and the float quicker than the average 2 1-2 to 3 hours. It is located right off I-30 and there are plenty of hotels and good restaurants near to add to your experience. We really had a great time and paid under $25.00 with our own rafts and plan on returning soon. PS Leave the shuttle driver a tip and you get to sign the bus with a sharpie. Mean mean mean! Terrible staff. I saw one employee throw a girl into a picnic table. The same employee also choked out a guest that had fallen over an ice chest. I highly recommend not going. The police are on their side as well. Wouldn't listen to a single guest complaint. read more
