Horrible just horrible. Called and made reservations over a month ago for a charter (captain jack was really unprofessional on the phone) and then called the day before just to make sure everything was set and he acted like he had no idea about our charter. We had to go through everything again and give my credit card once again. I asked for the address and he wouldn't give it to me and said it was wrong... I should have realized that as a first red flag. Then 15 min before our charter I get a call saying his "steering was out" and our charter was canceled. This whole thing is very unprofessional and a let down. Would do 0/5 stars if I could. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Will also be constantly checking my credit card statement. read more

We booked Captain Jack's sunset cruise when staying in Hot Springs for a week in March. We wanted a private cruise for our family because of not wanting to be with strangers. He was friendly and great to work with to book the experience. Our originally booked night was forecasted as windy and cooler so he asked us if we would prefer a different evening that would be more enjoyable. The boat was clean and beautiful. We were able to bring our own cooler of beverages for the kids and adults. Captain Jack grew up on Lake Hamilton and his knowledge and history of Lake Hamilton provide a nice overview and an unique local perspective of the area. He gave us wonderful suggestions of where to hike and eat that we used throughout the remainder of our stay! When we go back to visit, we will definitely be booking with Captain Jack again. read more

We vacation in Hot Springs ever year and try to find a new attraction every year. We've zip lined, seen the magic show and music venues along with many great restaurants. We've rented boats on Lake Hamilton and when our kids were younger took them tubing. It was less expensive then owning a boat but still had the potential added expense of replacing or repairing a prop on the rented boat. This year we found Captain Jack's Lake Cruises and booked the "sunset cruise". It rained most of the afternoon and we were sure the cruise would be cancelled. At 5:00 Captain Jack called to say he thought the rain was clearing and we would be good to go. He said he would call back at 6:00 to confirm. That is the definition of great customer service. He called back at 6:00 and the cruise was on. The cruise was great, the lake was very smooth and due to the rain earlier in the day we had very little traffic on the lake. Captain Jack grew up in the area and had interesting information about Lake Hamilton. This is not the scripted "adventure tour" monolog you get on some tours. We would pass a part of the lake or a spectacular home and he could provide a little history on the property. I will post a few of the pictures from the cruise but you can see others on his web site. The bottom line on any Yelp review is would you go back and spend your money at the same establishment? We not only would but after the cruise we booked another cruise for today. If you want to get on the lake for a little cruising, I recommend you book with Captain Jack. read more

Do not recommend. Captain Jack is very rude and disrespectful. He will assign you seats and not allow you to sit with your group. He sells margaritas & beer ($5 & $3) which would be fine but website says drinks included, donations accepted. Pretty sure that's illegal without a liquor license?! We brought our own, which is also allowed according to website also, but he did not like it. Our groups was all adults (40yr+) and we got chastised several times because we were chatting and not listening well enough to his history tour. We covered a VERY small section of the lake. I expected a tour of the lake not sitting in front of a few houses while he talked forever. If you're looking for a nice relaxing boat ride, SKIP IT!! read more

We scheduled a boat ride a month in advance for a bachelorette party. The day before, we call to confirm everything. Captain jack "lost" our reservation and said he would move his schedule to fit us in (oh wow, thanks!). The day of the trip, he calls us 30 minutes before it starts and CANCELS. We gave him our credit card info twice so we're worried about this being a scam. I do NOT recommend his service at all. Don't waste your time and money. So unprofessional. read more

Terrible experience. I was at a bachelorette trip this weekend and we booked him, he is very very very expensive compared to other 4 hour charters I've been on where the captain was way nicer and way more accommodating. He wouldn't let you sit where you wanted. He even made me and another girl that was smaller than me switch seats based upon our weight so he could "even it out" but he did this by pointing aggressively and yelling "YOU OVER THERE". I grabbed a drink out of the cooler and before I even had time to switch the new drink to my coozie he got up and yanked the empty can out of my hand and said "your welcome". We wanted to get in the water and he spent the first hour of this charter driving around showing us houses we didn't care about. He finally took us to a place to get in the water and he parked us right next to the bank away from all of the other boats and my friend got bit by a turtle that jumped off the bank. He told us that he would get us drinks out of the cooler but when you tried to flag him down he ignored you. When we were headed back to the dock my friend leaned forward to grab something and he started yelling at her to sit back, she couldn't hear him at first but when she heard she sat back, he then said "I'll ask nicely the first time but after that I'll get mean" and then he said "yes captain Jack" because nobody responded. I could go on, just overall bad experience for how expensive it was. You can get a charter in Destin Florida for half the price with a nicer boat and captain that caters to your every need. A great way to enjoy the sunset and do something a little more covid friendly with Captain Jack and his boat. Great stories about so many houses along the lake front and a history of the dams. Captain Jack's sunset cruise was relaxing and very nice. He gave a lot of information about some of the beautiful homes on Lake Hamilton. We were disappointed that the cruise ended after 1 hour 10 minutes, though, rather than 1 1/2 hours as expected. read more

730 sunset ride and didnt leave till almost 8 because he didnt get there early enough to wipe the seats down after a shower. He takes a credit card when you reserve, but takes cash only when it comes time to pay. Brochure says boat is for 10. There was 12 of us this trip. First young couple gave him $80. He gave them back 5 and said he didnt have another 5. They said ok. Just never mind. The cost per couple is 70. We gave exact amount that he promptly folded and put in his pocket. Next couple gave him 100 dollar bill. He gave them 20 and said he didnt have a 10 as he ceremoniously opened his billfold. We then spoke up and said he had change in his pocket. Hmmmm He requires cash payment then tries to say he doesnt have change. I did not pay attention to the payment of the other 4 passengers. Our other friends paid exact amount. He assigned seats on the boat, separating my husband and me saying he had to balance the weight.! His tip jar stayed in plain view. He couldn't sell his water, beer, or margarita in a styrofoam cup but did what you to put cash again in the tip jar. Positive note is he did know the history of the lake. Our group of six took Captain Jacks sunset cruise and had the best time. He came to our dock and picked us up and was so knowledgeable about the lake and all the areas around the lake. Don't waste your hard-earned money. This tour isn't worth $10. We took sunset tour and it was 1/2 hour shorter than Capt Jack described on the phone. Perhaps that is because he hit something in the water, setting off some tone alarm. There were three different parties, 9 people, total, and we all thought it was a ripoff.
